My main goal with Redshift was converting the processor and graphics card to AMD and this build accomplishes that. In the previous build, I mentioned that Redshift was the only desktop computer in the household, but not anymore. As for Redshift, that computer still has the same components from the last time that I updated it and has become a computer that my sister uses often. I went through implementing VLANs into the network, but the process did not go as smoothly as I thought it would be. At first, I bought the Ubiquiti EdgeRouterX and tried to utilize Link Aggregation Groups (LAG) with the Netgear GS110TPP; but after hours of trying, this never worked. Later, I realized that the router was not going to work well with the symmetrical gigabit connection from the Internet Service Provider (ISP), so I returned the router and sold the GS110TPP to someone else. Then, Ubiquiti announced the Unifi Dream Router (UDR) which I was seriously considering getting, but that was not capable of 1 gigabit Intrusion Protection System or Intrusion Protection System (IDS/IPS). I also started buying open-box Unifi switches from Micro Center which expanded to 4 Flex Mini and a Lite 8 PoE. After the plans for a UDR fell through, I liked working with the interface on the EdgeRouterX, especially with Command Line Interface (CLI), so I got an EdgeRouter12 which could take full advantage of the speeds provided by the ISP and shifted the Unifi Network host to a Raspberry Pi 4. Then, Ubiquiti announced the Cloud Gateway Ultra (CGU) when I had owned the router for a few months. Unlike the UDR, the CGU could do 1 gigabit IDS/IPS, but this gateway did not have the ability to host other Unifi applications like protect, talk, or access. I was okay with that because I wanted some redundancy for Unifi protect and set my sights on the Unifi Network Video Recorder (UNVR). Making my decision, I purchased the CGU which unintentionally made Unifi the main part of the network. One day the network experienced some sort of outage which unplugging and plugging the power cable into the router could not fix. In desperation to bring the network back online, the CGU began to be the key part of the network and eventually some VLANs were implemented including an IoT network which used 3 Linksys WHW03B along with a few shelves. Continuing on the Unifi path, I bought a couple of open-box Unifi U6 Pro at Micro Center while I was on a shopping trip with my mother. This was derailed by my father, who was disappointed in me because he did not approve of the purchase and added to my pile of networking stuff which I told him that I would sell most of them. Despite how much I wanted to keep them, he was strongly against me owning them, so I had to go back to Micro Center with her to return them. A few months have passed and I am selling most of my Linksys stuff that I had built up over the years. At some point, I acquired a Verizon CR1000A to provide additional coverage with the Verizon G3100 that was the main part of the network which allowed my father to sell his ASUS routers. Now he approves the purchase of the Unifi U6 Pro and I am waiting again for some open-box ones unless some other opportunity presents itself.$3,683.25 -

Managed switches has been something that interests me, so I decided to pursue that with the LGS308P. Browsing through the settings, I found one titled VLAN and did some research, along with diagrams, to figure out how to integrate VLANs into the network. Considering my passion in PC building and networking, I am unsure whether or not to go through with my VLAN integration.$3,587.80 -

I always have liked to build my own PC compared to a pre-built desktop or a laptop. It lets me get the best bang for my bucks and also customize it the way I like. Regarding usage, it was mainly built for gaming, programming, watching movies and general day-to-day usage. My friends used to come to my house and play games (specially Apex: Legends) and we liked watching movies together (specially horror movies on the Xiaomi 34" Ultrawide screen at night!)$3,112.97 -

A couple years back I bought my first PC as a prebuilt as my 6-7 year old ps4 started to die. Skipping all the nitty gritty and fast forwarding to the present, I’m now a fully fledged PC-Building enthusiast that’d totally spend hours building PCs over and over if they could. This rig is meant for both gaming AND productivity. For gaming it drives a 4k 240hz Samsung Neo G8 Monitor and does extremely well with every game I throw at it save for the most unoptimized games. The current games I find myself playing right now include Alan Wake 2, Battlefield 2042, and Counter-Strike 2. It is an absolute pleasure playing anything with this setup. Ontop of 4k and 240Hz I also play in HDR. It doesn’t really give me a competitive advantage but boy do games look even more amazing with HDR on. Alan Wake 2 is incredibly mastered for HDR and I wouldn’t play it without it on. In terms of productivity I also have a drawing tablet hooked up to this pc so I can draw on it. It’s not terribly demanding on the hardware so a lot of the spec of this rig is absolutely overkill for this kind of work, but every bit of power definitely helps rendering the largest projects I do. The 32GB of ram I have installed is an absolute necessity for the kind of work that I do and while a 5800X3D isn’t really a productivity chip, it definitely gets the job done. Especially since nothing I do demands high frequency clock speeds. Overall, this is absolutely a dream build for me. I’m lucky to be able to acquire this kind of hardware. It’s practically my pride and joy. There are some upgrades I’d like to do when I get the money and the chance. That includes personalization, probably some Lian Li Strimer cables. That’s more of a luxury thing than a necessity so naturally those would be the last thing on my things to put in. I’d probably also unplug everything so I can do some better cable management. I built a pc for my friend and am quite jealous of the better cable management I did for him since, at the time, I just knew better. In terms of actual upgraded hardware. I’d probably upgrade to a ddr5 platform down the road, either with the current newest gen or with a future gen down the road.$2,502.91 -
