Instead of spending around $1000 on a new laptop, I thought I would build a PC for around the same price instead. Right now, I only have a couple games installed, which are Prey and Need for Speed Unbound. Prey is a well optimized game, but it runs on dx11, and arc was known for having issues with non dx12 titles when it came out. I know Intel has gone back and improved drivers for certain dx11 games, but when playing Prey at max settings at 2560x1440p, there would be times where my framerate would drop from 144 fps to around 70 fps. The GPU usage would drop to around 30% To solve this, I ended up using dxvk to make the game run on vulkan. Now it stays at 144 fps all the time, with some shader compilation stutters. Using dxvk in dx11 and dx9 titles to make the game run in vulkan has a good chance of boosting performance with arc cards. To use dxvk, you just need to paste at most two folders into the game's exe directory. There are videos on YouTube that show how to do this. The only downside is that you can't do this in online games that use anti cheat. With need for speed, the game ran well out of the box. Playing at 1440p, I get around 70-85fps at max settings with xess quality. If I disable upscaling, I can reach the same framerate with textures at ultra and the rest of the settings set to a mix of mostly high and some medium. After setting a gpu fan curve, the hottest I've seen the GPU get is 64 Celsius, with vram hovering around 62 Celsius in a superposition benchmark. In terms of the ryzen 7700x, I was able to set a pbo curve of -35 on all cores, and I didn't crash after running prime95 for 20 minutes. I'll have to run core cycler and see if it is truly stable, although I haven't crashed in any games yet. Because of this, it runs extremely cool. At most, I've seen it hit 55 Celsius and pull 75w when gaming. In the prime95 benchmark, it pulled somewhere around 120ish watts and hit a max temp of somewhere around 86 Celsius. According to hwmonitor, the hotspot was also around that same temperature.$964.99 -

I had Microcenter build this for me since I had never done it before. I will probably use this for some gaming and general purpose computing. I will play Minecraft and want to try Microsoft Flight Sim, and Forza Horizon 5. I will probably not upgrade anything major for several years.$1,874.96 -

I built this as a an office desk PC and wanted to build a ITX PC and wanted to show off my components. The Streamcom DA6 features an open air frame with no covers, which allows me to show off all my components, especially the GPU. Unfortunately the case does now allow me to put very large GPUs in. I purchased the 13600k as it was able to be cooled enough by the Noctua low profile cooler. While I was contemplating on getting a 13700k or 13900k, I was hesitant as those are not able to stay cool without thermal throttling alot by a low profile cooler. Cable management was tedious but I spend quite a bit of time to make sure it was cleanly tucked away.$1,366.86 -

I wanted to upgrade my pc and since everything on my previous pc was outdated I decided to give that to my dad. I then built a new one centered around my current RTX 2070 with the goals of high end gaming and streaming on the side. In hindsight I should’ve just upgraded my 2070 because the level I play games at in terms of settings makes it difficult to actually stream some games because my GPU is running at 100% load.$1,609.94 -

My PC is a gaming PC with a little bit of streaming and school work in mind while picking out the parts. I mainly play Rocket League but when I need a break from the game, I play Call of Duty: Cold War, and a little bit of Valorant. There aren't too many games I play with being on my college's Rocket League roster. I am also a content creator on Twitch and am going to school to be a content creator for my college. When I am not gaming, I am using this computer as my computer, whether it is doing school work, watching YouTube or twitch, or just surfing the web. As for upgrades, I would definitely upgrade my GPU when I get the chance and money. When I went to get my parts, back in late October 2020, my GPU of choice, NVidia GeForce RTX 2070, was out of stock, so I went with AMD Radeon 5700 XT. I would love to upgrade to one of the RTX 30 series but I am content with my PC's performance as of now. *disclaimer: while putting together my parts list for this showcase, I could not find my current GPU, it only has the GPU I planned on using*$2,218.06 -

However, this is now turned into my daily PC (still use my MacBook Pro tho) and I'm trying to get better at FPS with keyboard and mouse....Its definitely going to take some time haha I decided to opt out on the NZXT Liquid Cool and save $250...I'm debating if liquid cooling is really necessary as my PC is constantly running around 50*. Covid caused me to need a new rig for home, couldn't find all the parts I wanted locally so I drove up to Tustin and purchased all these parts from MicroCenter! first full complete build with awesome specs ( vs medium build and upgrading) First AMD processor in years, and I love it. Just finished Death Stranding on a new monitor with 144hz, amazing game. I added a lego tower at the end of my GPU to stop the uneven sag, and the lego figures are keeping a watch on things. I am debating on selling the 2070 super for the new RTX cards coming out.$1,903.91
