The old computer that I used mainly for gaming decided to break on me so in order to get replacement parts I would've had to wait 2 weeks for Amazon to restock. I checked the Microcenter website and realized they had everything in stock and even had some better prices. The nearest Microcenter to me was four hours away at the Marietta location in Atlanta (btw we need a Microcenter in Nashville, thanks). I figured a day trip was better than having to wait on Amazon. Since my old pc was lacking a little anyway I decided to get a big upgrade, Ryzen 3700x with an RTX 2070 Super, by far the most I've spent on a PC upgrade. I decided to go all out and try for some nice RGB, in hindsight I wish I mounted the RGB fans at the top instead of the front as I didn't realize the Lian Li LanCool 2 already had RGB on the front. This case was a dream to build in by the way and made cable management very easy. While my adventure to the great Mecca that is Microcenter was long, it was indeed worth every hour on the road. Huge shoutout to my dad for dropping everything to go with me, made for a fun trip.$1,317.93 -

Gaming/Streaming Rig - I built this so that I could have a nice gaming desktop for the first time. I am upgrading from a Toshiba Laptop that had a 770M. I was playing all games on the lowest settings and that was barely cutting it and it would still overheat. I am hoping to be able to play more games and high settings and stream casually as well. I play World of Tanks, Magic: the Gathering Arena, Smite, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Overwatch, Civ, and others. Future upgrades would likely be a better CPU cooler and maybe an additional chassis fan. I could also go full RGB but I am unsure if I want to do that. All in all, it is not super fancy like some of the others I've seen, but it is everything that I needed in a PC, allows me to upgrade easily later, and was my first ever PC build. Due to that, it'll always have a special place in my heart, even if it does not have the highest specs or all of the bells and whistles in appearance!$1,383.94 -

I'm not a big fan of RGB and because I can never do thing the easy way, I decided to do a custom case mod. So I built a Honduran mohogany desk that also acts as the case for the pc. Honduran Mahogany is the most stable wood you can use for furniture from an expansion and stability standpoint. Currently as it stands now, I haven’t oiled it yet, which will come when soon. It’s only version one and because I’m obsessive, I’m going to likely be working on another very soon to make it even better. I’ve got through 4 desks in the past 2 years and after the first 3 just decided I had to do it myself. I also host an Apache web server on Ubuntu server on a separate machine, so v2 of this desk will a dual or triple motherboard configuration, much cleaner, and water cooled so I can allow for much lower clearance configurations. It took me many many hours of work and many late nights because my shop is 2 hours away so I have to maximize the time I spend there! I’m a professional consultant for big home projects during my day job, and it was nice to take some of that energy and put it into my own home project, which is something I don’t always get the chance to do. And truthfully, I've never ever built one completely from scratch. I've tinkered and upgraded, but never a full on build. I built this computer to play RTX games like Control, other third person action games, FPS games of all kinds, and those "walking simulators" like Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch. I LOVE a great game story. I mostly play PC games like Destiny 2 and Deliver us the Moon... as well as fun VR games like Half-Life: Alyx & Beat Saber. I also love to stream with my family with games like Davigo VR, Fall Guys, Minecraft, Overwatch, Fortnite, Splitgate, Among Us, and others! Our Twitch channel is BurtonFamGaming. This rig is a gaming, VR, streaming PC... mostly for me (Dad), but also for the whole family (only... with Dad's permission of course. Only I have the password) :-D If I could go back, I might have waited a few months so I could purchase a 3080... but oh well. :-) I researched this for most of quarantine before finally building it about 4 weeks ago... so frankly, there's not much I would change about how I built it. The ONLY thing I wish I had done was perhaps get an X570 board or the ROG Strix B550-E so I'd get that Gen 2 Type C front header. I also plan to upgrade to 32 gigs of ram before long... but besides that, I'm really happy with it!$1,494.91 -

I sold my last system (Mad Hatter) the week the Ryzen 3000 series came out. But I didn't have a case to put the new cpu and mobo into. So I made my own makeshift 'test bench-esque' case with random things I happened to have. A few months later, a buddy of mine was finishing up some home projects and I asked him to make me a T frame with any left over wood he had. Fast forward 9 months later, and I finally got the chance to start this project. CPU/MOBO/RAM - Purchased from Microcenter 7/7/19. SSD/HDD - My previous configuration had too many drives. So I got the NVME ssd for the essentials and two 2tb hdds, one for games the other for recordings. GPU - A reason to give my old GTX 1080 to my g/f. CPU Cooler - I knew I wanted to go back to air with this build. I didn't realize this cooler was... this big. CASE - Extra wood a buddy had left over after making a shelf. Extras - Acrylics and Acrylic bender from Performance-PCS. I originally planned this to also have a handle. I purchased the MNPC Tech cnc handles. But as I was building, I realized how heavy this would be. So I'll save those for the next/smaller build. **June Update** Replaced the acrylic panel below the gpu with a wider version. The gpu now looks sad at night. I have plans to vertical mount the GPU, upgrade my RAM to 32GB @ 3600Mhz, add custom PSU cables, and upgrade my 240mm AIO to a 280MM AIO. So far, the main use of this machine is folding@home, relatively light gaming (if you can call NFS Heat on Ultra details @ 1080P light....) and media consumption.$1,609.94 -

I built this gaming computer to switch over from console gaming to PC gaming with the focus in high frame rates. I have had a passion for computer building for a few years now thanks to Youtubers like Jayztwocents, Bitwit, Paul's Hardware, Linus Sebastian from LTT. With this build I focused on price per performance at the start and over a year switched out parts and upgraded where I felt like a needed improvement to get where I am now with my rig. I also did the best I could with cable management to make it look as clean as I possibly can. the last and only upgrades I want for my build is two 140mm fans for my front intakes to even out the air flow within my case. I will always work and continue to perfect this build as long as I own it.$1,703.92 -

However, this is now turned into my daily PC (still use my MacBook Pro tho) and I'm trying to get better at FPS with keyboard and mouse....Its definitely going to take some time haha I decided to opt out on the NZXT Liquid Cool and save $250...I'm debating if liquid cooling is really necessary as my PC is constantly running around 50*.
