It's in my ten year old Thermaltake mid tower case, now with a new power supply. I did this thing as cheap as I could. The $89 i3 quad core is faster then the 6 core AMD FX that won't run Win 11. I bought a returned Asus motherboard, that was complete except the M,2 screws, and it seems to work fine. Like my cpu, my old ASUS legacy bios board won't run Win 11 either. And, of course it used DDR3, so I had to get new ram. Then there was the MBR Hard Drive problem and the UEFI bios differences. Such as, the : You can't boot from a legacy MBR HD if you use on board graphics, and then if you can find someone that knows that your lucky! So, you can now boot your old HD in legacy mode but guess what, you won't have "Secure Boot" so no Win 11! Which is what this is all about. Now ask on line how to change your MBR HD to GPT and keep it bootable! 99% of the answers say, "No sweat, but you can't boot from that drive anymore! So, how you gunna get that Windows 11, since you don't have a activation key because your copy is "digital" and if it don't boot you ain't got anything. See how many answers you get to that question online. I'll save you the trouble, you have to pay $45 dollars for Aomei backerupper. Then you can get Win 11, and try to find all the stuff you use to use that they just moved around to make it feel different, and call Netflix to ask why you can't watch a movie, but spammers can still find you through all this TPM, secure boot, and all the new Win 11 security and safe web shite. IT'S A NEW DAY IN COMPUTING. HURRAY!!$285.93 -

Not a complete rebuild. Just upgraded from my i5-7400. It was struggling to keep up with modern titles. I play whatever I feel like playing. I don't focus on one specific genre.$379.99 -

Before this, I was using a MacBook Air, so anything seemed like an upgrade compared to that. In the end, I was not able to get a GPU because everything was out of stock.$390.94 -

This is primarily a working computer (for personal business) however also for some gaming on the side. I used the same case I had before from a previous build 8 years ago, as well as the same old PSU (400W) and for the GPU, I used a GTX 1050 that I purchased about 5 years ago. So all in all, it was about $430 (with tax) for a computer that now is much faster and more stable, especially for the things I use it for now. (I have a better laptop for gaming). Without the RAM or with cheaper RAM it'd be even less of course. Note, if you buy the same processor, a separate GPU will be required as this CPU doesn't have it's own graphics. Note, the motherboard is indeed Windows 11 compatible but you need to turn on the TPM in the BIOS (it's off by default). It's pretty easy to do though. Asus shows you how on the support website. You'll note from the picture(s) that I also have an old wifi adapter in there. Also from the previous 8 year old build (but for faster DL speeds probably want a newer one of those). The mobo comes with a nice suite of software but you don't have to install it of course. There's one called AI Suite 3 that gives some fan/cpu info, as well as other things, also installs a quick interface on the desktop (that can be exited out of if desired) to quickly control fan speed. Also there's an "Armory Crate" from ASUS that does pretty much the same thing(s) so I'm not sure why have both. (?). The screenshot is from the Armory Crate where you can fine tune to your heart's desire. Also update drivers etc as desired (I just let Windows do most of that I'm not into overclocking and such especially for a build like this). Anyway, still kind of neat to check on occasion to make sure fans running well etc. My goal was to build a cheap computer that would perform well enough for the next 2-5 years. I think I've achieved this goal.$404.96 -

I built it during quarantine as a gaming rig for me and my brother and eventually my sister because our old dell desktop couldn’t handle the games anymore. We usually play Minecraft, CoD, and other multiplayer games. We also use it to do school work and 3d printing software.$404.98 -

This machine was intended entirely for basic home office tasks, web browsing, or doing light work with Visual Studio. It isn't glamorous, but it works. This was meant to adhere to a budget, and is the main reason it wasn't built as an ITX. At the last minute, it was decided to add in an extra DVD writer that had been in an old build. Otherwise it would have gotten away with 0 SATA cables. And last but not least, the 12400 hadn't released when this machine was built. Ah well. With so few drives and accessories, and also considering this case isn't ideal for cable management, a modular PSU might have been nice. But this one was reused so the price was unbeatable.$489.95 -

I built this computer in 2019; the only parts I've changed since then are the CPU and motherboard (I originally had a 2400G and B450-A Pro, but those ended up in a PC for my brother). I mainly play easy-to-run games like Minecraft and Rocket League, which run well enough at 1080p with the 10600K's integrated graphics. I also use this computer for CAD/3D modeling in Tinkercad and Fusion 360. I've managed to get a decent overclock on the RAM—4000 17-21-21-41 w/ tRFC of 260 ns and somewhat-tuned secondary/tertiary timings. I could probably lower the timings a bit more, but this already gives a solid improvement in bandwidth and latency. I plan to try some iGPU overclocking when I have more time on my hands. The main upgrade I have in mind is adding a graphics card, but I'm holding off on that until the market improves.$490.00 -
