Running large simulations in Matlab, and some Machine Learning in Python and Tensorflow. I added another video card. I originally wanted to make my old PC VR-ready (HL: Alyx is not friendly with underpowered parts) by replacing the i5-9400F with an i7, but ended up dumping 2.5k on a new build instead. I clearly needed the 64GB RAM, i7-12700k, and RTX 3070 Ti for Cuphead, Slay the Spire, Dark Souls, and Celeste 😬. The 64GB RAM is nice, though - Lightroom will chew through 32GB if you let it. I'm not really a fan of RGB in the computers I build, so I tend to keep it pretty mellow. Could just be coping because I accidentally bought a mobo that doesn't have headers... but I like the way this turned out. I may not have those RGB gainz, but I can really feel the extra 5 FPS from the $30 Noctua Chromax heatsink covers. After I bought the Torrent, I found out that they were recalled because the fan controllers tended to catch fire - but luckily the one I bought was new stock with a fireless header!$2,544.91 -

I got fed up with my old MacBook and finally decided to build a PC for myself this year. I started gathering parts in July 2021 and got the system to post the following month. Most of the parts I got on sale through Newegg and Micro Center, and the motherboard was the one part I bought secondhand. I built this system for Battlefield 2042 and 1440p high refresh rate gaming. I also plan to use this to learn how to code/program; I want to get into a coding bootcamp to start a new career in tech. I may also use this for streaming, video editing or music production eventually. For a first time build, I'm pretty happy with how this system turned out. Let me know what you guys think as well as what can be improved to make this system even better. Thanks!$2,183.24 -

I had already planned to build this PC when the 3000 series was announced, albeit using a 3070 rather than the ti. My old build used a 2600x and a 1660ti, which was a very good price to performance pairing, but I recently got myself my first ultrawide, a 3440x1440 34" Viotek GN34BC, for an amazing deal from eBay. A pretty good upgrade over my old 24" Sceptre display. Unfortunately, my 1660ti couldn't drive it that well so I've been slowly buying parts for this build and signing up for as many GPU stock alerts as I could. I finally got an email from EVGA saying that a 3070ti was in stock, it wasn't the card I wanted (3070 XC3 Gaming) but it was in stock for MSRP. I jumped on it and it arrived only a few days later. This PC absolutely crushes any game I throw at it, easily hitting the 100hz refresh rate of my ultrawide. I also do a bit of streaming and the 5600x is a great bang for the buck streaming CPU. NVENC is amazing, with no frame drops while encoding 1080p60 5Kb/s streams. Can also push my Quest 2's full res at 120fps without breaking a sweat.$2,034.39 -

Was using a 7 year old prebuilt that was starting to give me frame rates in the teens playing games like POE. And when I saw games like Elden Ring, I knew I needed to build something new. Hindsight I should have swapped that front case fans for Fractals rgb version. There is also a “empty spot” in the case that is meant for a water pump is that is your thing. But I have plans to put in a small screen there to give me real time thermals on the cpu and gpu and fans speeds.$2,014.93
