I've had a parts list in the works for quite some time but didn't pull the trigger given how hard it was to find GPUs. I wanted to build an "all purpose" type computer that could handle anything and that just included parts I've been jealous seeing in other builds. I mostly use it for work, 3d modelling, and a hobby level of crypto mining. I was in Microcenter to buy 3D printing supplies and they oddly had several 3080ti in stock which was the catalyst for getting the build going. MC had the 12700k chips for just over $300 and I didn't think I could pass up that deal. The NZXT Z73 was one of the parts that I have seen in so many other builds and just absolutely wanted to include. And I have no shame in admitting I like the RGB so I wanted to incorporate that with where I could. I got the enormous Phanteks Enthoo 719 case because of the hard drives I wanted to consolidate. I use these for my Plex server in addition to a small stack in Chia mining. I absolutely love it. Yes, its huge but it feels great and I love that I have room to grow. I didn't like the look of how the hard drive were exposed so I 3D printed hard drive covers that also matched the green, blue, black them of the computer. I selected the ASRock Z690 Extreme board for a couple reasons. I already blew my PC budget and just couldn't justify adding the price of DDR5 RAM. I liked how it had 8 SATA ports as well given my hard drive count. And the RGB.... makes things run faster of course. I over paid (compared to other RAM deals) to get the Cosair Dominator Platinum RAM because again, I was set on the look. 2x16GB so I have room to expand if needed. Problems: When I first starting my build, the MB would not boot at all into the BIOS. It was giving me a DRAM LED issue. I though my RAM wasn't compatible for some reason at first (I tried different sticks and got the same results). I had to bring it back to Microcenter and they confirmed the same results. Of course they didn't have another one in stock so I had to wait a week to get a replacement. Even though the case is huge, its amazing how many cables you have to tuck around. I didn't do the best job, but I got it to work. As mentioned, I occasionally will let the GPU mine when my computer is idle. I've repadded the 3080TI which drastically helped with the memory temperatures. I love being able to see the temperature read outs in the cooler when walking by.$3,462.90 -

RGB set to light with some blue accent colors as the character's color pallet isn't just pure white. After I've thought of the idea, I checked out and see if anyone has done it. Lo and behold, two setups I've seen were pretty much insane and that downed my spirit to make this build for awhile, but got back up to make it real regardless. It first started as a budget build, but dumped that plan out and said if this is going to be my first RGB build, may as well go all in. Other than waiting for the custom backplate and GPU bracket support, the build is pretty much complete.$3,319.90 -

This is the very first PC I built after being a console gamer my entire life and I am very pleased with the outcome. There were multiple reasons why I went forward with building this when I did – one of them being for remote working purposes as I am a Graphic Designer full-time for a company in New York City. I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t have streaming and playing video games on the list of reasons why also! Part of me wishes I went with the EVGA RTX 2080 TI XC Ultra GPU rather than my 2080 Super but I’m not complaining. I know I’ll eventually upgrade to a dual SLI at one point or another but with that, I’ll probably need a bigger computer case and a higher wattage power supply. Also going to get another M.2 SSD for my motherboard since two are compatible. I stream a variety of games Part-Time on Facebook and love interacting with new gamers in the chat!$3,231.85 -

I built it for vr - heavily modded skyrim vr specifically, but also vr chat. And also for ai - open source llms and stable diffusion. For things i would have done different, I didnt have the money for a really really good cpu at the time and i opted for a ddr4 board to save money - the 12700k is great but turns out its the limiting factor in my skyrim vr modlist (~500 mods). Overclocking the cpu and ram and tightening timings on the ram helped a lot but it still kind of chokes sometimes. I may upgrade to a 13900ks or a 7800x3d, and add a custom loop. Also i wish i got a asus 4090. The zotac doesnt give you the full 130% power limit and i dont want to flash a different vbios.$3,172.91 -

Reasons include moving constantly and needing to use my funds elsewhere. With the past two years though it was COVID and the GPU shortage that got me hurting in terms of completing the build. This rig is meant to last me over the next half-decade and let me enjoy old favorites and new games alike with an entirely improved experience. Times are rough right now, especially with Russia's war declaration on Ukraine and I don't know what more is gonna happen in this uncertain future... so I made the call to invest now before things get even worse. Self-care and stress release is important folks. Stay safe and game well!$3,139.94 -

I wanted to run machine learning development tools for my work which called for getting a higher-end GPU from Nvidia. Since I also love playing some games (Apex ranked atm) it suits a dual purpose for me. I've always wanted to build a custom loop and a white-black themed RGB looks really sweet.$3,118.94 -

When I first began to build this computer, I mostly built this computer with the intent of gaming and gaming only, in hopes of joining my schools esport team. However when im not gaming im able to complete general purpose work with great speed and efficiency in terms of game design and such. Being one who loves to play games and with the development of the esport industry and the games that come along with that development, I realized that I would need a stronger pc build if I would be able to continue my love for high quality gaming. MW, CS:GO,.Valorant, OW and R6S all run at great speeds due to the computers extreme efficiency. However, when im not practicing for a competitive gaming field, the computer is able to run Tomb Raider, Wildlands, Assassins Creed and all those story games very easily. Im hoping to continue to build and upgrade parts as they are released and the development of games and equipment continues to progress. However I strongly hope to get a better monitor. Finally, I also feel like building this lets me add my own touches and taste to such an investment. Rather then having a prebuilt one, one that is the exact same as another, I got to add my own parts and touches to it, letting it to really be something more then a gaming computer.$2,959.87 -

I built it with the intent i would keep it for a long time. Future upgrades? probably for show, I'd love to build a custom water loop as the case has room for it. I didn't because I was told I'd void the warranty on the GPU if I removed it's air cooler. What would I do differently? I'm not exactly happy with my cable management, but out of sight, out of mind I guess. What I really like is that it’s my first attempt at building. I’ve always bought Dell before. I got help on the forum here and watched what could only be described as an unhealthy number of YouTube videos (shout out to Linus Tech Tips) on all aspects ~ Component choices, actual build process, extras, and what not to do. The Wizard's Cinebench Score was 7102, I'm wondering if that is good. It seemed so on their list. I'd welcome any comments on that, i left everything pretty much stock in the bios other than updates everywhere..$2,929.85 -
