I have been wanting to do a sleeper build for a while, but when I initially looked at the cases I had to choose from, I realized that I'd have to put in some elbow grease and I got deterred. 2 years later and I decided to fully commit on the idea! The most annoying part about the build is definitely the cooling; I cannot run the PC with the side panel on if I'm doing any amount of gaming as the air intake and outake between the two fans are just not good enough for it to cool the system. Had to dremel out the back of the case (similar to https://i.imgur.com/NN9qdhg.jpeg), preparing the case was a bit of a mess but it worked out in the end! I do have an unorthodox cooling setup as the back fan mount was a weird size. However, the stock fan on the stock cooler of the 5600X fit perfectly! I unfortunately broke the plastic that was keeping it connected to the AMD shroud that surrounds it, so I can no longer claim warranty on it at Micro Center. I had to drill holes in the metal portion in the front of the case (behind the plastic cover that goes over front I/O). I also had to drill holes in the Gateway piece that attaches to that cover so that air flows through it slightly better. I also had to buy a 3.5" to 5.5" adapter to mount my HDD inside the PC. I tried 3D printing out a mount but it did not screw into the piece so I bought a $5 adapter from Amazon. It gets the job done, but I had to use the black front piece that covers it as opposed to the original PC case piece, as the original juts out enough to where it does not fit.$1,466.92 -

The Chimera is a powerhouse machine designed to be both an aesthetic statement as well as fully functional for streaming whatever games I want to stream. It was given the name Chimera as a suggestion from a viewer that was watching me upgrade the cooling loop on Twitch. The original name of this system was the Kraken. For me monsters and demons are part of my theme thus every one of my personal builds will be named after some sort of "dark" creature. This is currently version 2.0 of this build as I have learned and tried new things. I started out with a kit that I got from Alphacool with a Laing DDC pump and single 360x30mm radiator that I had expanded to two of as well as the Helix reservoir and the V2 DPP 755. Version 1.5 as described is what I had been running for my cooling for the last year. I decided that since I had to take everything apart for the one year cleaning event that I might as well take the opportunity to go ahead and upgrade the loop as a whole. There was a leak that occurred during my first build iteration that caused the RGB lighting in the GPU block to short out, which is something that is getting fixed at the beginning of April. I'm also taking that opportunity to drain the loop and make the loop order a little more efficient. This has been my first liquid cooling loop, and I chose this particular case to build into because of the unboxing video JayzTwoCents did on it. One of the biggest issues I had when it came to the upgrades I've done on the loop thus far was the pressure of the loop itself. In one iteration I considered I was going to have an Eisball pump/res combo but that ended up getting scratched. While I love everything about this build once I got everything working and without any leaking I realized a few things I could have, and will be doing differently as I already have the parts needed on order. First some extra 90º fittings, one of which will be getting placed on the bottom of the reservoir with a 10mm extension. From there I'm going to take the quick disconnect from the bottom radiator and move it to the pump with the black top's out port with a 90º fitting while taking another 90º fitting and putting it on the acrylic top pump with a direct downflow into the bottom radiator. I realized this should have been done solely for the purpose of being able to remove the bottom and front rads with the pumps and reservoir still attached without having to drain either one after taking a good long hard look at the loop order. Along with replacing the RGB strip in my GPU block I will be replacing the stock Red Devil backplate with one made by Alphacool and adding a 45º fitting on the end of the port that it fills the top radiator thru allowing a shorter run there as well. I'm switching the in/out ports on the back radiator and rerouting the connection between the two radiators to go around the quick disconnect on the reservoir while also adding a final quick disconnect to the front radiator allowing both radiators to be removed without having to drain the loop, if need be. The backplate replacement is only to help clean things up in the look. Other little additions are the 90º 24-pin ATX and two 8-pin 180º PCI-E power adapters and the LinkUp PCI-E Gen 4 riser cable. The first few photos are the original layout I attempted a year ago with the kit I bought from Alphacool, followed by the final layout once I got the Helix res and D5 pump. The third photo is of an iteration I had considered using the Alphacool Eisball pump/res combo that ended up not working out. Most of the games I play are found on Steam, Blizzard, Epic Games, LoL, Valorant, etc. I'm a OIF/OEF Vet myself, my teenage kids wanted to get into PC gaming (they're "upgrading" from consoles/Fortnite) and I come from an automotive repair background so putting together a PC is trivial in comparison to an engine or fine tuning suspension for an auto cross track. Anywho, future upgrades to include the new 6800 XT or some 3080's were available but I'll deal with having 5700 XT's for now as a place holder. Almost returned both these NZXT cases (still within 30day window) and buy 2 new Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini cases + 12*LL120 case fans but too lazy to take apart both PC components JUST to have the NEW case.$3,267.86 -

It wasn't an easy process to do so please, bear with me. I've always wanted to build a gaming pc because of the performance and the content creator aspect that PC's made so easy. The main problem, however, was always money for one thing. As a 15 year old, if I wanted this to happen, I'd have to make it happen myself. So, me and a couple friends got together and worked to wash cars all summer. We made a good amount of money doing it also. At least more than working at a movie theatre or fast food restraunt. Finally, in November, my parents said they'd let me build it since my greats were extremely good. My local Microcenter in Marietta made it SO easy to help modify my design and to help me get the parts I needed for my build. Just walking around I was never short of a staff member asking me if I needed any help finding anything. On thanksgiving day, I built my pc with my brother who's 16, who has yet to build a pc since he didn't get enough money due to getting few hours at the job he got because of Covid-19. However, I'm determined to make content on either Rocket League or Cyberpunk 2077 when it drops on the 10th. However, for that I need a webcam and a mic, which is what I'd use the money for. However, I never would've been able to make my setup and pc if it weren't for y'all at Micro Center, so regardless if I win, thank you. Your staff members were so polite and everything worked perfectly. I played on a gaming laptop for awhile but it was time to build something for myself and call it my own. I built it to be able to play with my friends who also built their own PCs. Also there was quite the incentive when I realized the greater performance you get on a PC when compared to a console, especially when playing cross-platform games. I play Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch, and Destiny 2 mainly. It definitely was a fun time putting it all together with the help of my roommates. I can definitely tell the difference from my Xbox One and my gaming laptop (which had a 1660ti in it). It runs very smooth and boots up super quick with the M.2 drive. At first I was a tad hesitant to get an AMD card because Nvidia is the top dog but so far, I've had no regrets as it has proven itself worthy for giving my the frames I want in games.$1,457.87 -

My last computer was getting a little long in the tooth and, since we can't travel anywhere, our vacation plans were put on hold. Most of that money went into savings, but SOME of it I earmarked to upgrade from an fx-6300 and gtx 1060 to what you see before you. I am notoriously difficult to shop for and I thought a few PC parts would be a great gift idea for my significant other. While not much of a surprise, the parts were exactly what I wanted. While I am still fine tuning the fans and noise levels, this machine satisfies all my needs. So far, I've been using it to play Control (because hey, new rig, new game) and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. It hasn't made me any better at gaming, but I'm having fun and I'd say that's what it's all about at the end of the day. Had I had it to do over again, I might have held out a little longer for the newer graphics cards, but just like anywhere else, better tech is ALWAYS just around the corner.$2,141.88
