As a kid, I always wanted to have a gaming pc of my own, where I could crush any game I wanted and push the limits of performance. My build started in 2017, and I saved every penny I could find to afford it. It's carried me throughout the years to today, with some upgrades of course. Originally, the build consisted of an Intel Core i5-7600K, MSI Z270 Gaming M7, ASUS GTX 1070 STRIX OC, Samsung 850 PRO, and a Seagate Barracuda 2TB. I play indie games like Lethal Company and Undertale, and big games like Battlefield 2042, Mortal Kombat 1, Five Nights at Freddy's, and VRChat. Throughout the time I spent building my pc, I wish I had purchased the parts at once instead of incrementally buying a part when it was possible. I could've gotten newer hardware had I done the former. In the future, I definitely would like to get a 2TB NVME SSD to replace my Seagate hard drive, and upgrade to 32GB of DDR4 ram. I also foresee a switch to the AMD Ryzen 7000 processor line.$2,646.49 -

It's paired with an RTX 4080 GPU for the ability to handle 4K graphics. My original plan was to get an RTX 4090, but its performance gain per dollar is not as great compared to an RTX 4080. It was the right choice. This build is enough to run all modern games in 4K while maintaining a respectable 120 FPS+.$2,859.94 -

I don't do much gaming anymore, but my old build was 2015, and I literally could not play some of the more recent games even if I wanted to. The old build was still fine for most day-to-day stuff and I wanted another build that would go the distance. So here we are. My first build was 1998, and PC components have come a long way. I wanted something that could run Cyberpunk at 2k on max settings and still get over 60 FPS. I wanted something that I could hook up a top tier VR headset to without worries. The Lian Li components are super good, but they don't have great software support. Mostly, I would say that they are first rate components with second rate software running them. It often resets, and I can't update because of their file servers (or lack thereof). The Lian Li case is superb. The strimmer lighting looks great and is customizable. The CPU cooler is where the RGB software could be better. Even with the great cable management, the back of that case is STUFFED with cables, Lian Li USB controllers, internal USB hub. The fact that I put a RAID 10 SSD array in there didn't help with space. It seems like no mater what improvements are made with cable management, I'll find a way to fill it with cables! I was going with an ASUS 4080, but it was out of stock when I went to the store, so I settled for the Zotac. It's fine, but the RGB is about 3 years behind the RDG in the rest of the box. Even though it was 1200 bucks, I won't hesitate to return it if the 4080 super comes out in time. I may replace it with a 5000 series in a couple of years. My background is scientific computing, and this PC is about on par with the number of threads and memory that was in $20K servers I was using in 2010. I really like that it's super quiet, even with 6 fans. When its running full blast, its makes half the noise that my 2015 does. I'll probably try DnD next...but then will go back to checking my email! This PC specs out in the top 1% in Passmark. But 1% is a huge number of builds. Maybe next time I go ThreadRipper and Nivida XX90!$3,655.81 -

It's mainly built for gaming but light workloads too as I do work from home sometimes. My GF does art and makes stickers and plan on adding a lot of these as the time comes (also have ideas in mind for a distro block and custom loops). This is built with the Gamdias Neso P1 case, I wanted something that was a bit different as this does flip to its side for what is basically the coolest toaster oven ever. As far as games, I play a lot of OW, Halo, Sea of Thieves, and many of the great single player games that are out there (Cyberpunk, FFXV, Starfield ect). Not entirely done but the system is up and running, and it's FAST! RTX GIGABYTE 4080 Eagle with the Ryzen 7700x make for an excellent pair, combined with PBO and modest OC on the GPU, it has toppled everything I've thrown at it. Case is great, plenty of space for even the largest card and tooless entry makes it a breeze to build in. Excited to see where this all takes me!$2,384.94 -

I needed something that would take nearly anything I threw at it and not miss a beat. I like to multitask while editing photos and usually have a few different programs open at once for my workflow and really need a system that would be able to handle this and render the changes made while editing, same thing for when I'm working on editing videos. When I'm not working, I do enjoy some pretty heavy gaming. 4k was not a huge worry to me, as I would have to update my monitors, but also wanted a rig that would run the AAA titles at 2k and provide a great experience. I have also recently gotten into Sim Racing and wanted a system that I could move into VR with if I wanted to. This build checked all of the boxes for me and I am very happy with the results. I have not found anything that I would have done different at this point. The build has blown me away and I am very happy with it!$2,421.35 -

I primarily wanted my desktop to take up as small a space as possible and found building out of the NR200 case to be very satisfying. 7900 XT plays anything thrown at it - blew through Starfield at max settings. Highly recommend undervolting the GPU to save thermals. A less power hungry CPU would be even better to reduce heat. As much as I like the SFX-L Asus Loki PSU I chose, I recommend an SFX to gain GPU clearance. Highly advise against an ATX PSU as airflow becomes very difficult to manage. I would also recommend a shorter cooler than the Noctua NH-D15 as I had to force the mesh side panel closed.$2,345.89 -

I will describe my thought process with some of the components and if you have any questions I’d be happy to share my experience. CPU - I chose the Ryzen 5 7600x because my main activity was gaming and I got a great deal on it at $199. I game mostly at 1440p and 4k so it handles everything I throw at it extremely well. Generally when gaming I don’t see temps over 75 C. On cinebench, my score is around 15k. Starfield seems to run a little hotter than other games (even Cyberpunk) CPU Cooler - Thermalright Peerless assassin RGB - seems to work pretty well overall. Make sure it fits in your case, it’s pretty big. RGB lights sync well with all the other lights in the case. Installation was pretty simple overall. GPU - I originally had the rx 6800 but was a little underwhelmed with the performance. Specifically on Elden Ring, my PS5 seemed to play it better. I decided to sell that and upgrade to the 7900 XT and wow, this GPU is awesome. I’m playing Cyberpunk on Ultra settings with no RT and I’m getting around 120 fps on average in 1440p. My TimeSpy score is around 25,000. The only drawback is RayTracing, but personally I don’t really notice a huge difference except the drop in FPS… so RT is not really important to me. I also love the 20 GB of VRAM and feel like that’s going to future proof the build well. Case - H5 Flow - This case was really easy to build in for a first time builder. I really like the GPU fan at the bottom of the case. My GPU always stays pretty cool compared to my CPU. Also the RGB fans are really nice looking. Motherboard - B650 tomahawk - I liked this MB mainly because it had a pre installed IO shield. I also think that the MSI bios is pretty easy to navigate and tweak settings. I made sure to update the BIOS as soon as everything posted. PSU - Corsair 1000w - Works very well. Plenty of headroom for future upgrades.$1,842.46 -

I wanted a compact desktop PC for video editing and gaming, so I ended up with this mini itx build. Although it's compact, it packs a punch! It's extremely fast rendering my video project compared to my old pc. It's great for gaming as well. I tried APEX and Fortnite on the highest setting with this build, and the graphic is very smooth.$2,309.95 -

It's my first gaming PC build. It took several months for me to research and buy parts, but with help from PC gaming forum and youtube, I have finally done it! I wanted this build for gaming, so I got a rtx4080 GPU, which took out a huge chunk from my budget. Luckily, this specific GPU model was happen to be on sale when I brought it, saving me around $100. I am very impressed by this build so far. Just need more time to test it and tweak it out.$2,313.95 -

Wanted to play Diablo 4 and try a smaller form factor after 10 years of a Full Tower. A little rusty at building a PC but MicroCenter associates helped me at the Tustin Location for what I was going for. Hoping this will last me another 10 years with some upgrades in between!$1,857.93 -

I'm a graphic designer and have used laptops exclusively in the past. I finally decided now was the time to build a desktop PC, which I could use for some freelance work as well as gaming (let's be real... mostly gaming). I knew if I was going to build a PC I wanted it to be a clean build, I love seeing systems with great cable management and components that are all matching colors, so that was a priority for me. I'm a pretty big Star Wars nerd, so I decided to go with a Stormtrooper-themed build (black and white). I do plan to add some custom vinyl decals to enhance the Stormtrooper theme even more, but I'm very pleased with how the build turned out and I am looking forward to seeing how it performs in some games! Speaking of games, my preferred genre is open-world adventure games, such as GTA, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, etc. So it's probably no surprise that I'm super excited for Star Wars Outlaws as well as Starfield. On occasion, I want a more relaxing gaming experience, and in those cases, I typically turn to puzzle games. I enjoy playing heavy story games that require puzzles to be solved in order to move forward. 'Portal 2' is a game I've replayed over and over, more recently I fell in love with 'Stray' and look forward to playing it again (except now on a fancy PC with amazing graphics) and I've also found the game 'Humanity' to be very entertaining, and sometimes frustrating too :) I think the one thing I'm looking forward to more than everything else is the PC gamer community. I've already met so many cool, nerdy, super nice people throughout the process of choosing parts and building my PC and it's really been fun to meet people who all have a common interest in everything computers. Because I live in Indianapolis, I have to shout out the new Microcenter that just opened. I was SO pumped to have a Microcenter close to me and it was the push I needed to dive into this amazing community!$1,957.93 -

Replaced my 3070 build with this and my main goal was to finally break into the 4k gaming scene. Also, I'm at the point in my life where I'm done with "RBG" and "GAMING" looking computers, so my secondary goal was to make a PC that blends in to its surroundings, rather than stick out. The terra seemed like a great build environment to accomplish these two things.$2,518.93 -
