This was my first DIY build, and I went for a relatively middle of the road spec that's fairly well rounded and not optimized for any particular thing. CPU, RAM, and mobo were from a Micro Center bundle, while the other components were sourced wherever there were deals to be had. The only thing that is missing is a GPU, although the iGPU inside the 7700X has been sufficient in the meantime. The CPU undervolts easily, which allows it to draw only 65W compared to 144W previously and never getting hotter than 70C while only losing 10% performance. Meanwhile the iGPU overclocks pretty well, and was easily stable with a 500Mhz boost. The RAM ran on EXPO settings without any issues. I had originally planned for a 7900XTX and specced an 850W PSU, but my current plan now is to go with a lower end 7800XT or 4070 which has made the 850W a little overkill. In addition to a GPU, cooling will be upgraded with three more case fans, although for the current heat load the two fans are more than enough. The hard drive cage was removed to increase airflow for the expected 7900XTX, so the build uses SSDs only. Even with the change in plans, I'm not going to put the cage back in because it would involve unplugging and replugging the PSU, which is a bit of a pain to do. The room tends to be pretty dusty, and I have added a secondary filter to the front intake along with the built in filter from the case. One downside with this build is that the mobo's PCIe slot is one down, so it utilizes the second slot. However, the case only has room for four slots total, and therefore it limits the GPU to sub triple slot widths only. Coupled with the relatively short spacing available for length (306mm with front fan, 313mm with slim fan, 331mm without), it makes finding a suitably fitting GPU somewhat difficult with how big they have gotten. The front panel cable is also just long enough, but it's under a bit of tension so another inch would have helped greatly.$762.99 -

Been working in IT for a while but never got around to building a PC until now. Was previously using basic laptops and a MacBook Pro from ~2017 which were usable but not great for gaming. Made this for gaming, personal coding projects, and messing around with Linux, VMs, and sysadmin stuff. Budget was $800, was willing to go a bit higher but actually ended up bit lower. All parts except GPU were purchased new. CPU/Mobo/RAM were a Micro Center AMD bundle, with 32GB DDR5 added instead of the single 16GB stick. Mobo seems decent, although it interestingly still has VGA and PS/2 connectors that I probably won't ever use. I liked the Fractal Pop Mini Air case. Fits the microATX mobo great and is a bit smaller than a regular mid-tower so it doesn't leave a bunch of wasted space for the PCIe slots that aren't there. The build quality seems a bit better than other cases I was looking at too. It was pretty easy to get everything in, although wiring the rear fans was a bit tricky with the limited cable lengths and I ended up just daisy-chaining the cables to the front fan, which then plugs into the mobo so the cables are a bit sloppy. The fans are RGB but I currently have them set to solid white for now. I'm not using the 5.25" bay on the bottom front which is covered by a kinda finicky magnetic cover, but there's some extra SATA HDD/SDD trays down there which are nice. So far the Radeon 6700 XT has been great, I've been playing Death Stranding with maxed settings on my 4K TV which is way better than what my old laptops could handle, and of course older games also run great maxed out. Haven't really tried anything newer since I didn't think my laptops would handle it very well. Should be a good PC to upgrade in the future with AM5 and a newer GPU when the time comes.$779.26 -

It was time for me to update or "rebuild" the desktop pc I have been using as a workstation in my home-based small business. It does get occasional gaming use as well, so that's the reasoning behind the choice of a midrange card. I know that the 7600 isn't a powerhouse but it lets me get established on the new am5 socket. Down the road, I play to upgrade to a future model of cpu with a higher thread count for even better performance in workstation applications. This will probably be one of the new "3D" architecture Ryzen cpu's.$954.96 -

I come from a console background so building this as my first PC would give me more versatility in the games I could play. I mainly play a lot of shooters like Apex Legends and Overwatch so I didn't really need anything too high end starting out. Besides that, I'm planning to get a racing wheel relatively soon and start playing games like Assetto Corsa and iRacing.$1,050.91 -

I didn't care about having the best graphics card or processor but wanted a smallish build that was all around capable and this PC is perfect so far. I plan to do some moderate gaming on it. So far, I get about 120 FPS in Destiny 2 with max settings and load times are nearly non existent. For the case, I really like the cable management, build quality, and air flow. However, good luck trying to fill the 2.5 and 3.5 slots with hard drives AND have clean cabling. Everything booted great the first time. I did have to manually set the memory speeds to the faster EXPO.$1,404.92 -

I built it to get back to gaming after more than 20 years (back in my college days). Its my first build ever as well. I bought 2 bundles from Microcenter - CPU+memory+motherboard and then ASUS Prime case + motherboard + psu bundle. I sold the motherboard from the CPU bundle (since it was regular size ATX board). The build posed some minor challenges which i loved. The Asus Prime case did not allow fitting the Arctic 280 cooler so i had to change one of the fans to a slim profile fan (as you can see in the pic). The HD drive was not easy to mount either. I am not much of a gamer though - but I play Far Cry 6, Metro: Last Light, Counter Strike, GTA V.$1,473.89 -

Major upgrade from Intel i7 4770k / GTX 1080 rig to more future proof AM5 platform. This machine will be great for WFH / Gaming. I work in 3D / 2D design, and fast Zen 4 and RDNA 2 combo will definitely improve the speed and fluidity of the workflow.
