I've been piecing this build together a bit at a time for the last six months. I mainly kept an eye out for components that would be a significant upgrade over my 11900K / 3070 Ti desktop build. Shoutout to the employees at my local microcenter who take time to hunt down the random clearance items I order. Everything but the AIO cooler and the ssd storage devices were bought at microcenter. Currently on the 13700k, I have all P cores overclocked to 5.8 with all E cores at 4.4 with vcore set to 1.35 and medium LLC. My ddr5 is modestly overclocked from 6000 to 6400 for the time being. I need to re-learn how to overclock ram because a lot of bios settings have become more complex since ddr3-ddr4 days. From what I understand, Hynix A die modules should be able to overclock significantly higher frequencies - I just need to learn how to pull that off.$1,624.25 -

It is used daily for everything, including three monitors. Two of these are used for gaming: One 34" ultrawide monitor that runs 3440x1440 at 100hz, and then alternately a 55" TCL 55R646 tv than I use for a console like experience (wireless controller, steam big picture mode) at 4k,120hz. I primarily play RPG / JRPG, action, adventure games. Up next for me is to play the recently updated current-gen version of The Witcher III at 120fps. The name of this build was drawn from the predominantly graphite & silver scheme on many of the components. I just rolled with this color scheme after finding multiple clearance deals at Microcenter that I considered too good to pass up. The graphics card, motherboard, ddr5 ram, and most of the ssd storage were all taken from Microcenter clearance. The biggest problem I ran into was also directly related to this. Specifically, the clearance / open box RTX 3090 Ti ended up being a bare card only and was missing the required 3-pronged power adapter that plugs directly into the card. Thankfully, I was able to contact MSI and I can recommend their customer support. Since the card was still unregistered and under warranty, MSI sent me the power cable I needed at no further cost to me.$1,775.77 -

I started conceptualizing my build about a year before I actually started buying the components. I worked on a budget, did hours of research, talked to experts and finally realized my plans during Covid when I turned 13 years old. Because stores were closed for Covid, I had to buy the parts over the internet - and even almost got scammed on my graphics card. Something was fishy to me so I cancelled the order and thankfully didn't lose anything. The ultimate dream was to have an RTX 3080, but it was way above my budget because it was the time when everyone was buying graphics cards to mine for crypto. I settled on a 2060 and honestly wasn't disappointed. It's been 2 years since my build and I have done a few upgrades - including picking up some PSU RGB extension cables from MicroCenter and a recent upgrade to a RTX4070TI which I am excited about. My next upgrade will probably be to convert to a water cooling system. I really like the RGB look of my computer and will always look to add more somehow. I built this computer for both gaming and school work. I play Minecraft, CSGO, GTA V, APEX Legends, Wolfenstein and a few other games.$1,059.93 -

This build was done as a final refresh of a workstation that is based on socket AM4 and using dd4 ram. At the time of writing, the prices of ddr4 ram, ssd storage, and even graphics cards have all dropped significantly. So it was time to hit up Micocenter and make this happen. This build is about a true split between 50% photo editing (work) and 50% running games at 3440x1440 (ultrawide monitor) resolution.$1,769.91 -

Very fortunate to have received a 2060 at msrp, and was originally planning on using an i7 but went with an i9 as the i7 was out of stock. Ryzen 3600+Gigabyte B450M DS3H WiFi+Radeon RX6400 low-profile in a Dell Optiplex 990 case. Front panel USB has been swapped from factory wiring to generic USB 3 connectors using the stock USB port locations. Power switch and indicator light were rewired using standard wiring. Built for streaming services and light gaming. RAM is Neo Forza Faye 16GB dual channel DDR4-3000 I had in the parts bin. SSD is a WD Blue SN570 500GB PCI-E 3.0x4 device. PSU is a Solid Gear TFX unit, as the stock Dell unit didn't have enough power on the 12-volt rail for the CPU and GPU. (I also set the CPU to "Eco Mode" so I have more head room on the 12-volt rail.) Heaven runs an average of 52FPS at 1080p ultra with extreme tessellation. Forest Benchmark was running at between 70 and 85 fps. Sackboy's Big Adventure runs 1080p 60 fps framelocked with raytraced shadows and all other settings on high. And yes, the optical drive still works.$395.94 -
