They need something that will meet minimum standards to play their basic games, do homework, and other general PC-based activities. This was the plan going into this project. It isn't top of the line by ANY standard, but it can be considered a gaming rig. It was built for a 10 year old, so the standards didn't have to be high, but it DID need to meet certain minimum requirements with processing speed, RAM, and graphics capabilities.$447.94 -

I built this because I wanted to build the smallest form factor desktop that was reasonably possible relative to my performance goals. Once I decided to use an AMD processor with Raedon graphics built in, there was nothing holding me back from making it as compact as possible. I know that the random application of sloppy electrical tape looks bad with the panel removed. But the goal was to black out light-colored components from showing through the mesh and it does indeed look better when the case is closed up.$440.95 -

The point of this PC was to be a huge focus on value, not spending any money on anything unnecessary but still looking clean and with some RGB. Performance is great at 1080p and even 1440p as the RTX 3060 is still a great card for most games. The white Powerspec power supply with white cable sleeves really completes this PC as only the GPU and motherboard stand out as not matching the colour scheme.$675.93 -

So this whole project was kicked off by me personally stumbling upon and then purchasing an amazing clearance deal on a 6900xt 16gb graphics card at microcenter. The domino effect of this acquisition is that my previously card, a still-perfectly-good AMD 6700 XT 12gb card, was freed up and needed a home. My brother's kids are just now starting to move beyond casual console games and are interested in pc gaming. So this is essentially a budget-friendly build centered around my formerly-used 6700xt graphics card that my neice and nephews will get good use out of.$594.94 -

I'm calling this a postapocalyptic build simply because it is a desktop that survived the catastrophic failure of a power supply. Initially this build was done using a few older components along with inexpensive modern parts sourced from my local microcenter. Specifically, this was built with an aging power supply and graphics card. After some testing, I realized the the system had a catastrophic partially because it was being left on carpet. The inside of the chassis looked like the aftermath of a dust explosion. Ultimately I had to clean, rebuild, and replace the power supply and motherboard with brand new units. Thankfully the cpu and graphics card weren't damaged during the apocalypse.$339.94 -
