I built it pretty recently, with most parts being new, and a couple like the GPU being bought used. I made sure to get a Radeon card so that the drivers would play nice with Linux Mint, my preferred OS. I've been playing a quite a few games on it, like CS GO, Doom Eternal, Dying Light, Dota 2, and The Witcher 3. They all run pretty well, so I'm happy with the build. Of course, regular tasks like web browsing also work flawlessly. In hindsight, the one thing I would change is to get the F variant of my Core i5, because I have a dedicated card anyway, making the CPU's integrated GPU pretty much pointless.$887.51 -

Built as a daily driver gaming machine, future upgradability was a large consideration in the build. I wanted to right away game at 1080p over 60fps with most titles 2019 & older. However, I want to upgrade to be CPU The I5-10400f was bundled with the UX100 for $150 from an Amazon seller. The cpu and cooler were pulled from a gaming prebuilt, and were indeed in excellent condition. The I5-10400f itself is good, and will allow me to upgrade as far as a 3070. In early December of 2021, the RGB in the UX100 fried, and will be replaced with a gammaxx tower cooler soon. The RX570 was purchased on eBay, seemingly as an act from God, listed on eBay in October of 2021 for $225 before shipping. It had an RX580 mining vbios flashed to it, which I replaced with the vbios made for the card.$855.96 -

I started playing some games like Minecraft, and the hard drive was slowing the system down. I added a GTX 1650 Super, an SSD, and 8 more gigs of RAM to make it a modest yet capable rig.$886.93 -

I initially planned to upgrade an old HP Compaq for gaming and to use graphic design software. I intend to play Overwatch, Halo, Kingdom Hearts, Splitgate and more. For graphic art I'm mainly interested in digitizing embroidery files and want to make stickers and pins. After getting some help, I realized it would probably be better to build from scratch. I would have loved to keep my original case since I painted it pink and cut out a Jigglypuff silhouette but the CPU cooler and graphics card were too wide to fit. I do like the sleeker look of the new case but in hindsight I should have waited until I had the parts before customizing the case. I did go back to the store a week after building the PC to get more RAM more for cosmetic reasons than needing an extra 16gb. It took about 5 hours to build because I would rearrange how the things were and connecting the rgb cables was a bit confusing. Cable management wasn't too difficult but involved a lot of reworking how I initially connected everything. Next time I'll work on Cable management as I'm building. In general, I should have done more research before starting the build process because it would not turn on when I had finished. I realized one of the power cables was not fully plugged in after checking the cables for everything else first. In the end, it was a fun project and I inspired my boyfriend to want to build a gaming PC for himself.$2,003.91 -
