The 7700k is delidded to keep temperatures in check and was able to overclock to 5.0GHz but left it on XMP stock to not risk anything. I stripped the finish off of aluminum accents to make them match and give a slightly cleaner look. I also peeled the labels off of the drives to match the styling. Temps are fairly cool considering the size of the case. To be used by one of my kids to play their Steam Library and playing Minecraft. Also leaning towards getting everything ASUS Strix (MB/GPU) as they match in aesthetics.$614.99 -

I wanted to go current gen AMD, but was not sure about stability with 4 sticks DDR5 and Ryzen7000. I've heard it is doable but only at speeds below 4400 MT/s. I ended up with tried-and-true 5950x and DDR4 cranked up to 3200 MT/s. Went with matte black, no-RGB and no sleeved cables.$1,858.91 -

After a couple of years of having an SFF gaming build, I decided that I want to go back to ATX. This build is a combination of reusing parts from the past along with black friday buys. I play Overwatch, Counter Strike 2, Valheim, Elden Ring, and lately have been playing all of the Kingdom Hearts game at 4k. The 3070 works well at 4k for me. On less demanding games I can fully saturate my 160hz 4k monitor, and at more intensive games I can reach 80fps with some graphics tweaks. I plan to upgrade to the 5800x3d, and in the future plan to upgrade to the next gen gpu's, but my 3070 has been treating me great so far so not really pressured to upgrade my gpu yet.$1,194.96 -

I built this pc because I wanted a small portable gaming system that can fit in my backpack. It allows me to take the pc on the go and play games at a friend's house or at a hotel. The only game I played so far on it is Yakuza 0 and it runs great at 60fps considering I am only using the AMD integrated graphics. I build this pc for my littler brother who just wanted to get back into gaming since his razer laptop bit the dust recently. Luckily, one of my friends is upgrading their pc and they were looking to sell some of their old parts. These parts are a nice upgrade from his 2017 razor laptop. He didn't want a case, more like outright refusing to buy, so i respected his wishes and built it. Dust would most likely be an issue, however, he's cleans his entire gaming setup twice a week so I guess it won't be as much of an issue. He's using this to play games like Phasmophobia, Overwatch, and more recently Lethal Company at 4k. What surprised me is that even at 4k the 3070 is still very capable, and for those less demanding games like Overwatch he was able to fully saturate his monitor at 4k 160hz (at low settings but that's how he was playing at 1080p anyways). In terms of noise, the pc is in a high noise floor environment anyways so it is completely inaudible (I can only imagine how loud the pc is in a more normal noise floor environment).$410.00 -

The main goal of this build was to get a high-performance gaming experience while still being extremely capable of running intense productivity workloads. Since my last build was also extremely loud with 12+ fans in the Antec LanBoy Air case, I set out to build something that would be significantly quieter while gaming and succeeded. This system is also intended to be ultra reliable, requiring only periodic dusting for maintenance, and highly upgradeable over the next few years as needed. This build ended up going a completely different direction from the i9-13900K and Z790 Maximus Hero that I originally purchased, but I have to say that I've been extremely happy with it even though I've always been an Intel fan.$3,607.89 -

Introducing my latest creation, a build that combines power, efficiency, and aesthetics to cater to both my professional and... Introducing my latest creation, a build that combines power, efficiency, and aesthetics to cater to both my professional and personal computing needs. At the heart of this machine is the mighty Ryzen 9 5900X 12-core CPU, coupled with NVIDIA RTX A4000 workstation GPU, 64GB of 3200MHz RAM, all nestled mostly* inside the sleek and compact Fractal Terra Mini case. I built it back in February 2020 with friends, my entire friend group has always been in love with computers and when I finally got the money to build my own everyone helped out. It's decorated with all sorts of random stickers and nick-nacs, D&D/game themed pins and even an old pocket watch on the front. As far as games go you name it, I've got a capture card so I can play ps2 games through OBS. A true assortment of games to say the least, Minecraft, Foundry, Space engineers, Dishonored, Half life (both older half life games and half life alyx on pcvr), Metro games, Phas, Mirror edge... the list goes on for miles. There is not much to say on what I would want different, I will likely upgrade the gpu and cpu in the future but that feels years and years away from now. Regardless of what game I try to throw at it from when I built it to now, the system holds up. All that has changed with it from the day I first turned it on is the addition of another 2x8gb RAM kit, another 2TB HDD and a noctua cooler. Compared to the laptop I had previously this feels like owning a super computer. I went from a 940m laptop gpu and an i7-5500U which at the time of building my pc would idle at 80-100% cpu usage when running anything including a single chrome tab to a computer where I can host a dedicated space engineers server for me and my friends to play on together blows my mind to this day.$1,695.19 -

The motherboard stopped working. Initial intention was to upgrade to AMD 4 which had both good specs and prices. However, AMD 5 was on the horizon and I decided to wait and build to that spec to provide a longer life for the motherboard. I selected AMD as my builds for my wife use Intel and thus I could compare prices, specs, features, etc. The AMD 3 computer was quite efficient and more than sufficient for my foci on writing, from essays to books, and basic graphics. I often had multiple programs open as writing required accessing sources, looking at uses of the sources and my music to work by, ideally running simultaneously. The graphics programs were used for cleaning up old family photos, films and other materials such as newspapers. As I am not professionally into photo and video technology, I use basic software such as that from Cyberlink. The family pictures date to the turn of the 20th century and by the late 1930’s included old Kodak family films. I then sent the processed files to third parties to be placed on DVD’s which were distributed to family. For my AMD 5, all components were purchased locally, all but one M2 at Microcenter as I want to keep such local sources viable. I selected the Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite motherboard, The retail cost was under $300, had the latest chipset and could be bundled with both other hardware and software. I was particularly interested in using M2 storage and the motherboard had three slots for it, one tied directly to the CPU and two PCle 4.0 slots. For memory I purchased a one TB M2 2280 for the CPU slot on which I put Windows 11 and a second partition for downloaded software that I installed in the C: partition. For data files I selected a 2 TB mvme which was a later purchase from Best Buy. The latter was on special sale, almost 50% off. On this device I created three partitions for storing documents, music and pictures/videos. I had planned on using my existing 3 TB HDD but it too had stopped working. I hope to recover the data from it. The slots for the M2 storage are under a heat sink located next to the PCle 16 slot. Thus the M2 devices did not need any heat sinks. The slots are partially under my PowerColor RX 6600 graphics card with 8 GB of memory. I am not a gamer so don’t need the most recent graphics chips but did want a decent card with sufficient memory for a future 32 inch monitor. I purchased a Ryzen 7 7700X CPU that was bundled with 32 GB of GSkill memory. I selected the Noctua UH-14S cooler. The cooler is a large passive heat sink nearly six inches high and three inches wide. It comes with an attached fan but a second fan can be attached to the other side. I installed only one fan. I used existing hardware for the rest of the build. All was installed in my Antec server mid-tower case that has room for the cooler. The case has temperature controlled fans, one on the top back of the case and two on the top of the case. I reused my Antec 1000 watt platinum modular PSU along with my LG internal Blu-ray read/write drive. I have a 27 inch ASUS monitor and connected it via HDMI. After more than a month of using the new build, it runs fast and cool. The CPU cooler fan is almost noiseless and the case fans have not been turned on as the operating temperature is low. Booting takes less than 15 seconds and shutting down is about 5 seconds. The build was under $1,500 including tax. I look forward to increased efficiency and pleasure in my computing.$1,084.94 -

I built it for Blender renders, general gaming at 1440p, and casual work/internet use. It handles titles like Battlefield 2042 and Dead by Daylight with ease. Renders on this rig are incredibly fast compared to my laptop computer with a GTX 1050 (4gb). Complex renders on my laptop would could take several hours. This machine with the 4070Ti cranks out the same projects in mere minutes. It is just mind blowing how quick the frames render. I still plan on making minor changes. For instance, I feel like the cable management could be better. And I hate the look of the Seasonic cables that came standard with the PSU. 32gb is fine for now; however, I might buy another set of 16gb sticks to get this up to 64gb. The 4070TI was expensive and probably overkill but I’m loving the build. Total build cost with deals/sales and MicroCenter combo etc was $1989$2,166.96 -

Went AMD this time - AMD R9 7900X CPU, AMD RX 6950 TX GPU, 64 GB DDR5 6000 Ram, 3 2TB PCI4 4x4 M2 SSD's (OS and APPS, Games, and encoding), ASUS X670-P PRIME WIFI AMD AM5 ATX Motherboard. 2 Additional PCIE USB 3.2 cards (I need LOTS of USB ports for peripherals and the 8 USB3 media storage drives - 125TB total and growing), 750w full modular PS, be quiet SHADOW ROCK TF CPU Cooler, low noise SHADOW ROCK case fans. Stuffed it all in a Silverstone Media PC case. Small compromises were made. Could not fit a liquid cooler so had to go with high efficiency air cooler (be quiet SHADOW ROCK TF) and extra low noise SHADOW ROCK case fans. Originally picked up an RX 7900 TX GPU but it too would not fit the case, so had to fall back to the RX 6950 TX Reference model (2" shorter). Everything fits pretty tight but the Silverstone case is really shitty for cable management, but it all worked out.$1,810.92 -

An upgrade from my 2010 build, this computer is primarily meant to last another 10 years with Photoshop, web browsing, video-watching, and the occasional video game playing on it. I wanted a solid foundation with the latest Intel processor, DDR5 RAM, SSDs for system and primary storage, and 8TB HDDs in RAID 1 for backup of years of art files and the likes. The GPU is fairly underwhelming, all things considered with this build, but GPU isn't my primary concern and it's also about the easiest thing to swap out when I need to upgrade it. Since I'm not doing water-cooling, I went with a well-ventilated case a Noctua CPU air cooler, and added Noctua's budget fans to the front (using the case's included two fans for a rear and top ventilation.) I also am going with a stealth build... everything is all-black (except the Noctua budget fans... which I may swap or paint later), and I've turned off all lighting (except for the power light.) I do have a slight buzzing from the glass panel of the case that I need to remedy at some point though. I also mis-read the mouse packaging and thought it was a wireless-charging mouse. Instead, it's a standard AA battery. The Keyboard is nice, except that the D key illumination LED is already miscolored days after initial use, and it doesn't keep its key-lighting setting after power-cycles (FN+F12)$3,205.68 -

Before this, I was on a 2015 cyberpower prebuilt. I can't tolerate the low graphic setting and lag every time I game no more, so I decided to do this build. After putting this together and ran some games on this, I was completely blew away by the performance! It can pretty much run any games perfectly at high setting! As for future upgrades, I am planning to swap out the air heatsink with deepcool lt720wh all-in-one watercooler, so my CPU can run cooler when I game.$2,444.93 -

I'd say the only thing holding it back is the gpu but for a compact build it's plenty powerful! I would go with a different gpu unless your fine with it being oversized for the case (still max temps are 69 C) I play multiversus, Sons of the Forest, rocket league, Call of Duty warzone 2.0(not much), and Fall guys on this rig now a bit. they all play perfectly except the forest (early access[solid 60ish with stutters]) I would recommend maybe a rx 6700 or 6800 but at least that gives me a upgrade path!$1,671.90 -

It has all the popular components at that time. CPU is Intel 2500k, GPU is MSI 970. The 16G memory was a lot at that time, and it is still sufficient for today. I put a lot of hard disks in during the years. This case FT02 is beautiful and very practical. Best cooling case even nowadays. Sadly it can not contain the huge 4090 I plan to buy. This lovely machine still works perfectly for everyday usage and light work. It will be a backup sever after I build my next machine. It does not worth much now, but it is full of memories.$930.09 -

It's getting very outdated for games currently out in the market. I can barely game at low to mid settings. I had enough, so I decided to upgrade. For this new PC, I decided to try out AMD GPU. I just happen to see RX 7900 XTX on sale, so I got it. I have to say AMD GPU is pretty cost effective. It can handle all games I want without any issue. NVIDIA you better watch out. Anyway. I am very happy with this new build.$2,195.95 -
