I wanted to go for something that was modestly priced, that would be able to handle any current game that you throw at it as well as perform efficiently when using CAD software and Game dev engines. My last build was a couple years back and was a very cheap $300 build that was fine for the first two years but then couldn't run your more demanding games and so I wanted to future proof my build for the next 5 years$1,033.93 -

I have had a prebuilt for 5 years and with the new Hogwarts Legacy game coming out I knew I needed a new one. I upgraded from a gtx 1060 and intel i5 8400 to a rx 6700xt and a ryzen 5 5600x. I can run new high demanding games with max settings on 60fps like Doom Eternal, High on life, Fortnite, and many others. Although I normally like to play most games on performance mode to max out my fps, sometimes its nice to see some cool graphics. One thing I would have done differently was to wait a little longer and get a rtx 3070. Nvidia gpus are in favor for most games and kind of regret buying an AMD gpu in some situations.$1,125.89 -

I wanted to build a great 1440p gaming build but didn't want to break the bank by getting a 3070 and both AMD CPUs and GPUs have really good deals right now. I have a 5600X and a 6700 XT. This build lets me play Modern Warfare II at over 120FPS with high settings with FidelityFX CAS at 80%. Using FSR would increase it. I also get 90-100 FPS on Fortnite with high graphics and Lumen/Nianite set to the first option.$1,125.92 -

After years of looking at people posting their builds on Reddit and here I finally decided to attempt a build myself. At the time I built this Microcenter was having a sale (bundle on CPU, MOBO, and RAM) so thought why not. My budget was 1500 and the bundle helped me save about 300. I mostly play MMORPGs, so that's what this build is used for (Archeage, D4, etc). I was planning to build this closer to the release of Ashes of Creation but that deal kinda sealed it for me.$1,482.90 -

I just started graduate school and I realized it'd be very nice to have a dedicated machine for schoolwork. I'm studying Computer Science at the master's level with a focus on machine learning, so I wanted access to a GPU, which my laptop doesn't have. I had an RX 6700XT lying around so I built a machine around that. In the future I might try and swap it out for an Nvidia card since I'd like to learn CUDA for the purposes of my career, but for obvious reasons I didn't even bother trying to buy one right now... maybe I'll nab one up with the GPU crash that's coming any day now... right? :-) In hindsight I'd probably chose a different motherboard. I discovered while building the computer that the X570 doesn't have a USB 3.2 header. The motherboard I originally planned on getting was unfortunately out of stock so I grabbed this one without properly checking for compatibility.$1,707.92 -

The culmination of a couple years of researching, budgeting and selling stuff. I finally was able to fully upgrade the PC that i bought second hand a while back. I bought most of the parts from microcenter and went there every other week just to understand more and more about building a computer. The PC people were super helpful and helped me understand what i really needed for my uses. The rest of the parts were from GameStop because i had credit from a mistake they made 300$ purchase lol. In terms of my uses for it, I use it to stream, game and to do graphic design. I do a lot of photoshop and love to make photshop animations so having 32Gbs of ram is such a huge difference compared to 16Gbs which use to make my computer crash when i made a photshop file with more than 100 frames. In terms of games i play Apex, Destiny 2, Genshin Impact, Valorant, Fortnite and lots of other narrative graphically intense games such as AC valhalla or Horizon Zero Dawn. There is not much i can say about streaming because I just started doing it and i dont feel like ive gotten to a point where im taking it to the limits, but it does exactly what its supposed to do and doesnt impact my gameplay at all. I am also able to use Cloud stream flawlessly Xbox series X in case i want to use my Apex account with all my cosmetics on Xbox when i stream. Smartkinggg on twitch btw. All and all i am really happy with the build and proud of myself for putting it together all on my own with very few hickups. Theres nothing in hindsight that i might have done different other than maybe be a bit more patient and buy everything at once. Also i dont have good places to take a picture of the build from a far so i thought i would focus on the internals and different stages of me building it. Purple is my favorite color in case you couldnt tell lol.$1,736.66 -

On weekends it’s for gaming and watching YouTube and on weekdays it’s for homework and if I have time (which I won’t) it’s for the same stuff as weekends. I will probably get a better monitor, a few more fans and more storage like a fast m.2 but it’s a great pc and it doesn’t need to be upgraded in several years.$1,846.92 -

The goal is to have it last two years for 1080, then 1440 gaming. So a mid tier CPU and GPU will make that happen.$2,344.82
