My brother wanted to upgrade from his 3 years old gaming laptop to a proper gaming PC because his laptop is getting old and overheating often. He wanted something fairly powerful and can handle FPS games in 2K resolution. He also wanted it to be a small footprint PC, so he can move it around, so I decided to build him a pc in mini-ITX case. This is my first time building in a such small pc case, so it took me a while to research and make sure the parts I picked fit in nicely. Overall, the building process went smoothly. The cable management was a big mess because it was such a small PC case, but I got it sorted.$2,214.92 -

The entire build was done without much hassle, but the rear top case fan didn't fit with this low-profile CPU cooler. However, the temperature seems fine with the front fan pulling the fresh air in. I am considering replacing the glass panel with mesh to increase airflow slightly more.$1,905.93 -

But the CPU has really started showing its age despite the significant overclock so I decided to upgrade. The GPU is less of an upgrade compared to the 1080 Ti, but I wanted something efficient / low wattage that would still run the occasional game at 1440p and this RTX 4070 does the job just fine.$1,862.89 -

Initially, I had planned to upgrade and build myself a new gaming PC and give my existing PC to him. However, on second thought, my present system adequately fulfills my need, and building a new PC with all new upgrades would have incurred considerable expenses. Instead, I decided to build him his own PC with new hardware on a budget. I decided to go with Velka 7 ultra-compact case to go with this build, so it's smaller enough to be placed on the shelf along with his consoles. I have to say, I am very impressed with the gaming performance of this build. It was capable of running most games on 2k with stable, smooth 100+ FPS. My son was very happy with it.$1,629.95 -

After extensive research and numerous days and nights dedicated to finding the optimal components within my budget, I was able to successfully assemble it! The performance of this build is great! This CPU and GPU combination I chose is great for intermediate and advanced gaming, consistently achieving frame rates well above 144Hz at 1080p, which is the maximum refresh rate and resolution of my monitor. The temperatures are pretty chill with the cpu maxing at about 60 degree celsius on cinebench and idling at 35 to 40 celsius. The gpu is a little toastier with temps going from 62 to 66 celsius on heaven benchmark and 38 to 43 celsius on idle. I am glad I purchased AIO watercooling for my CPU!$1,610.95 -

I wanted a smaller form factor PC so it takes less room on my desk. And it will be more portable when I move to college next year. I got everything from Microcenter during their heavily discounted holiday sale. Highly recommended! The PC is performing great. I will use it to do coursework and some gaming :).$1,566.95 -

The reason I built this computer is because I wanted my brother needed one, and I wanted to make sure the components were as efficient as possible in order for the computer to last multiple years without upgrades. I used a B660m max mortar with a 12400 to BCLK overclock the cpu to a stable, but way better cpu. The 4070 is one of the best value buys for the 40 series, and should last a long time. Lastly, the ram is CL18 3600mhz; kinda slow, but it’ll get the job done. The game he mostly plays is League of Legends, which this build is way overkill for, but if he decides he wants to play more intense games, this build be able to handle anything at 1440p.$1,320.83 -

I originally decided to build a high-performance gaming PC for playing Minecraft, Overwatch 2, Call of Duty, and Rainbow Six Siege with my friends. My previous computer was barely able to run R6 at a stable 1080p60 so it was definitely time for an upgrade. The centerpiece of this build is the Ryzen 7 5700X Processor. I stumbled upon an incredible deal for this CPU online, a lucky find considering its robust performance and typically high demand. For the CPU, I chose the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE Cooler for its efficiency and the Asus B550M-A Motherboard for its reliability and features. The cooler itself had a very high amount of reviews and given its price, it has been performing fantastically. The memory, G.SKill's Ripjaws, also has not been giving me any issues at all 32GB is large enough to give me the headroom to run virtually any program I need. Storage was an easy choice, I went with the 970 Evo Plus for its insanely fast data transfer rates and reliability. I decided to go with the 970 over 980 for cost reasons alone, the performance was pretty comparable for my standards either way. The most difficult decision was the graphics card, and I ended up with a ASUS RTX 4070 and so far I have no complaints, and I don't plan to overclock for the time being. For the case I went with the Lian Li LANCOOL 205M, and I selected it for its mesh front and focus on airflow. This build was a long journey of finding the right parts at the right price, particularly the CPU, which was a lucky find that definitely boosts the value and performance of the entire computer's setup.$1,149.83
