I like old-school tech, tinkering, and trying to make things work that don't make sense. So, I took an old Compaq Presario 4090US Internet PC case, gutted it, chopped away some of the metal on the back, and squeezed modern parts into it. Well, mostly. The system is a fully-functional modern computer, though for extra fun, I've Hackintoshed it to run macOS Monterey. Even though it's running the latest macOS release (as of this writing), it's still got old-school charms: I've got a working floppy drive and optical drive inside of it. Was even able to use the original power LEDs! The only real trouble was finding where to put the power supply, as the case was designed for a proprietary sized PSU. Right now, I'm just using double-sided mounting tape to stick it to the bottom of the case. Hey, it works! :D For comparison, this computer originally had 128MB RAM, a 30GB hard drive, an 800MHz Celeron, and ran Windows ME.$684.94 -

I use it to tinker with various linux distributions and related open source projects. I don't do any PC gaming, but the APU still gives me some baseline graphics capabilities. And the motherboard offers great expansion potential for future upgrades!$354.95 -

I play random steam games like phasmo, bloons td6, starwars battlefront II, Muck, Dead by Daylight, and Halo Infinite. I was given this pc from my Uncle, and its around 3-4 years old so I'm in need of upgrades, at least gpu-wise. I recently upgraded the cpu and motherboard at mc though, and went with an i7 10700k & MSI Z490 combo from Micro Center. I'd love to pick up some real rgb fans (not just purple ones, even if that fits my theme), or just more fans in general as, even without my psu in my case, it still gets pretty toasty in there. And I'm definitely in the market for more ram, as the pc came with one 8gb stick.$1,059.94
