I like the Fractal North case because you can just look at it and be pleased after a very expensive purchase decision. I wanted the inside to be blacked out since you can't really see the inside of your case all the time, and the only RGB I really want is the Geforce RTX logo from my graphics card. Decided to be conservative on the specs I go with, albeit the 7800 X3D bundle is too good to pass up. I wanted to save the rest of the money for a very nice (and expensive) QD-OLED monitor, preferably, something like the MSI MPG 321URX, which is sadly still not in stock. Other than that, Noctua fans keep my PC quiet without any annoying frequencies, which is useful since I use open-back headphones. 4 TB main drive should last for a while, and cover all my storage needs.$1,807.35 -

I built this as a secondary PC for my girlfriend to use when I am using my main rig inside the office. I opted for as little RGB as possible since I didn't want it to be too much of a focal point in the living room where it's set up. We rearranged out living room and now have all of our electronics in a minimalist tv stand. As a result, the odd man out was the bulky full tower desktop pc I had been using hooked up to the living room oled tv. But, to view the glass as half full, this rearrangement meant I got to do something I've always wanted to try. Namely, to build a complete pc in the same size as a gaming console. Performance wise, there were no real corners cut because I chose a case that accommodated a relatively large graphics card (EVGA RTX 3070). Temperatures aren't much of a problem because the kinds of games this system plays is pretty casual, such as my kid's current playthrough of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy.$1,096.90 -

I've been wanting to build a new PC for quite some time now, and seeing all the Fractal North builds really pushed me to build one of my own. I set a budget of $1600 for this build and the build was about that much after taxes are included. I went for the white case because most of my furniture is white or wood so it fits in perfectly. This started out as a "minor upgrade" to my gaming machine... ended up as a "build completely new machine and only keep the GPU and data drive". And I only kept the data drive since I replaced it a couple of months ago. Components not listed are the RTX 2080ti GPU, a 500GB NVMe as a boot device and a 2TB NVMe for data. Both Samsungs, but I don't remember the exact models (Evo 980 and 970 something). I've been piecing this build together a bit at a time for the last six months. I mainly kept an eye out for components that would be a significant upgrade over my 11900K / 3070 Ti desktop build. Shoutout to the employees at my local microcenter who take time to hunt down the random clearance items I order. Everything but the AIO cooler and the ssd storage devices were bought at microcenter. Currently on the 13700k, I have all P cores overclocked to 5.8 with all E cores at 4.4 with vcore set to 1.35 and medium LLC. My ddr5 is modestly overclocked from 6000 to 6400 for the time being. I need to re-learn how to overclock ram because a lot of bios settings have become more complex since ddr3-ddr4 days. From what I understand, Hynix A die modules should be able to overclock significantly higher frequencies - I just need to learn how to pull that off.$1,624.25 -

I basically just wanted to take a crack and building another desktop and, during the process, by doing a few things I haven't done before. One of these new things was building on an AM5 socket. I mainly held off this long from trying AM5 due to initially high DDR5 prices, but those have thankfully already fallen a long way. Another thing I really wanted to try is the new North chassis by my favorite case manufacturer, Fractal Design. I'm pretty brand-loyal to Fractal ever since the Meshify came out several years ago. Anyway the North case does a really nice thing in two different ways. One, it matches the wooden furniture I have elsewhere in my living room. And two, the North case is ventilated is so many different ways, it really opens up near-limitless possibilities for fan customization and airflow optimization.$2,656.92 -

If i remember this right, it's been over 13 years since I've built my first (and only) desktop PC, so I came into this one a little bit rusty and barely any experience. Since then, I mostly just used consoles for gaming, considering that first PC was VERY low end, but i finally got the courage to step into the "master race" once again. After a lot of catching up and a bunch of youtube videos, yet another Fractal North build was born... All jokes aside, I don't remember having as much fun doing something in the last few years, as I had building this thing from the ground up! My last build was 7 years old and not compatible with the latest versions of Windows (not that I *really* wanted to make the switch). I built this over the course of 5 months finding parts on sale. Performance-wise, this handles 4K 120Hz on everything I've thrown at it. Only times I scale back quality in games is if the GPU kicks up its coil whine a bit too much. Really stable FPS and benchmarking. Solid machine that should last years at High-Ultra in games. Mixed with 24GB VRAM being a productivity monster. Happy with the end result but I would have done a few things differently. An i7-14700K would have been a nice upgrade, but unnecessary for my use case. A bigger change would be opting for 2x32GB of RAM and/or slightly higher-spec'ed RAM (like 6000 CL30 or 6400 CL32). Aesthetically, I'm really happy with how the silver CPU cooler and tan Noctua fans look through the mesh side panel. If everything was black, you wouldn't notice any components inside and the silver+tan give it a subtle "pop" of character. But, if you're more into RGB than I am than going black on all components will be a nicer look and let your RGB shine.$2,929.90 -

I had it for about 4 years, and did the best I could to upgrade it. After years of suffering through ungodly slow daily use, I finally became old enough to get a job. I worked all summer long and saved enough money that I could buy the computer and only spend half of the money I had saved. I decided that I would go all out, in the hopes that this build would last me a long time. I went with, at the time, all the latest and greatest parts that I could buy, without spending so much that I am approaching the point of diminishing returns. And so the Space Heater was born, it keeps me warm during winters and makes me sweat during the summer. Gaming aside, the quality of life of being able to restart your computer in under a minute, not have to wait for 45 minutes to render a single frame in blender, and to just play any game I want without having to think about whether or not I can run it has been absolutely life changing.$1,730.94 -

With online tutorials, I managed to light it up for the first time. I built it during the COVID pandemic, making it challenging to find a graphics card. I settled for a 3700G just to get the PC running. Luckily, I snagged a 3070 Ti FE from Best Buy after lining up all night. I finally completed my rig, and so far, everything is working perfectly for all the games I've played :)$1,139.92 -

For my second ever time building a PC, I really wanted to make a small-form factor computer so that I will be able to easily move the PC around. My first PC was in a giant mid-tower LIAN LI case and when I was moving between countries, it was impossible to keep that PC without tearing it down. As such, I've turned to an ITX case with the Fractal Terra (Jade colour) and though it was personally challenging to build in such a small space (especially the cable management...), I really love it!! My main use for now is gaming (but eventually will turn into PC for writing essays instead..)$1,542.92 -

Works exactly as I'd hoped, reaching about 120fps average @ 1440p max settings with Baldurs Gate 3, 144+ on Red Dead 2. Has a bit of GPU sag, just put a small gum pot underneath to fix it. Not much trouble putting it together, although the front panel USB 3 cable had some trouble getting into the port on the motherboard due to the geometry of the case - managed to get it in with a little force though. 6950XT does just about fit in this case, the 1mm clearance had me worried but it ended up being closer to 1cm with the stock fans$1,552.58 -

Replaced my Dell Latitude E7470 that got at most about 12fps playing GTA Online and Divinity 2. It was not too difficult at all, despite being a small form factor. I do not expect to upgrade it or rebuild for many years to come, except maybe to add custom cabling. (but the stock power cables are working fine)$1,151.89 -
