It was a i7-th gen MSI dual fan 1060ti, which was later upgraded to 2070 super. It was a prebuilt custom pc from cyberpower and over The years i've had so many issues with the p c sometimes. The case was terrible it caused a lot of overheating and my p c would crash often when I ran even medium load work like turning on rocket league. I figured it was time to build a new p c and this time I wanted to make sure I future proof it without worrying about cost. Because the last p c I bought I built a little conservative because I was still in college and so I didn't want to spend too much money. It was actually a long Time dream of mine to build a new PC. But this time get a case that actually looks cool and I've looked at a lot of open concept cases as well as a panoramic glass cases. I want exposure to the internal components. And also wanted some internal rgb in my build, not too much rgb. I play a lot of AAA games, also FPS shooters, etc. Some of the games i play are valorant, rocket league, cod, halo, overwatch 2, battlefield, csgo, etc. Also a lot of single player games like tomb raider, horizon, last of us, etc. Every game I played told now I have played using logo settings just so my p c would not crash. I wanted a build where i would have to worry about that and be able to play on hight/max settings so i can appreciate the details and art of the games. I've thought about getting into streaming and no right now. I'm thinking about getting into dollarant streaming and/ content creation. I am a huge fan of Keeoh and his videos. Even if I don't get a lot of viewers? I still wouldn't like to be able to stream just doing for the fun. I got all of the streamer components no, just built a very high end p c capable of high quality gameplay End multitask for streaming, Also got some nice streaming cameras a hyperex quadcast s mic. Not sure when I'm actually going to start streaming but hopefully. It's sometimes in your future once I settle in to my new apartment. At the moment instead of streaming I have a youtube channel where I post clips of really funny or good gameplay for f p s games. I'm going to continue doing that till I am able to stream

Mini NAS with Proxmox This build was an attempt at a: Minimal Physical Space Power Efficiency Performance Cost I used the onboard NIC with a managed switch and "Tagged" VLAN IDs into a couple of subnets where different VMs reside. I'm running 4 instances of Ubuntu Server for security camera recordings, general file storage, backups (UrBackups) and DNS sink hole (AdGuard Home). None of these require much in regards of compute resources (memory/cpu). For this reason, the 8500G seems like a nice fit to balance performance, price and efficiency. Nothing special was configured with Proxmox and I have not explored any passthrough features yet with exception of passing a few mechanical drives to the security camera VM. At idle with (2) 7200 rpm 3.5" drives the power draw is ~42 watts. Without the mech drives it rest at 35 idle. In operation...it still generally rest in the low 45's with small bumps when the cache write to the mech drives spawns an actual write (all measured with a Kilo-A-Watt meter). If you want a small business/home server, with the option to host larger VMs that isn't terribly expensive or power hungry, this isn't a bad setup. You can certainly host my current 24/7 VMs on a much less capable system with no perceivable performance difference, but everything is a case of what-ifs, present circumstances and just having fun playing with new stuff. Power wise with x86 desktop systems, ATX boards, standard PSU's...this one runs about as light as any of them at idle. There are mini PC's that use a lot less power, but then you are generally using USB mass storage and lack a PCIe slot for expansion, which in my case, this was not acceptable. I am actually replacing a NUC that was currently using an external 8TB USB 3.0 drive and this ended up being a not so great solution for 24/7 camera recordings, it works but barely when dealing with 8+ 4k cameras and also needing to do remote playback. I hope this helps for those looking for information as a mini server. So far, no issues.

I was overdue for a graphics card upgrade (had previously been using an nvidia gtx 1060 6gb card). Actually, make that overdue for an everything upgrade. I finally decided that the time was now because the 4070 super at around $600 according to the reviews delivers exactly the kind of 1440p resolution gaming performance that I have been looking for. I mainly play looter shooter games like the Borderlands series and the other borderlands spinoffs.

This was my first DIY build, and I went for a relatively middle of the road spec that's fairly well rounded and not optimized for any particular thing. CPU, RAM, and mobo were from a Micro Center bundle, while the other components were sourced wherever there were deals to be had. The only thing that is missing is a GPU, although the iGPU inside the 7700X has been sufficient in the meantime. The CPU undervolts easily, which allows it to draw only 65W compared to 144W previously and never getting hotter than 70C while only losing 10% performance. Meanwhile the iGPU overclocks pretty well, and was easily stable with a 500Mhz boost. The RAM ran on EXPO settings without any issues. I had originally planned for a 7900XTX and specced an 850W PSU, but my current plan now is to go with a lower end 7800XT or 4070 which has made the 850W a little overkill. In addition to a GPU, cooling will be upgraded with three more case fans, although for the current heat load the two fans are more than enough. The hard drive cage was removed to increase airflow for the expected 7900XTX, so the build uses SSDs only. Even with the change in plans, I'm not going to put the cage back in because it would involve unplugging and replugging the PSU, which is a bit of a pain to do. The room tends to be pretty dusty, and I have added a secondary filter to the front intake along with the built in filter from the case. One downside with this build is that the mobo's PCIe slot is one down, so it utilizes the second slot. However, the case only has room for four slots total, and therefore it limits the GPU to sub triple slot widths only. Coupled with the relatively short spacing available for length (306mm with front fan, 313mm with slim fan, 331mm without), it makes finding a suitably fitting GPU somewhat difficult with how big they have gotten. The front panel cable is also just long enough, but it's under a bit of tension so another inch would have helped greatly.

PURPOSE >> This computer was built for mainly general purpose use (i.e., emails, online meetings, presentations, Youtube, etc.) along with amateur graphic design + 3D modeling (i.e., Photoshop and eventually Blender with future plans to use with 3D printer) and light 1440p gaming (looking to get into Diablo 4 given Diablo2 nostalgia, NFS Unbound, maybe Starfield since it was included with CPU purchase, LoL, etc.) FORM & FUNCTION >> Foundational image of the build I had in mind was the mATX platform, making sure I wanted to avoid a full-tower and full-sized ATX motherboard (what was used in my last PC built back in 2007). I purchased the Antec NX200M case purely due to its design. From there, given the timely release of the most recent Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, I went with the energy-efficient yet still powerful Ryzen 7 7700 and associated ASRock B650M motherboard (which is mainly black with white accents). Given the relatively lower TDP, I went with a smaller dual-tower CPU cooler and purchased in white to accompany the motherboard accents and provide some contrast to the black internals of the case. From there, I made plans to eventually purchase a 7800XT GPU when released, and identified the ASRock Challenger as a perfect design fit for my system (to be purchased in the near future). An adequate PSU was purchased to accompany the 7800XT and overall power needs. RAM and storage were purchased with best affordable function in mind. After some consideration, I then built my own front cover to replace the Antec OEM plastic facade. Design mimics the Fractal North but utilizes my own desired wood stain/tone. TIMELINE//FUTURE PLANS >> Parts for this build were purchased over a period of 6-8 months, and this setup is still a work in progress, with future plans to purchase an AMD Radeon 7800XT and an extra 2TB NVME SSD. COMPREHENSIVE PARTS LIST >> --- Case: Antec NX200 M, Micro-ATX Tower --- Motherboard: ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi --- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700 8C/16T --- CPU Cooler: Thermalright Silver Soul 110 --- Memory: Team T-Force Vulcan 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 5600, CL 32 --- Storage: Solidigm P44 Pro, 1TB PCIe gen4 NVMe (Future: Samsung 980 Pro 2TB gen4 NVMe) --- GPU: CPU's integrated graphics for now (Future: AMD Radeon 7800XT, likely ASRock Challenger model) --- PSU: CORSAIR RM850e Fully Modular --- Fans: Iceberg Thermal IceGALE aRGB 140mm PWM x2 (Front intake) + ID-COOLING NO-12015-XT-ARGB slim PWM x1 (Rear exhaust) + Thermalright TL-C12015 slim PWM x1 (Rear/top exhaust) --- Front cover: Custom-made using Poplar, design inspired by Fractal North

We researched parts for 2 months and built everything over Memorial day weekend. We took advantage of Microcenter's great prices (and price matching) for half of the items. The goal is that this will be a computer that will last him through high school. He's interested in gaming and programming. We made sure that there are options for him to expand in the future (dedicated GPU, more memory, etc). It was a great experience to learn how all the parts of a computer come together!
