I built it because I am a 3rd year college student and it was time to upgrade from my 500 dollar laptop. I play some games on it, it runs gta pretty well, I also played a free game team fortress two and it’s very smooth. I still have some cable management to do but I was in a bit of a time crunch so that will be my next task with it.$1,402.91 -

I played on a gaming laptop for awhile but it was time to build something for myself and call it my own. I built it to be able to play with my friends who also built their own PCs. Also there was quite the incentive when I realized the greater performance you get on a PC when compared to a console, especially when playing cross-platform games. I play Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch, and Destiny 2 mainly. It definitely was a fun time putting it all together with the help of my roommates. I can definitely tell the difference from my Xbox One and my gaming laptop (which had a 1660ti in it). It runs very smooth and boots up super quick with the M.2 drive. At first I was a tad hesitant to get an AMD card because Nvidia is the top dog but so far, I've had no regrets as it has proven itself worthy for giving my the frames I want in games.$1,457.87 -

I have been wanting to do a sleeper build for a while, but when I initially looked at the cases I had to choose from, I realized that I'd have to put in some elbow grease and I got deterred. 2 years later and I decided to fully commit on the idea! The most annoying part about the build is definitely the cooling; I cannot run the PC with the side panel on if I'm doing any amount of gaming as the air intake and outake between the two fans are just not good enough for it to cool the system. Had to dremel out the back of the case (similar to https://i.imgur.com/NN9qdhg.jpeg), preparing the case was a bit of a mess but it worked out in the end! I do have an unorthodox cooling setup as the back fan mount was a weird size. However, the stock fan on the stock cooler of the 5600X fit perfectly! I unfortunately broke the plastic that was keeping it connected to the AMD shroud that surrounds it, so I can no longer claim warranty on it at Micro Center. I had to drill holes in the metal portion in the front of the case (behind the plastic cover that goes over front I/O). I also had to drill holes in the Gateway piece that attaches to that cover so that air flows through it slightly better. I also had to buy a 3.5" to 5.5" adapter to mount my HDD inside the PC. I tried 3D printing out a mount but it did not screw into the piece so I bought a $5 adapter from Amazon. It gets the job done, but I had to use the black front piece that covers it as opposed to the original PC case piece, as the original juts out enough to where it does not fit.$1,466.92 -

I'm not a big fan of RGB and because I can never do thing the easy way, I decided to do a custom case mod. So I built a Honduran mohogany desk that also acts as the case for the pc. Honduran Mahogany is the most stable wood you can use for furniture from an expansion and stability standpoint. Currently as it stands now, I haven’t oiled it yet, which will come when soon. It’s only version one and because I’m obsessive, I’m going to likely be working on another very soon to make it even better. I’ve got through 4 desks in the past 2 years and after the first 3 just decided I had to do it myself. I also host an Apache web server on Ubuntu server on a separate machine, so v2 of this desk will a dual or triple motherboard configuration, much cleaner, and water cooled so I can allow for much lower clearance configurations. It took me many many hours of work and many late nights because my shop is 2 hours away so I have to maximize the time I spend there! I’m a professional consultant for big home projects during my day job, and it was nice to take some of that energy and put it into my own home project, which is something I don’t always get the chance to do. I actually built this gaming rig back in 2012 as my first gaming PC; however the case was released in 2008. I bought an intel core i5 3570k with an asus P8V-LX Z-77 motherboard. I had 8GB (4x2) of corsair ddr3 1600 and a radeon hd 6850. I got a laptop later down the road which replaced the rig. The rig was left in the basement for years to come. Years later (2020), I searched the basement and found the old rig covered in cob web and dust. This was a great project to begin working on during quarantine. It took a while to remove all of the old parts and customize the case to my liking. I had to use a dremel to saw off a piece of the drive bay area, so that I can fit a 11+ inch GPU. I mainly use this as a everthing to do and game computer. I love to game on league of legends, Grand Theft Auto 5, Dying Light, other story games: A Plague Tale Innocence, Far Cry, Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Witcher 3 and more. The goal was to hit 120+ FPS on high/ultra @ 1080p and this build proved more!$1,488.89 -

I completely love Star Wars, and it's somehow themed after a balance of the Force, known as the color white. To completely show the balance, I bought 2 Displates and made my setup between these two Pictures. Because I love Star Wars, my favorite game is ofc. Star Wars Battlefront II, which has absolute mindstunning Graphics. My plans are now ofc. to upgrade to a 3070 and buy a AIO (most likely the Corsair H100i) with Corsair LL120 fans, because my Setup has very much Corsair Products, such as my keyboard, headset, RAM, case etc.$1,489.92 -

I upgrade my graphics card overtime from a 660ti to gtx 970 to now my 2070 Super. The motherboard can’t have a new cpu, so I’m stuck on the intel 3rd generation. I would love to start fresh when the intel 11th gen comes out because I do wedding video editing and plan to move to 4K editing. I also stream so a fast cpu/gpu combo would be nice. I’m eyeing the 2080ti. Also I would like to get one big monitor instead of two monitors.$1,490.95 -

And truthfully, I've never ever built one completely from scratch. I've tinkered and upgraded, but never a full on build. I built this computer to play RTX games like Control, other third person action games, FPS games of all kinds, and those "walking simulators" like Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch. I LOVE a great game story. I mostly play PC games like Destiny 2 and Deliver us the Moon... as well as fun VR games like Half-Life: Alyx & Beat Saber. I also love to stream with my family with games like Davigo VR, Fall Guys, Minecraft, Overwatch, Fortnite, Splitgate, Among Us, and others! Our Twitch channel is BurtonFamGaming. This rig is a gaming, VR, streaming PC... mostly for me (Dad), but also for the whole family (only... with Dad's permission of course. Only I have the password) :-D If I could go back, I might have waited a few months so I could purchase a 3080... but oh well. :-) I researched this for most of quarantine before finally building it about 4 weeks ago... so frankly, there's not much I would change about how I built it. The ONLY thing I wish I had done was perhaps get an X570 board or the ROG Strix B550-E so I'd get that Gen 2 Type C front header. I also plan to upgrade to 32 gigs of ram before long... but besides that, I'm really happy with it!$1,494.91 -
