This build was 100% motivated by a random impulse purchase at my local Microcenter. I noticed that the newest gen from Intel (13th gen) now had an i3 quad core (4 cores, 8 threads) available and the price at Microcenter was only $99. I decided to grab it and see how much it would bottleneck an older RX 5600 XT that I had going unused. Turns out, the answer is "not at all!"$593.93 -

Made this PC mainly to do some light gaming as well as be able to handle light work tastks I may need to do while at home. Made it with some older parts but still handles everthing I throw at it today. I also didn't want it to be too big so I went with micro ATX.$703.93 -

My consulting business requires some power and my laptop was aging far too rapidly. I also downloaded Baldurs Gate 3 and when it kept crashing that was the final straw, I decided to build my own showcase instead of just building them for other people. With a budget of only $800 I built the most powerful build I could and it takes everything i've thrown at it and then some. I'd like to upgrade the processor as soon as possible and potentially take advantage of DDR5 rather than the current DDR4$892.92 -

I built this pc over time carefully selecting parts to use temporarily in my atx case until I could buy an SFF one. I joined a fantastic and helpful discord community who helped me along the way. I love how it's going so far! Planning on an new Ncase. Maybe the Streacom F1 or to be announced Mach 3. I still have a 970, but looking to upgrade very soon. The 13700k is a beast. I apologize for the rough photo shot, I am very close to the build of my dreams!$1,137.92 -

Moving to Chicago and starting a new job, I decided to finally splurge on a decent gaming PC that would hopefully be a little bit future proof. Unfortunately current gen GPUs seem to just be more expensive, beefier versions of last gen, so I went for an older GPU that I got a great deal on at MC. I plan on playing a variety of AAA games: Elden Ring, Spider-Man, Skyrim, the Witcher 3, as well as things that are intensive like Minecraft w/ fancy shaders. I also will use this for everyday stuff like watching videos, web browsing, coding (not super intensive compilation).$1,209.95 -

The problem I created is that the rest of my old, 7th gen Intel build ended up being a sever bottleneck to the performance I should have been getting from the 6750 XT. Consequently, I pretty much replaced everything else in the build so that I could have a machine that complimented the video card, not weigh its performance down. So far, so good! Right now I'm playing Resident Evil 4 at max settings.$1,439.92 -

Designed to last 5/6 years of abuse at minimum with no major upgrades so latest gen components used. runs a little toasty under load as the case I used has relatively poor airflow but he seems to be relatively happy and will handle a mild overclock on basically everything. The big temperature issue is the CPU which sits at around 80 degrees Celsius under load at minimum. I'm constantly playing around with fan settings to try get the temps lower and might bolt some more fans on.$1,454.92 -

After extensive research and numerous days and nights dedicated to finding the optimal components within my budget, I was able to successfully assemble it! The performance of this build is great! This CPU and GPU combination I chose is great for intermediate and advanced gaming, consistently achieving frame rates well above 144Hz at 1080p, which is the maximum refresh rate and resolution of my monitor. The temperatures are pretty chill with the cpu maxing at about 60 degree celsius on cinebench and idling at 35 to 40 celsius. The gpu is a little toastier with temps going from 62 to 66 celsius on heaven benchmark and 38 to 43 celsius on idle. I am glad I purchased AIO watercooling for my CPU!$1,610.95 -

I have a soft spot for microATX builds and it seems like they’re the red-headed stepchild of the scene. There’s something about all the wasted space in a full size ATX case that makes me sad inside and I don’t wanna be sad! After building my first rig, I was headfirst into the world of PC building. I didn't know my next gaming computer was going to be a space heater though. This build I went for the all white with silver finish aesthetic, and it came out better than I expected. Although it was a bit nerve wracking to troubleshoot the overheating cpu, it was a really enjoyable experience. I use the computer mainly for gaming, I enjoy playing hyper realistic simulation games like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, Forza Horizon 5, and PC building simulator 2 (yes when I said I went headfirst into PC building I meant it), and some other games that this computer is too powerful for. One upgrade I definitely need to consider is getting more storage, because nowadays games somehow manage to take up half an ssd.$2,239.59 -
