My youngest has always been asking for a PC since his sisters has one, so I've been searching the cyber web for various parts to build him a budget PC. Lots of the parts are used, but I purchased the 5800x3d from Microcenter. The best deal I got was for the Louqe Raw S1 case. The original owner had a custom paint job on it and had a hard time selling it, so I was able to scoop it up for $30. All we did was use paint remove and sanded all the paint off. We liked the bare metal so we left it at that. The only problem with this case is you're limited on the CPU cooler. The best you can fit is the Noctua NH-L12S, but I have future plans to cut down the case to allow a AIO radiator to mount in the back. He is still young so he's been mainly using the PC for learning apps. He's happy with his PC, but now asking about a custom keyboard like his sisters T_T.$1,119.97 -

Some games I love playing are fast-paced FPS games like Overwatch, Apex Legends, and Valorant. It feels so good to finally be able to play at a high refresh rate after playing at 60 Hz for so long! Some future upgrades I would love to make are to add a couple more fans to improve the airflow and get 1tb or 2tb nvme ssd as a game drive.$1,519.92 -

My eight year old rig (2014) was starting to overheat, and showing its age with more current graphics limitations. Sure, I fixed it up with an ultra deep [overdue and neglected] dusting and new thermal paste; but I felt like I was ripe for an upgrade and more damage on the credit cards like a good consumerist US citizen. I had to get this baby running ASAP, so I could jump back into the Sea of Thieves and help bring Flameheart back. If you felt a dire need to be a pirate after the first Pirates film, and you haven't tried SoT yet, then you owe it to yourself to sample it. Open PvP MMO instancing, no subscription or pay/grind to win (gold is mostly for cosmetics only), $20 sale on Steam or Free on Xbox/Windows Game Pass.$2,258.77 -

I knew that I was going to put together a new rig to replace my wife's struggling 4th gen i5 gaming system, but things really kicked into high gear when Micro Center offered their buy a CPU get a motherboard deal at the end of the summer 2022. Used primarily for WoW and Toon Town, she is now able to "multibox" without the system breaking a sweat, while the older tower would regularly crash when trying to run more than one instance of a title.$1,671.95 -

This was my first time ever doing this. For being a first-timer, this took me about 8 hours to do. I could not have done this without the help of a friend of mine. However, as I have been doing things with computers for about 15 years now (most of my life), I knew I would be able to do this. I did not assemble this computer with any sort of specific purpose intended. I built it, more so, for playing games and whatever my future needs down the road may end up being. Once I had a previous computer fail on me after only a year, I felt it was time to try assembling a computer myself. Currently, I play ROBLOX, some of my older CD-ROM-based games (for the most part, I use older computers for doing this though), and every now and then, I will play something other than that. I used some higher-end components in this system for several reasons. I like to have a lot of programs running on a computer at once, which is something my really old 2014 Dell Inspiron was not great at doing. As an example, I may have 2-3 virtual machines running, several web browser tabs, a game, OBS recording, and Discord all at once. With all that, I still have plenty of RAM left over for opening something even more than that. Currently, I am using a 2014 Samsung S22C300 monitor, bought it new with a Dell Inspiron I bought in 2014. I did debate about replacing this monitor, but as it works fine, I decided not to. I have a set of Logitech Z200 speakers, I have owned since 2018, they have been good enough for my needs. As a mouse, I use a basic Logitech M100 mouse, as I am not too crazy about those fancy "gaming" mice, I just like something basic, and besides, why change something I have been using for years if it still works fine? For a keyboard, I am using a Razer BlackWidow V3 I bought nearly a year ago. This keyboard has the only RGB I am using on this setup, simply because RGB isn't really my thing. Besides the paint chipping, the only other thing I don't like about this tower is that making the cords look more presentable was something I was not able to do. I have checked to make sure, that no fans or vents are obstructed.$1,451.90 -

I wanted to build something that I could race, game, run Plex server, and watch 4K movies on with true HDR. All-in-one, and one-for-all; not separate devices! I built it and the gaming part was great, but the 4k Blu-ray part was only so-so : ( And then I moved on to a 3080 12GB ITX build and a second-hand XBox One S, because two purpose built things are always better than an all-in-one thing! Learn from my learning experience : ) Some of the part choices were forced, because the last CPU that supports Blu-ray disc playback is the Intel 10th Gen. I would have loved to go for an 11400 at the time (12th gen wasn't out yet, though I would have gotten the 12600K had I known a used XBox was such a better BD player), but a 10700K was my choice. Fitting it into the Silverstone Grandia 09 case was a challenge, especially for CPU cooling. I wanted something that could cool better than a low-profile Noctua, so I shoved a 120mm Arctic Freezer radiator in there. Also a learning experience; 120mm rads are not all that much better than air cooling -_- And although I did not need to, one foresight was to get an EVGA SFX-size power supply, as that made fitting power cables near the radiator MUCH easier.$1,560.89 -

AMD's AM4 socket provides that flexibility. This build originally had a Ryzen 3 1200 in it, but now has a Ryzen 5 3600. (Note that the "Create a Build" does not provide a 3600 option, so I selected 3800X instead as the most similar CPU). The 3060Ti gives this a lot of performance for the target resolution of 1080P.$1,267.92 -
