I've been wanting to build a new PC for quite some time now, and seeing all the Fractal North builds really pushed me to build one of my own. I set a budget of $1600 for this build and the build was about that much after taxes are included. I went for the white case because most of my furniture is white or wood so it fits in perfectly. I've been using it daily for about a week now and it's been great! Super fast and quiet. I love it!$1,479.92 -

My daughter wanted a better computer and since she helps me upgrade mine from time to time she wanted to build her own. We told her if she could keep it around 500.00 budget we'd help her, so we scoured forums and youtube videos for less expensive builds. We found Toasty Bros there, and they in turn directed us to microcenter where we found a very nice cpu/motherboard/ram combo. with the combo and new case we came in around $570. She got her wish and I got a great father-daughter moment to cherish the rest of my life. :D$574.95 -

I love the case, the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M, great for watercooling. I went from a Ryzen 1700 with a Radeon 290 GPU, to a 3600X and RX480 GPU, to a 5900X and a 5700XT, RMA'd the 5700XT and exchanged it for a 6600XT, then finally bought a used 6800XT + EK waterblock off of ebay. It's for gaming but I also do work on it, I love how fast it is and even when I'm doing stuff like AI upscaling to old videos, it's a beast. I have a strip of UV lights that do a good job of illuminating the UV dye in the cooling liquid. I had a 2nd strip of UV lights as well, but those things generate a lot of heat and I dropped one and replaced it with a RGB strip.$1,719.96 -

It ran fortnite at about 8 fps on low settings, so I figured if I want to do fps games, I should get a pc. I use it to play games like gta v, the ori series, and a bit of Minecraft. Moving to Chicago and starting a new job, I decided to finally splurge on a decent gaming PC that would hopefully be a little bit future proof. Unfortunately current gen GPUs seem to just be more expensive, beefier versions of last gen, so I went for an older GPU that I got a great deal on at MC. I plan on playing a variety of AAA games: Elden Ring, Spider-Man, Skyrim, the Witcher 3, as well as things that are intensive like Minecraft w/ fancy shaders. I would love to get more frames. The 5600 is bottlenecking my 6800xt at 1080 and 1440p. A 5800x3d would be the cheapest upgrade if it comes down to $225ish. If not the next step is a full new build taking it to ryzen 7000 am5. The 6800xt needs a 7900 to get the 6800xt to reach its max. People forget that Cpu in the mid high range from 1-2 years can bootleneck even a 2 year old gpu like mines. The 4090 will take 2 years at least to get the bottleneck from 1080p for shooters type games, once a cpu in 2 years can keep up to it. Thanks for reading. I do get 250fps in MW2 on my build at 1440p.$1,422.91 -

Micro Center lured me in again with a great deal on a 11700k with a free z590 MB so I started another build. GPU prices had finally started coming down, so I added a RX6800XT too. I've always wanted a completely overkill build for what I do, so once I got my hands on everything that's exactly what I did. I use this to play Dead Island, Ghostwire Tokyo, Guilty Gear Strive, Elden Ring, 7 days to die, For Honor, Muck, Monster Hunter World, Deep Rock Galactic, Sea of Thieves, and some emulators. What would I have done differently? I think what I should've done differently is kept all my old parts instead of selling them to make a whole other build. I swap between a Sapphire 6800xt, and the ASUS x Noctua 3080 depending on what I'm playing. Having 14 Thermaltake Riing Quad fans in this almost cost me as much as the case itself, and I probably should've gotten a bit cheaper fans but oh well. But right now I am happy with what I have, it's not the best in cable management, nor is it the heaviest hitter in the rest of the showcase, but it does everything I need it to.$3,184.89 -

For general usage, some gaming. I wish I had more games to play but most modern games are either absolute trash that isn't worth playing or indies that are worth playing but don't require much in the terms of power. The 3900XT I got on sale after the 5000 series came out, works well, cooled by a Noctua NH D15. Should I have waited to get a 5950X? Maybe, but I don't need that much. 32GB of ram, surprisngly I regularly use around 24GB of it so I'm glad I went over the 16GB I usually default to. The motherboard is alright, it works. The 5700XT has to be the centerpiece, I replaced the original cooler with a Raijintek Morpheus II and two Noctua fans. Never goes below 55c even during full load and is always silent. A much better experience compared to when the fan bearings were worn to the point of buzzing from casual mining for a few years. Despite the drama surrounding crypto this 5700XT has heated my room during the winter and put food onto the table for the past two years. Can't complain about that. The PSU I'm glad I went a little overkill initially. When I got this I had a Ryzen 5 1400 and an RX560, something that could probably be powered by a 450W unit. However now it's still got plenty of extra for further upgrades. The case is a Corsair 275Q. It's not very quiet and difficult to work in. I would have rather bought a quality test bench with this money. I need lots of hard drive space.$1,860.89 -
