I had some spare parts lying around, so I decided to see what I could cobble together in the most ridiculous system possible. This is not a serious system, but I sure find it funny to look at. It's probably coming apart later when I get bored poking at it. So far it tries to turn on and output video, but my monitor refuses to show an image on the screen and displays a message about being unable to display the desired resolution. This is basically a single board computer with a bunch of nonsense tacked on. The GPU is ornamental, and has the only fan present in this computer. The CPU cooler is entirely passive, and I'm pretty sure this board doesn't even need any fans given that this line of CPUs caps out at 10W. Look at the price listed and then look at the components. The majority of this price is the case and PSU, which were used only because they weren't currently being used. This really would be better suited to use a cheapo PSU out of a 10 year old prebuilt and a cardboard box.$203.98 -

I made this excellent PC on a budget for my wife during last thanksgiving. I made this on a barebone HP prebuilt shell that I bought online for just 55 USD. It came with gold-certified 450W PSU, case, compatible CPU cooler, and HP motherboard. I supplemented the rest with new parts from Microcenter. These include a 5600G CPU, 16GB (8x2) DDR4 3200 MHz Ram, Inland 256GB SSD, Acer 1080P monitor, Redragon keyboard an mice set. She is super happy as it is almost silent and gets all her job done (writing and light gaming).$226.97 -

He loves a lot of the "simulator" games for some reason and was complaining that the game Cooking Simulator wouldn't run at an acceptable level on an aging (~2017) laptop notebook with no discrete video card. So since it was around Christmas time, I decided for the "give a man to fish / teach a man to fish" approach. I pieced together a very modest collection of desktop components. Some of these were older, retired components such as a dated power supply and graphics card. Others were available to acquire at little expense at my local Microcenter. But the whole point of this process was to create an affordable, entry-level stepping stone for him. And also to have components that were fairly replaceable in value in the event something went wrong or accidents were made.$229.96 -
