Farewell, AM4
by Karl George Posted on: 7/25/2023Build Description
This is the final hardware refresh / rebuild that I plan to ever do for the AM4 socket. Which is somewhat of a sad thing to say because it's been a great run for AMD. The best value gaming cpu has been recently released, the 5600x3D. So with that last piece inhand it was time to do enter the final state. The 5600x3D is currently more than adequate for my RTX 3060 12gb card, so the card itself might be the next thing I end up replacing. Getting very solid performance in games like The Outer Worlds. Usually above 120fps playing on a 1440p monitor.
Favorite Feature
The am4 socket might be my all time favorite socket with which to build pc's. This is quite simply because AMD did an amazing job supporting their existing hardware, including unofficial support for older motherboards like x370's and x470's. Intel you should learn a lesson from AMD's level of greatness with their socket support.
