I used to game on my gtx 1650 laptop, but it was starting to show it's age. Instead of spending around $1000 on a new laptop, I thought I would build a PC for around the same price instead. Right now, I only have a couple games installed, which are Prey and Need for Speed Unbound. Prey is a well optimized game, but it runs on dx11, and arc was known for having issues with non dx12 titles when it came out. I know Intel has gone back and improved drivers for certain dx11 games, but when playing Prey at max settings at 2560x1440p, there would be times where my framerate would drop from 144 fps to around 70 fps. The GPU usage would drop to around 30% To solve this, I ended up using dxvk to make the game run on vulkan. Now it stays at 144 fps all the time, with some shader compilation stutters. Using dxvk in dx11 and dx9 titles to make the game run in vulkan has a good chance of boosting performance with arc cards. To use dxvk, you just need to paste at most two folders into the game's exe directory. There are videos on YouTube that show how to do this. The only downside is that you can't do this in online games that use anti cheat. With need for speed, the game ran well out of the box. Playing at 1440p, I get around 70-85fps at max settings with xess quality. If I disable upscaling, I can reach the same framerate with textures at ultra and the rest of the settings set to a mix of mostly high and some medium. After setting a gpu fan curve, the hottest I've seen the GPU get is 64 Celsius, with vram hovering around 62 Celsius in a superposition benchmark. In terms of the ryzen 7700x, I was able to set a pbo curve of -35 on all cores, and I didn't crash after running prime95 for 20 minutes. I'll have to run core cycler and see if it is truly stable, although I haven't crashed in any games yet. Because of this, it runs extremely cool. At most, I've seen it hit 55 Celsius and pull 75w when gaming. In the prime95 benchmark, it pulled somewhere around 120ish watts and hit a max temp of somewhere around 86 Celsius. According to hwmonitor, the hotspot was also around that same temperature.

I call this pc break through beacause its my breakthrough into pcs and also because my case has an angular design that reminds me of a breakthrough. By the way my name is actually mayank but my dads name is rathna. I built this pc because I was bored during quarantine and i was watching bitwit a phenomenal pc builder and said to myself its time i try building a pc. I watched a lot of youtubers that kept on talking about micro center as computer heaven so i went and saw the locations and sadly there isnt a micro center in florida. So i bought parts from newegg, amazon, and the micro center web store to craft my awesome pc. It took me around 4 days to build it and it was so much fun. Thankfuly i didnt need to troubleshoot and it booted the first try. I use the pc as a workstation for creating games ,video editing, and for school. I am a middle schooler and I have a youtube channel with my brother. If I could i would probably add a an aio and waited for the b550 launch to get the asus rog b550f gaming . Also i would probably grab an rx 5700xt but now that all these rumors are coming up about rdna 2.0 and nvidias rtx 3000 line up of gpus i think im going to wait for amd and nvidia to spill the beans This was a huge upgrade from my old pc with a Intel i3 3rd gen running on integrated. Currently I have another project, building my dream setup and this awesome pc is the first step. My dream is to go to micro center one day and with the 500 dollars my parents would probably get convinced to take me to the one in duluth. L

Over the years I have replaced video cards, RAM, hard drives individually but I've never built the whole computer from start to finish. The last time I purchased or even upgraded a computer was at least 8 years ago. A lot changed but many of the basics still remain true. Before buying all of the parts I began watching videos on youtube to research, parts, trends and favored brands. I watched guys like JaysTwoCents to ground myself in the do's and don'ts of building as well as what to do once the computer is built. For three months watched video after video and then began planning my purchase. I've always been a fan of AMD. Even when their trustworthiness wasn't as quantifiable as it is now I would buy their products and never regretted it. My AMD focused build has been great and I'm excited to show off my first full build. I wanted a build which would take my gaming experience up a notch or two while providing an better overall pc experience during general usage. I'm very happy with its performance and built it with the ability to upgrade this build in the future rather than rebuilding from the ground up. I could upgrade the CPU, GPU or even dabble in some lite water cooling. Currently I play a lot of Pathfinder:Kingmaker and Stellaris when I'm in a Grand Strategy mood. In hindsight, I am something of a minimalist, I didn't feel the need for lots of RGB (can get a bit gaudy) but after seeing my GPU light up along with the lighting on my motherboard... I might have considered playing with the lighting a bit more. Or gone for more more power in the GPU with the 5700XT. Did you hear that? Sounded like Tim Allen growling in far off distance. lol

This PC was built for me to start my Youtube page in 2021, which will be called Davids Dime Time. I am currently playing Tomb Raider and will be starting Assassin's Creed Valhalla soon. Build is almost complete, just need the ASUS EK 3080 GPU and waiting for Lian Li to release the AL120 Uni Fans to complete the build. I call it "Da Fish Tank", because like a fish tank, I have fed it my money and look at it all day. LOL
