Once I outgrew it and upgraded parts, my wife (girlfriend at the time) wanted a desktop to type her college papers on, and do light gaming, such as The Sims 3. She got my GTX 1060 when I upgraded that, a new SSD, and a new PSU, but everything else is my original parts! I do not remember what I paid for any of these items, as I bought them at local gaming stores and not an online retailer$264.96 -

I started off with a console and found myself hitting a cap on my gaming skills and decided it was time for an upgrade. I worked a bit harder and pooled some money together after watching countless youtubers build budget systems using Dell Optiplex's but upon agreeing to my dad to check out the micro center, I was shocked! I quickly sold my xbox and a few of my old games and shoes and headed down to micro center and found the best motherboard cpu deals! If I win, I will use the money to purchase the all new RTX 3070 which has a starting price of exactly 499$ and will be a huge step up from my GTX 1650 Super!$546.44 -

The server is running a desktop version of ubuntu and I use docker to run all the applications I need for development or just to run my media on. I originally wanted to make a build with old commercial server hardware. However finding compatible parts on ebay is pretty difficult. I ended up using an AMD 1700x that I got for an incredible price at Microcenter.$578.82 -

The name isn't really relevant... was just in my mind as I was building haha This is a simple build for entry-level gaming. I might hand it down to my brother or cousin. Goal is to play racing titles or FPS at 1080p in medium-high frame rates. I really like how clean it is, especially in the back which is normally the most messy part of a build. I'm hoping this build still has plenty of years of life left.$628.98
