The point of this PC was to be a huge focus on value, not spending any money on anything unnecessary but still looking clean and with some RGB. Performance is great at 1080p and even 1440p as the RTX 3060 is still a great card for most games. The white Powerspec power supply with white cable sleeves really completes this PC as only the GPU and motherboard stand out as not matching the colour scheme.

I decided my 3rd Gen Core I7 was getting old, and here we are. I had to do some research on the latest hardware, and ended up deciding to go with AMD. It has been awhile since I built around AMD, the last time was with the Slot A Processor. I went with the MSI Tomahawk x570. It looked to have a good VRM, with almost all of the features I wanted, plus a couple of extras. It doesn't have a debug LED, but gas Bios flashback. The latter being a feature you will probably never need, but the one time you do, its priceless. Wifi 6, 2.5g lan, usb-c etc. The processor was a interesting problem. The 3600 would have been fine, 4th Gen is coming, what to do.? The 3900x went on sale, and I went all in. 32 gigs, 2 X 16 3600mhz grill Trident Z for my first try at Led's. A Corsair MP 500 ssd for the little bit extra speed. I used my previous Antec 900 watt psu, and my msi 1070 graphics card. I found a EVGA 360 AIO, and a Lian-Li PC-O11DX on sale. Added some LED fans. So far I am very happy with my choices. Its stable, fast, and has good Overclicking options to play with. Thanks Covid!

This build was made as my brother's first PC, who is also starting his first year of college this fall. So basically, this build was made for school work and some light casual gaming like League of Legends on the side. I thought it would be pretty cool and funny to have some crazy lighting going on during his online Zoom classes, hence the amount of RGB in the build. We specifically picked out parts that were good enough to last years without upgrading, except for the graphics card. With the RTX 3070 from NVIDIA coming over the horizon this month, we decided to settle on a $100 2GB card for now and will try everywhere for the 3070 when it drops. Again, remember this is mainly supposed to be a school computer, but wouldn't you agree that a 3070 in this would be beautiful :)

I wanted hands-on experience with building a PC, so this is my first PC I built. The theme is Mega Man and it's purpose is for general web-surfing and the occasional gaming. The games I play currently is Pokemon Showdown, horror games on itch.io, puppet combo games, and Hyperscape and I want to get into more games to play. As of right now I have a MSI GeForce GTX 1650 Super Aero ITX OC GPU but in thr future would love a GeForce RTX 3070. #MicroCenterMadness

Well, this is a refresh of my main gaming desktop PC. All those random gift cards acquired through the last month of holidays were using to subsidize the acquisition costs associated with on a new power supply (Corsair 100w), graphics card (7800 XT 16gb), and cpu cooler. I decided to keep my existing cpu (AMD Ryzen 5 3600) and motherboard (MSI B450 Tomahawk) because gaming benchmarks still show the 3600 to be pretty decent across the board.

The goal was a system that could do actual work at home on a budget with a clear upgrade path. Build began black friday 2019. Prices reflect current list prices per the website, not what was paid. Not intended for professional production work, hoping for a 4 year service life as primary machine. Budget was $750 to get a working system and later upgrade as needed. 3d modeling and CAD is the main purpose (less than 1,000 parts). It also does light video editing, photo editing, transcoding, and able to run most games. The most used programs still heavily rely on a single core CPU and tons of ram. It is also remotely accessed on the local network to do heavier work from a laptop and raspberry pi. The 4th gen i3 Intel laptop isn't capable of heavy tasks with out crashing so it was time for a desktop build. The 3600x faster clock speed was more important than the more cores of the 3700 for the programs used. 2 cores for 50% price increase didn't make sense for this build. Not sure if the cache would make much of a difference for typical usage. Went with x570 chipset hoping to upgrade CPU near end of next generation life to extend machine life. Not overclocking for now so using stock cooler. Needed mobo with wifi, x570, lots of usb, nvme m.2, and gigabit lan. Initially reused old PSU, Fans, Case, HDD and Sata SSD. Case is very oversized for the components but the price was right and has lots of airflow. Replaced 10 year old PSU and upgraded small Sata SSD to M.2 SSD this summer. PSU is overkill for current build but will accommodate any upgrades and 650w was out of stock. Programs with the option to CPU or GPU calculate seem to get better results with CPU but run slower. Easy to queue up the processes and let it run overnight. Choice was made to spend money on the CPU and ram over the GPU. Ray tracing video cards should improve real time productivity but the cost was not justifiable. Instead the best value card available that ran 1080p with multiple outputs was selected while waiting for the next generation of RTX cards. Ray tracing is a huge improvement for point cloud work productivity. For reference, my professional rig uses lastest gen quadro cards and 4x monitors for this kind of work. Will probably reuse the card for an ITX media center machine. The ram seems like overkill for the rest of the system but it will help with the programs currently running and allows for other parts to be upgraded without creating a bottleneck. It also left 2 ram slots open for upgrades. Highest consistent use is around 24 gb of ram. Dual channel helps too. Minimal local storage because of local NAS and off site backup. Wifi motherboard gave the flexibility to move the machine anywhere without extra cables. The couple extra dollars for the wifi motherboard was easy and better than the cost of a dedicated card. Still prefer the Ethernet connection. Added 3x salvaged optical drives for CD & DVD archive project. Raspberry pi's connected to a monitor to remote in from workshop areas. Access to plans, manuals, and videos greatly improves garage productivity. Also keeps a nice machine out of dirty, humid, and freezing environments.

I mostly play shooter games like Battlefield 5 and Rainbow 6: Siege. As my first ever PC built as a 15 year old, Snowstorm stands his place in the gaming area. Really awesome machine for 1080p gaming. Later on I would like to get an AIO cooler for my Processor but I'll have to work for it quite a lot. In the future, I would also like to change the motherboard from B350 to B550 as well as the graphics card to and RTX one and also get an m.2 ssd I always see how amazingly fast an m.2 is but id like to get one of those as well. I would really l like to experience Ray Tracing in a game like Battlefield 5. As I mentioned earlier this is my first every build. I only watched tutorial videos and that's all. I am really happy with all the things I could find in Micro center a while back because if you ask me, best place ever like no joke! As a 15 year old buy going into his sophomore year in High School, I am really PC enthusiast. I love everything about computers. Not so long ago I built a PC for my brother and I enjoyed every second of building that PC even though the parts for that build was low end. But you know a PC is a PC no matter what. Take care everyone and stay safe :)

I needed to find alternative means to do so. This then began my build, which I have not done in over 15 years. The figurine Shenlong in this case, was an homage to my favorite Gundam. As much as a Gundam is a tool for its pilot, this computer build is a tool that has allowed me to stay connected with the world. In general, I have used this for work designs, staying in touch with friends from all over the world and occasionally play Call of Duty: Warzone. I had to be very conscious in the build, as I had to find alternative means to fund this project during this difficult time. This was a great way to keep my hands busy, and allow for more productivity in general. As soon as I am able to afford more, I want to upgrade the limited used graphics card to the new 3080.

I built this machine about 2 and half years ago, for the purpose of gaming with school work mixed into it. I play a wide variety of games which changes all the time; currently sitting at playing Destiny 2, Elden Ring, and Deep Rock Galactic for the most part. Over time I've got some minor upgrades with a major; being that I added M.2s to fill the NVMe slots on the X570 and about just over a year ago, close to two years now, I upgrade my GPU from a 5700x to a 3060. More recently added the Vengeance 2x16gb RAM cards to be the most recent major upgrade I've done. I plan on in the near future upgrading my PSU to allow me some extra room for future upgrades; while also simultaneously planning on my next major upgrade of my CPU, GPU, and possibly motherboard, around the time the 50 series are released by NVIDIA.

I wanted to make something affordable, but also with an upgrade path. AMD's AM4 socket provides that flexibility. This build originally had a Ryzen 3 1200 in it, but now has a Ryzen 5 3600. (Note that the "Create a Build" does not provide a 3600 option, so I selected 3800X instead as the most similar CPU). The 3060Ti gives this a lot of performance for the target resolution of 1080P.
