I built this because I wanted a good match for a Asus 27" monitor that I love. It's only 1080p but goes up to 144hz refresh rate. The game I'm primarily still playing Overwatch (2, even though 1 was better). I also realized that it was a good time to buy because the prices of the SSD storage and DDR4 ram were much lower than when I looked at them 6-9 months ago. I first tried using the Intel cooler that came in the box with the 13400 cpu. Ultimately, this cooler was too loud (at startup especially) so I scrapped it and put a larger air cooler that is marketed as extremely quiet. Now I think the loudest fans in the system are the two fans on my video card. And that's okay because those only run during gaming sessions.$927.93 -

This PC was built as a specific stand-alone platform for encoding high definition videos and interfacing with a large storage pool NAS. Many of the encoded videos specifically use the Intel Quick Sync feature of the Core i7-13700K CPU. Raw video footage is pulled directly from the NAS, encoded, and re-uploaded (hence the 1TB WD Black SN770 NVME SSD being the only local storage needed). I chose the i7-13700K over the i9 models as the Quick Sync capabilities are identical. Sometimes CPU encoding is done for specific reasons. I find the 13700K adequate for that as well (although the power consumption is notably higher, the AIO keeps things silent). The power supply is quite large and also contributes to near silent operation. Overall, an excellent machine that should provide many years of service!$1,027.90 -

This is the final hardware refresh / rebuild that I plan to ever do for the AM4 socket. Which is somewhat of a sad thing to say because it's been a great run for AMD. The best value gaming cpu has been recently released, the 5600x3D. So with that last piece inhand it was time to do enter the final state. The 5600x3D is currently more than adequate for my RTX 3060 12gb card, so the card itself might be the next thing I end up replacing. Getting very solid performance in games like The Outer Worlds. Had upgraded to newer components but had the older components and wanted to make use of it. Ended up taking the MB, CPU, GPU and then getting a NR200P Max (which comes with Case, PSU, and AIO CPU Cooler) and repurposed the old components to make a mini ITX gaming PC and will be used to connect to my living room TV which has outdated and really slow 'smart tv' functions. I know, I know, but I wanted something immediately. Spent several hundred dollars on it, and I had issue after issue, because I wanted to play games it couldn't handle. It was on a Lenovo Shark Bay motherboard (NOW you know what I was living with, right?) and one day, while installing a corsair PSU, I damaged an adapter. Went to Micro Center to replace it (amazon had it for like $6), but they didn't carry it. So, I spent $475 on a new motherboard, CPU, and some RAM. Packed it all into the old case with the old GPU. But, now that I had some good hardware, the GPU was holding it all back. Decided the 1050 ti wasn't cutting it for me anymore. Went and bought a new GPU from Micro Center. So, the build. You'll notice I didn't name any of the new parts yet. That's intentional. Also, disclaimer, several pieces in this build did not come from Micro Center, and instead came from Amazon. So...can you build a GOOD gaming PC for less than $1500, right now??? YES!$1,160.92 -
