For games, I enjoy racing sims and racing arcade games such as Project CARS 2 and 3, Forza, and Assetto Corsa Competizione in VR at 4k 90hz. For AI, I run large language models locally, which takes a ton of memory bandwidth and capacity. Microcenter offered a great price on an i7 12700k, which can run my 64GB DDR5 kit at 6200 MT/s. To get the full 6600 MT/s that my kit is rated for, I can uprgrade to a 14th gen chip at a later time if I choose. The massive VRMs of this system's motherboard, the MSI Z690 Ace, should have no issues with the higher core count and power draw of 14th gen. Still, I am pleased with the i7 12700k's performance right now. Upgrading to 12th gen from my old 10th gen setup doubled my memory bandwidth and almost doubled the speed of my large language models. The Gigabyte 3090 Ti is a great VR and AI card too: 24GB VRAM is not a limiting factor in gaming, and almost every VR game runs better on Nvidia than AMD. 24GB VRAM is the sweet spot at this time for AI.$1,824.98 -

For the most demanding games i play regularly: Squad, Arma, DCS; it stays very coool never get's over 60 on the cpu and gpu.$1,600.85 -

I posted my previous build before saying I would upgrade some parts, but I went ahead and replaced mostly everything. I went from a Ryzen 5 3600 to and Intel 17-12700k. This processor is freaking nuts. Micro had a bundle sale on it with a Z690 Tuf motherboard and ram. Continuing on, I went from an UpHere air cooler to the Lian Ali Galahad. This aio works wonders with this cpu, 75 degrees and high loads, 30 resting. I also went from 6600xt to a 6750xt. For 100 dollars more, it's worth every cent. It just performs so well with games in general. I average 124fps on high settings with 2k res on Hogwarts. I added 16gigs of more Ram for multitasking purposes, it also looks better with all four films filled up. Lastly, I added a mini monitor for temps and whatnot. I generally got it cause it looks cool. It does have high res tho!$1,598.88 -

The aim of this build was a white, upper mid-tier gaming machine with a smaller footprint with a price point under $1500. This was my first time working with the Micro ATX format, I'm happy to be able to start building smaller, lighter machines. The Jonsbo case worked quite well and was overall pretty easy to work with and had plenty of room for everything (the GPU and 140mm bottom mounted case fans were the most difficult parts). The wiring is a bit of a mess, but it's mostly hidden behind the SSD panel. The look could be improved a bit with white power supply cables and perhaps some better finagling of the GPU power connector, but it's fine for us as is.$1,524.92
