Futureproofing
by Karl George Posted on: 4/6/2023Build Description
My goal in building was to update my primary gaming pc so that it shouldn't need any upgrading over the next five years. I'm happy to say that I think this was accomplished and am curious to see exactly how many years I can get out of the current setup. One thing I probably would have done differently, now that I'm looking back on it, is cpu selection. I chose the 12700k over the 13600k because I, at the time, believed that the i7 cpu would be superior over the i5 cpu since the gap between 12th and 13th gen intel cpu's isn't huge. This was a mistake. I now have learned that the 13600k is in every way superior to the i7 12700k, both in core architecture and in thermal performance. Live and learn.
Favorite Feature
The specific part I'm enjoying the most to this point is the gaming performance I'm getting from the RTX 4070 Ti. This particular card is bringing the same level of performance that I would have gotten from the much more expensive RTX 3090, without the unnecessary amount of vram.
