I originally built this comuter to play more casual games like Sims 4, Minecraft with RTX, Stardew Valley, and other emulation. Later when I entered my tech school, I began to use it to learn AutoCad, Blender, Revit, and 3dsmax. None of which I am good at yet lol. Starting last month I got a Quest 2 headset so I could play PCVR games using a link cable like Job Sim, Blade & Sorcery, Vivecraft, and Beat Saber. I use it for 3D printing and Silhouette Studio for crafting and stuff. I wish I didn't cheap out on my motherboard and storage because 1.5 TB isn't really enough anymore and my RAM is only running at 3333 Mhz instead of 3600. There also isn't very many USB ports and RGB headers for everything I would like to connect. Soon I am going to be doing a Snowblind mod whenever the monitor I ordered comes in the mail.$1,329.92 -

The point of this PC was to be a huge focus on value, not spending any money on anything unnecessary but still looking clean and with some RGB. Performance is great at 1080p and even 1440p as the RTX 3060 is still a great card for most games. The white Powerspec power supply with white cable sleeves really completes this PC as only the GPU and motherboard stand out as not matching the colour scheme.$675.93 -

So this whole project was kicked off by me personally stumbling upon and then purchasing an amazing clearance deal on a 6900xt 16gb graphics card at microcenter. The domino effect of this acquisition is that my previously card, a still-perfectly-good AMD 6700 XT 12gb card, was freed up and needed a home. My brother's kids are just now starting to move beyond casual console games and are interested in pc gaming. So this is essentially a budget-friendly build centered around my formerly-used 6700xt graphics card that my neice and nephews will get good use out of.$594.94 -

I'm calling this a postapocalyptic build simply because it is a desktop that survived the catastrophic failure of a power supply. Initially this build was done using a few older components along with inexpensive modern parts sourced from my local microcenter. Specifically, this was built with an aging power supply and graphics card. After some testing, I realized the the system had a catastrophic partially because it was being left on carpet. The inside of the chassis looked like the aftermath of a dust explosion. Ultimately I had to clean, rebuild, and replace the power supply and motherboard with brand new units. Thankfully the cpu and graphics card weren't damaged during the apocalypse.$339.94 -

After spending weeks coming up with a list of PC components, waiting anxiously for them to go on sale, and getting them delivered to your door, it’s time. You’ve got a phillips head screwdriver in hand, and you’re ready to go. He loves a lot of the "simulator" games for some reason and was complaining that the game Cooking Simulator wouldn't run at an acceptable level on an aging (~2017) laptop notebook with no discrete video card. So since it was around Christmas time, I decided for the "give a man to fish / teach a man to fish" approach. I pieced together a very modest collection of desktop components. Some of these were older, retired components such as a dated power supply and graphics card. Others were available to acquire at little expense at my local Microcenter. But the whole point of this process was to create an affordable, entry-level stepping stone for him. And also to have components that were fairly replaceable in value in the event something went wrong or accidents were made.$229.96 -

All those random gift cards acquired through the last month of holidays were using to subsidize the acquisition costs associated with on a new power supply (Corsair 100w), graphics card (7800 XT 16gb), and cpu cooler. I decided to keep my existing cpu (AMD Ryzen 5 3600) and motherboard (MSI B450 Tomahawk) because gaming benchmarks still show the 3600 to be pretty decent across the board.$1,074.93 -

Up until this point, I had been using a gaming desktop based on a Ryzen 5 3600 cpu and a nvidia gtx 1060 graphics card. I finally reached the point where I was no longer happy with the gaming performance I was getting out of it - namely in playing the recently released game Starfield. I looked at some gaming benchmarks and realized that the 3600 cpu still actually holds its weight pretty well in the realm of midrange gaming. And so ultimately what I did was replace the gtx 1060 with a new AMD RX 6650 XT 8gb graphics card.$658.92 -
