This is my extra computer I built for both experimenting with linux as well as for bringing over to friends' houses for party games and the like. I built it out of mostly used parts I had available through either liquidation sales or old builds. I'm hoping to upgrade the RAM in the future.$102.96 -

I saw a listing for a low profile 1030 and an old SFF office PC both going for cheap, so I picked both up to fiddle with. I ended up making a computer capable of running Valorant and League (or casual web browsing) for guests that come over. Other upgrades to this small office PC came from spare parts that I had lying around (either from past builds or friends gifting me free parts that they did not have any use for anymore).$97.00 -

I built it so my parents could watch K Dramas and stream them to the TV. It's also used for basic web browsing, youtube, and emails. It's a messy build, but it's not really meant to look nice and it gets the intended job done perfectly fine.$92.90 -

This build was originally built in late 2018 as a friend's first Gaming PC, paired with a 1080p 144Hz monitor. It was primarily used to play esports titles such as Overwatch and Valorant, as well as some triple-a shooters such as Borderlands 3. He has since moved on to a new upgrade with an i5-11600K and RTX 3070, but I wanted to repurpose his old build and see how it performs in 2023. I do have a few quick benchmarks I can provide that I recently took: 3DMark Time Spy: 4351 CSGO 1440p: 203.22 fps CSGO 1080p: 247.46 fps OW2 1440p: 53 fps OW2 1080p: 75 fps Shadow of the Tomb Raider 1440p: 39 fps Shadow of the Tomb Raider 1080p: 58 fps$88.99 -

I also use this PC for general purpose. I had done a Kaggle competition on this PC too! I have this computer since 2013. My original GPU was GTX 660ti, but it died last year. I got a GTX 760 as a replacement. I don't remember the price of each parts anymore. I think it was roughly around 800~900 USD.$52.99 -

This system originally contained an i7 6700 with 8gb of memory, a 1tb hard disk drive, and a 128gb ssd. The first upgrade was the graphics card, then I added another SSD and a HDD along with a SATA PCI-Express add-on card. I had to get the add-on card because there wasn't enough ports on the motherboard. Now this is my full set-up with my desk.$46.99 -

After scouring my basement and searching through all of the garbage PCs that were left over from my father's office, I have assembled a gaming rig unlike any other. With a GPU riser, a little perseverance, and a lot of begging my friends for extra parts that they had lying around, this baby is capable of running Fall Guys with minimal lag and stuttering at 720p, even at medium settings! I am currently waiting for an upgraded cpu from a friend, and once I have it I will reluctantly build everything into a bigger case. The most important upgrades to come are RGB fans, keyboard, and mouse, anime girl mousepad, and the Redragron speakers that I will get from my Micro Center coupon. For now, its the best gaming PC I've ever owned, and assembling it has been my life's crowning achievement.$44.99 -

I did not have any budget for it, so decided to make him something as cheap as possible. Let me tell you, it would not have been possible if my older son had not donated his old PC parts including his old 1050ti, power supply, and SSD. We also used his old case lying around that you can see from the dust. We searched the Facebook marketplace and local thrift stores for the rest of the build. It cost us 40 bucks for the whole build. I am not a pro. My son and I watched Linus Tech Tips to build the PC. It was hard even to put cable in right place, let alone management, lol. Here is the build. Build specs: Pentium G4560 Gigabyte H110m Motherboard (Motherboard and processor together cost us 30 bucks) 8 GB DDR4 ram (5 bucks from a thrift store) 1 TB Toshiba HDD (5 bucks from Facebook marketplace) MSI 1050ti (Elder son's old GPU) Cooler Master Case (Also from elder son) My son plays DOTA on it, and it runs fine!$40.00 -

Welcome to a relic of a time gone past, but a faithful computational rig that supported gaming in my downtime. This system was used heavily going through gradschool in a STEM field, supporting simulations, computations, data processing, modeling and more. All the while, supporting gaming in what little down time there was. Biggest love of this system was the accessible top rack IO and large, quiet fans. Biggest regret, a non-modular power supply and not the best case support for cable management mad that aspect of this build a headache.$7.00 -

My computer runs 24/7 doing it all. Most obvious hindsight fix would've been to not attempt to make a DIY purple dye, that backfired horribly and resulted in the name of the system because it stained the reservoir brown. It looks like the system has coffee pumping through the watercooling loop! Despite initial teething troubles with XMP the system is now rock stable and been problem free for most of the last decade. Planning to upgrade it to Zen 4, a proper NVMe SSD, and just maybe a 3080 Ti... Oh, and most importantly a new case that has room to allow for proper cable management!$0.14
