I wanted the new 5000 series processor and a new GPU in anticipation of games like Psychonauts. If GPU price wasn't an issue, I'd have likely gone with a 6800xt, but the 6700xt was a large upgrade over my previous rx470 card$2,848.89 -

This computer serves as my general purpose main computer for both work and enjoyment. Running Linux on it makes getting games working more interesting, but I've always been a tinkerer. I typically play games like RDR2, Witcher 3, Deep Rock Galactic, Rimworld, Celeste, and DOOM. I also use this computer for work and learning since my interest is in cybersecurity.$2,212.88 -

On weekends it’s for gaming and watching YouTube and on weekdays it’s for homework and if I have time (which I won’t) it’s for the same stuff as weekends. I will probably get a better monitor, a few more fans and more storage like a fast m.2 but it’s a great pc and it doesn’t need to be upgraded in several years.$1,846.92 -

It's overkill for the games I play currently but it's sure nice to only wait a few minutes on a Civ VI turn reload. In hindsight, I would have gone with an Nvidia GPU for the CUDA cores to get quicker image processing for some of my productivity tasks, but overall I'm very happy with the build. The current GPU has awful thermals when under load so I'll be replacing the thermal pads soon. I also am annoyed by the reset button placement on the Fractal case and have bumped it a few times, would recommend unplugging the pins to other case owners.$1,795.90 -

This build was done as a final refresh of a workstation that is based on socket AM4 and using dd4 ram. At the time of writing, the prices of ddr4 ram, ssd storage, and even graphics cards have all dropped significantly. So it was time to hit up Micocenter and make this happen. This build is about a true split between 50% photo editing (work) and 50% running games at 3440x1440 (ultrawide monitor) resolution.$1,769.91 -

Yeah the new hardware promises to beat the pants off it but l'll wait at least 6 months - probably a year - for prices to deflate a bit before I think about replacing it.$1,764.91
