Replaced my Dell Latitude E7470 that got at most about 12fps playing GTA Online and Divinity 2. It was not too difficult at all, despite being a small form factor. I do not expect to upgrade it or rebuild for many years to come, except maybe to add custom cabling. (but the stock power cables are working fine)$1,151.89 -

I primarily wanted my desktop to take up as small a space as possible and found building out of the NR200 case to be very satisfying. 7900 XT plays anything thrown at it - blew through Starfield at max settings. Highly recommend undervolting the GPU to save thermals. A less power hungry CPU would be even better to reduce heat. As much as I like the SFX-L Asus Loki PSU I chose, I recommend an SFX to gain GPU clearance. Highly advise against an ATX PSU as airflow becomes very difficult to manage. I would also recommend a shorter cooler than the Noctua NH-D15 as I had to force the mesh side panel closed.$2,345.89 -

A typical SFF build takes months; this one got done in about a day. Z790 board, 4090 graphics, fast RAM. Most parts from Microcenter, but the 4090 from Best Buy, the only place one can get the FE 4090. Modded the case to fit AIO on top. It's a very tight fit; few more mm space would be good. Microcenter should start selling slim AIO - with radiator less than 1 inch thick. Maybe 20 mm? ROG Strix motherboard Z790-I at $480 is a disappointment. No audio/sound on board (as per Asus design). The provided proprietary Hive hub is quirky and doesn't work, even after spending hours with Asus tech support to try troubleshoot it. Heading to Microcenter to buy a SoundBlaster USB to add sound.$2,439.90 -

THE VISION I was looking to build a gaming/editing/streaming rig that could handle maximal multi-tasking for my messy and excessive chrome tabs, streaming, editing, music, and games. I decided to pay the aesthetic task because I like the basic white look, but should you wanna make it black you'll be saving a few buckeroos here and there. For less than $2000, this build can run 2k and 4k resolutions, run most games at max settings, and is extensible and upgradable for anyone's needs long into the future. Maximal performance for minimal budget damage! Let's also not forget the anime waifu graphics card. Chef's kiss! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- USAGE I play a wide variety of games, both CPU and GPU intensive: - League of Legends - Valorant - Phasmophobia - Dead by Daylight - Dying Light - Stardew Valley - ARK: Survival Evolved - 7 Days to Die - Far Cry (Just to name a few) I also do animation/art/editing on FL Studio 20, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, Toon Boom Harmony, Retas Studio) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ISSUES I FACED CABLE MANAGEMENT: in this case can be tricky, make sure you don't have cables and stuff covering the backside of the radiator, this restricts airflow (my temps were very bad before I rewired everything) BIOS: Before you attempt to boot up the PC, have a USB with the motherboard's updated BIOS and plug it into the mobo and flash that shit. Making sure your BIOS is up to date will reduce likelihood of issues like storage/boot detection. (I had a problem where my SSD with Windows installed would not show up in BIOS as an option to boot from. Flashing the BIOS a few times fixed this) WINDOWS: If you have Windows currently on another build that you want to transfer, a few things to note. If your Windows 10 used to be Windows 7, that copy of windows can only be transferred ONCE. If it was transferred already before, you won't be able to activate it on the new PC. AIO: When mounting, how I have the radiator mounted is pretty good, just make sure your cooling block is never placed higher than the radiator. If it is placed higher then the liquid will not circulate and your cooling will not work properly. Mount the radiator fans to shoot hot air out through the radiator. FANS: Make sure you have more fans installed to intake than to outtake. Basically place more fans that blow air out of the PC then into the PC. Why? So that it sucks all the hot air and shoots it out of the case. Have maybe 1-2 fan(s) pushing air in from a different angle so that it's not just blowing the hot air that was pushed out back in lmao. For fan color customization, when picking fans make sure they are marked as RGB-addressable so that you can use a software to sync all the colors together. The fans I reused from my old build are only changeable via the remote they came with so I have limited color options.$1,690.55
