It was the last piece missing from my man cave. I wanted a clean build but powerful at the same time. I set the build up with dual 1440p ultrawide 100hz viewsonic monitors and an extra long hdmi to my 75” Samsung tv that is connected to my surround system via arc to the marantz receiver. This setup allows me to game at my desk or kick back on the couch with a controller. I also got a oculus quest with oculus link to play beat saber and Half Life Alyx!! I chose a EVGA 2080ti FTW3 ultra Oc to power all the monitors and TVs. I have made so many trips to microcenter during the building process I have become a regular and familiar with most of the associates at the St David’s location, btw they all rock! The complete specs are below: CPU: Ryzen 3600x Cooler: wraith prism GPU: evga 2080ti ftw3 ultra Oc RAM: trident z neo 3600 cl 16, 32gb Storage: nvme pcie 4.0 1tb, nvme pcie 3.0 1tb, seagate hdd 3tb 7200 Case: NZXT h710i VR: oculus quest connected via oculus link Monitors: 2x Viewsonic xg350r-c 1440p ultrawide, Samsung 75” 4K 7series Sound system: marantz 6008 receiver, dual mono block amps for front towers. This is a top of the line Intel based gaming behemoth. All of the components were chosen because they were, and still are, top of the line for a gaming rig. The customer brought the machine in this year for a water cooling upgrade. Planning for the custom loop was rather difficult, as the open air design of the case does not leave very many mounting options. The final result was well worth the effort. The case used for this build is the InWin D-Frame 2.0, which comes equipped with a built in 1065w power supply.$4,940.51 -

Can run all triple A games at max setting with great frames, I currently run modern warfare at all max setting 120+ fps. If I could do over one upgrade that I would have changed is the mobo. The Lian Li case is fantastic and can fit up to 9 fans.$4,506.77 -

Apparently, 11 out of 10 case mods currently are Cyberpunk 2077 themed, so I guess if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Of course, it had to be water cooled, too, and I haven't water cooled a system since the days of cutting your own window in a beige case and milling your own waterblocks. Thankfully, though, The days of shopping the plumbing department of Ace Hardware are a thing of the past, and I can just walk into a store and pay an entire seperate computer's worth of money for premade stuff! Having a 3d printer department in a store that's not located on a starship somewhere in the future was also amazingly helpful, and made the relearning curve of this entire mod bananas. Now I have an entirely new hobby that my wife can yell at me for enjoying. My initial vision was of a custom reservoir with a cyborg floating inside, with blood red fluid running through the tubes, like the sci-fi movie cliche where swimming in goo replaces all hospital beds, but then i realized that this is not my day job, so i improvised and bought a kit. I mean, what's a cyberpunk theme without a bubbling vat of person? The future is also shaped like a hexagon, so I added an aluminum hexagon pattern to the front panel of my case, and partly on top. I added 40 caliber shells with magnets inside, to the back panel for extra awesome. I've been eye-balling the Phanteks Enthoo 719 for some time, because I love full tower cases, and this sucker is a beast. Also, who has 2 thumbs and finally saved up enough money for a 2080 ti 2 months before the 30xx series is released? Oh yeah, this guy! Honestly, the card was worth the long wait, and chugs along maxed out at 4k, at around 37 degrees. Now all that was left was to bleed the system for a week straight, and add a half gallon of water to an improvised vase on the top of my case. This adventure is not for the faint of heart, and gives me nightmares, but the enthoo 719 weighs about as much as a Space X Falcon Heavy, so it should hold. The logo, fan grill, and cylinder base were all printed with a Creality CR-10. The base is just an enlarged fan grill available on Thermaltake's website. Homage paid to Akira and Elysium in the form of exoskeleton spine parts used as a cable cover.$3,973.82 -

This computer was built when I wanted to upgrade from my 2014 laptop so that I could get better performance in Photoshop and start to experience games the way they were intended. I was also hopeful it would help me do college work faster (I'm a computer engineering major!) and I was getting back into programming at the time. It was really exciting to build and joyous to see everyday tasks like launching programs being unimaginably fast, mainly thanks to that 970 EVO SSD! So yeah, I am a very mixed user of my computer so I need it to do a decent job at all kinds of tasks. If you're interested, I specifically: Play games: Mainly what I can do with friends, like Fall Guys, Among Us, Fortnite, Tabletop Simulator, Terraria, GTA V, including browser games like Jackbox and JKLM and Bonk and Sporcle, and other games I can enjoy alone like Celeste, Portal 2 (though I still have simultaneous singleplayer voice calls with friends for those too). Program and write code: I started with Python and then learned JavaScript to become a web developer, and am now working through learning Rust and re-establishing fundamental knowledge about data structures and algorithms that I was lacking before, and am going even deeper into concurrency. The description hint says to mention what projects we're involved with, so if it's okay to post my social profile, you can find me on GitHub as @babichjacob where I primarily publish tools for working with the Svelte web framework. Though less accessible, I also have code from my home automation and security system built on Home Assistant on there, in addition to other random learning experience repositories. Do some artistic stuff: I used to be more into graphic design with Photoshop, but have moved to doing web design as part of web development. I would love to see myself get back into graphic design if my computer is better able to handle it after upgrades. 3D modeling and rendering would also be something I could get into from that, so I'm excited. The upgrades I have lined up right now are for the CPU (currently Ryzen 5 2600 as you'll see in the parts list below) and graphics card (RX 580 8 GB). For those, I think I'm going to get a Ryzen 5 5600 from Micro Center because it looks like it'll be a great ~40% speedup and stay within my budget (not needing a separate big cooler either!). I'm still in the middle stages of researching a graphics card to upgrade to, but it seems like a RX 6600 XT or 6650 XT will be excellent upgrades that I can still afford. What's motivated me to upgrade these parts is that they may not be keeping up with latest games (typically having lag spikes and sometimes crashing) or with my expanding demands from my computer (complex programs having longer compilation times — I've been spending 2022 learning Rust!). My first attempt to solve these problems and make my computer work better for me was to upgrade the RAM from 16 GB to 32 GB (and add some RGB for more performance!), but it looks like there is more to be done. Thank you for reading about and checking out my build!$923.99 -

It is a new build, and most of the components were chosen based on keeping the build within a specific budget, while still making it gaming capable. I expect the performance to be on par with a mid-level gaming rig, able to play almost any game, but not necessarily at the highest possible settings.$691.93
