It's for VR gaming and general gaming as well. I previously used a Dell G5 5000 equipped with a GTX 1660 TI, but I got tired of having slow performance, so I decided to build this pc. I only have around 1.3k to spend on this, so no state of art parts. But overall, I am happy with performance and thermals of this build. This is my first time building a PC, so my cable management is hideous. I will try to clean it up a bit later when I got time.$1,115.97 -

This PC was my first ever build and currently my only however I am in the process of searching for new parts for a second. I built this to experiment with computer building and have learned much for my mistakes and things I have overlooked. Such as cheeping out on some parts I now realize are important and now hold me back. This is mainly used to game. With games such as COD, CSGO, Rainbow 6, fallout, payday, Minecraft, flight sim, Star Wars, and much much more. It is also used as a workstation for AUTODESK CAD programs such as Inventor, Maya, and fusion. This is also my daily driver for things like homework and other things too. But overall mostly gaming$1,117.91 -

Built this rig back in 2017 as my first build, its received quite a few upgrades over the years and thought id redo the build showcase here as its a far cry from its original self. Original cost was around $950 and has had a couple hundred more poured into it, still is able to run AAA titles at 60fps 1080p and esports titles well over 240. Parts list today: CPU: i5-7600k GPU: PNY GTX 1080 XLR8 MOBO: Gigabyte Z270-SLI RAM: 4x8Gb Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB PSU: Corsair CX650M Storage: 2x 1TB SSDs, 1x 256Gb NVME Case: NZXT S340 Cooling: Corsair H100i Platinum Fans: 2x ML120 RGB, 2x SP120 RGB December 2017 Rev0: CPU: i5-7600k GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1060 Windforce OC MOBO: Gigabyte Z270-SLI RAM: 2x4gb G.Skill Ripjaws 2133Mhz PSU: Corsair CX650M Storage: 1tb Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm HDD, Random small SSD Case: NZXT S340 Cooling: Hyper 212 Evo Fans: Stock NZXT, Corsair red LED fans Originally was a pretty middle of the road build, did what I needed to at the time but it caused me to go down a deeper rabbit hole in the custom PC building space meaning I was upgrading pretty soon after completing the build, this was also when it was a red/black color scheme before I changed it to the "Skeletor" theme it has today. You can find the original build here Early 2018 Rev0.1: Had a hard drive failure on my main storage drive which was extremely disheartening and sad considering how new the PC was but I bit the bullet and bought a 1tb SSD to replace it and it was wonderful getting a noticeable increase in some games as the other SSD I had was only large enough for windows and some programs. Late 2018 Rev1: First major upgrade to my build, the 1060 wasn't cutting it for the maxed out gaming I was doing anymore so I sold it off to fund a PNY GTX 1080 xlr8, not the most beautiful 1080 on the market but still a dual fan cooler and 1080 performance so I made a custom back-plate out of acrylic slapped it on and called it a day. Around this time I also added 2 more 4gb sticks of ram bumping the total to 16gb as well as 256gb NVME to put windows on. Mid 2019 Rev2: After about a year I had another urge to upgrade, this time was because of my new interest in overclocking. My Hyper212 wasnt able to cool the amount of heat the 7600k was outputting at some heavier overclocks and there was a pretty nice sale on a CorsairH100i Platinum RGB so I picked that up to cool down the space heater of a chip the 7600k is. The cooler came with 2 RGB ML120s and the stock black fans of the S340 had their bearings going bad making a pretty annoying noise so I got a SP120 RGB 3 pack to pair with the ML120s as they were about $40 a piece at the time and the SP120s I got for $50 a three pack, colors matched up pretty well and it still was all within the same lighting software so i'm satisfied with that purchase. Today Rev3: During lock down with nothing better to do and a $1200 stimulus check I made another major upgrade to the build, aesthetically the biggest one yet, I took nearly the entire build apart to repaint the case accents from red to purple and it turned out wonderfully. Going for the nostalgia of the Masters of the universe days (though it ended a couple years before I was born, still loved the show) I updated my entire setup to go for the genuine Skeletor look. After painting I ditched the red G.Skill ram and got a 4x8gb kit of Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB ram to go with the whole iCue lighting set up, also added another 1tb SSD for more game storage as my other two were near capacity. Popped a little Skeletor figure in the case and the upgrades were done. 3 year old PC still is able to put up numbers in AAA titles at max settings on 1080p, hopefully she'll be kicking for another couple years.$1,117.96 -

I got an older retro case from my boss and decided to finally make a sleeper build. It was missing a side panel, so I modeled one and had it laser cut from plexiglass. Used all Noctua fans to try and match the beige case and for great cooling. The case also had minimal cooling (as the previous PC did not need it), so I needed to cut a hole in the top for a fan and get creative with some other fan placements. I play mostly last-gen games, so performance was chosen to be pretty middle ground. I also tend to do a lot of system admin related tasks, so having strange drives like a hot-swap SATA bay helps immensely. I also like retro PC tasks, so I added an adapter to make the floppy disk drive function as a USB device. Overall wonderful build, the only thing I would do differently is try to add more USB ports, as this case does not have any front-panel ports and not enough rear ones. I would like to eventually paint the two drives in front, but have yet to find the time.$1,118.42 -

As far as games, I play World of Warcraft and numerous games on Steam. Games range from 8 bit retro throwbacks to more popular games like the XCOM series, Company of Heroes 2, Civilization VI and Total War: Three Kingdoms. With 3D design, I wanted to get more into this because of my hobby of woodworking and making things. I've done everything from small handheld carvings to furniture like bookcases and coffee tables. I wanted to be able to use SketchUp and have a good platform for learning Fusion 360.$1,118.93 -
