Built this AMD 8700G PC for coding and running programs that I need for my mad science lab, but looks like it will be my wife's PC instead. She will use it for general PC activities including some casual 1080p gaming (Secret World Legends, Entropia, and others that I don't know the names of). A few years from now, if her old Nvidia/Intel based gaming PC breaks down then I may overclock this one and/or add a video card, or maybe even drop in a new CPU. Am using the heat sink that came with the 8700G CPU, and during a bit of gaming the temp never got above 32 degrees C so I won't be upgrading to water cooling. It has very low power use and it is whisper quiet.$1,335.90 -

I built this computer because for 3 years, I have been limited to playing games such as Fortnite and Minecraft on my old pc, which had an AMD Ryzen 3, Integrated graphics, and I would always have to turn down my game settings to the very lowest possible just to squeeze out 30fps. It was difficult doing even schoolwork on this computer, and one day after having to pay $300 dollars just to get an issue fixed, I decided that I was going to start saving up for a computer which would be much better than the one I currently had. I saved up all the money I could, and after almost a year of waiting I finally built it. With this new setup, I plan to play games I could have never played before, such as Rainbow Six Seige, Starfield, and more which I will discover. If I could go back, I would switch to an NZXT H6 Flow as opposed the H9, due to its similar look and the RGB version being cheaper than the H9 and coming with RGB fans. I would also switch the motherboard, since this current one only has one ARGB header, making me have to daisy chain 11 argb devices into one header. In future upgrades I plan to add some Lian-Li strimers, as they will look much better than the stock cables I have right now.$1,427.88 -

My first ever PC build, where I wanted to make absolutely no compromises on airflow, as I've had bad experiences in the past from premade systems. I was very pleased to find out I had no trouble getting the PC to work. The case was great to build in, and the video helped a ton in feeling secure as a newbie. I did have to replace the originally included side fans (non-RGB) out of necessity, because they made an uncomfortable humming sound, and also weren't PWM, which did not allow me the control that I wanted. Also, I didn't know originally, how much LEDs actually enhance the beauty of a build, if you don't use red, green or rainbow colors.$1,714.73 -

I used to just buy pre-built PCs before and ever since my previous one died, I've decided to have a go. Was surprised how relatively easy it was. Granted, however, that I've invested quite some hours into youtube and reddit studying the topic lol. Happy how it turned out, the next step will be to buy a vertical GPU mount and to wait until my NZXT hub arrives, so I can connect the Streamer Lian Li cables. It's the third PC I have built but this time it's the first AM5 build so it was still a great learning experience. Fortunately I didn't run into any problems whilst building this and everything fits beautifully together. I highly recommend the NZXT H9 Flow case. It's large compared to other mid-tower cases which makes everything fit together easily, and it's a beautiful case with the glassy panel. I mainly use this PC to play video games. I have played Elden Rings and Dead Space Remakes on this PC, and it runs great. I am anticipating the GTA 6 release, but It will probably be released 2 years later. I will describe my thought process with some of the components and if you have any questions I’d be happy to share my experience. CPU - I chose the Ryzen 5 7600x because my main activity was gaming and I got a great deal on it at $199. I game mostly at 1440p and 4k so it handles everything I throw at it extremely well. Generally when gaming I don’t see temps over 75 C. On cinebench, my score is around 15k. Starfield seems to run a little hotter than other games (even Cyberpunk) CPU Cooler - Thermalright Peerless assassin RGB - seems to work pretty well overall. Make sure it fits in your case, it’s pretty big. RGB lights sync well with all the other lights in the case. Installation was pretty simple overall. GPU - I originally had the rx 6800 but was a little underwhelmed with the performance. Specifically on Elden Ring, my PS5 seemed to play it better. I decided to sell that and upgrade to the 7900 XT and wow, this GPU is awesome. I’m playing Cyberpunk on Ultra settings with no RT and I’m getting around 120 fps on average in 1440p. My TimeSpy score is around 25,000. The only drawback is RayTracing, but personally I don’t really notice a huge difference except the drop in FPS… so RT is not really important to me. I also love the 20 GB of VRAM and feel like that’s going to future proof the build well. Case - H5 Flow - This case was really easy to build in for a first time builder. I really like the GPU fan at the bottom of the case. My GPU always stays pretty cool compared to my CPU. Also the RGB fans are really nice looking. Motherboard - B650 tomahawk - I liked this MB mainly because it had a pre installed IO shield. I also think that the MSI bios is pretty easy to navigate and tweak settings. I made sure to update the BIOS as soon as everything posted. PSU - Corsair 1000w - Works very well. Plenty of headroom for future upgrades.$1,842.46 -

Pair with a super ultrawide OLED display. The purpose is for pure gaming, no work, so and manage and remove all the windows and motherboard bloatware, and the build is super smooth, quiet, cool, fast, and efficient. The AMD processor has 16 physical cores and 32 logical cores not so much for productivity, but for increased headroom and future proofing for when games begin to inevitably make better use of it in the foreseeable future. Although with 32 logical cores, some good productivity is on the table, but not recommended if using with an OLED monitor for risk of burn in due to static images. This is meant only for gaming with headroom to spare. I will admit the $300 AIO liquid cooling system is slightly indulgent, but I didn't want to risk it with expensive CPU, and there were not a lot of reliable reviews and testimonies for the cheaper coolers at the time, so it would have been a real gamble to go with one of the cheaper ones.$3,589.93 -

Built this on 08/02/2023 for gaming, SPECIFICALLY STARFIELD AND CYBERPUNK. My first personal build in about 12 years. Coming from a i7 3770k/1080, I was getting 30 - 40 fps on medium settings for the most recent AAA games on my old rig. Now I can max everything and still get 100+ fps. Feels good lol. The 7800x3d is awesome and the 4090 is a beast. Running this on a 3440x1440 100hz G-sync monitor, it doesn't break a sweat even when running Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts legacy with full ray tracing. Some of the games I play are Chivalry 2, Counter Strike, Fallout 4, Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption, Baldur's Gate 3, and Sid Meier's Pirates. Also STARFIELD. I CAN'T WAIT. JUST 27 MORE DAYS. After years of research and hesitation, I finally bit the bullet and purchased my first build gear. Intended to replace my 2020 HP desktop workhorse (home office/school machine) with increased processing power, memory, and storage, I built a machine that I can play most of my favorite pc and console games on. It's not an over the top super machine, but I can play the Fallout series with no issues! I'm still new to this, and have plenty to learn. But I will likely add a dedicated GPU soon to help game on highest settings. I think for my next build, I would probably take a step down on the CPU, and put a little more into graphics performance. Starfield is coming!! After all of the horror stories I have heard about first time builders ruining motherboards or processors due to common mistakes, I was absolutely petrified when I first pressed the power button on my brand new custom built PC, and not a single light or fan powered on. After triple checking every connection and wire I could find, my wife was kind enough to point out that I hadn't switched on the PSU. I felt like a complete doofus! I've been using cheap pre-builts since my last build and finally decided to treat myself again. I wanted to be able to dabble in 3D rendering and get back into gaming. This build should do the trick. The build went fairly smoothly. I only had to uninstall and redo the AIO once, since I wasn't able to get it to reach the CPU the first way I had it installed. It's possible I just had it wrong, but by that point I just wanted it done. :) As for the parts, the power supply may be a bit overkill. I wasn't sure which one to pick so while discussing it with the sales person they suggested this one. Since it will most likely outlast the other parts and wasn't that much more than one of the other options I had selected before heading to the store, I went with the suggested power supply. So far I'm happy with it. My simple "beginner" renders that took an hour or more on my last PC now take a minute or two... and games run smoothly. Temps stay cool, and it's not too loud under normal use. The GPU fans do make some noise under load, but not too bad. I haven't changed anything from the stock settings so far.$2,439.94 -

Coming from a mid range computer that was build when I was still new to the whole building process, this was a big leap for me. Since STALKER 2 was officially "re-announced", I decided I needed to build a beast of a computer, since I wanted to experience the best looking and best performing version of this long overdue game from my favorite game franchise. Beyond that, I've been playing my other favorites like Borderlands, DayZ, and a heavy modded Fallout without a hitch. Peripherals are A Steelseries Apex Pro full, Steelseries Aerox 9, and Sennheiser X DROP PC38X. Monitor is an AOC 27" 2K with 144Hz refresh and 1ms response. I installed 2 front A-14s, and they can get loud. However, I have curved them so they can still push more air than the 2 NF-A12 exhausts while still keeping things cool. Of course, on the rare chance it gets too toasty, then the noise is a compromise I'll have to make. One more note, I used an old android phone as a resource monitor to top it all off.$3,585.50 -

I had an aging 9 year old alienware area 51 prebuild that has surprisingly served me well for all this time. I've been waiting to build a new pc for a while and with all the black friday deals I jumped for it. As someone who hangs onto there computer for a while I built this with upgradability in mind. I was really impressed with the socket life of AM4 and hoping to get at least 2 more generations of CPUs for AM5 (Zen6). I realistically see myself upgrading my monitor (1080p 144hz) in the next 1-2 years and will probably upgrade my GPU around the same time. Since I'm still using 1080p and gddr7 coming out at some point in the future on top of the crazy priced new GPU's I thought getting the RX 6750 XT would be a good option for my setup without going too overkill. Whenever AM5 hits end of life I see myself upgrading my CPU again like how people right now are dropping in Zen 3 into there older builds.$1,328.94 -
