I wanted to run machine learning development tools for my work which called for getting a higher-end GPU from Nvidia. Since I also love playing some games (Apex ranked atm) it suits a dual purpose for me. I've always wanted to build a custom loop and a white-black themed RGB looks really sweet.$3,118.94 -

I originally wanted to make my old PC VR-ready (HL: Alyx is not friendly with underpowered parts) by replacing the i5-9400F with an i7, but ended up dumping 2.5k on a new build instead. I clearly needed the 64GB RAM, i7-12700k, and RTX 3070 Ti for Cuphead, Slay the Spire, Dark Souls, and Celeste 😬. The 64GB RAM is nice, though - Lightroom will chew through 32GB if you let it. I'm not really a fan of RGB in the computers I build, so I tend to keep it pretty mellow. Could just be coping because I accidentally bought a mobo that doesn't have headers... but I like the way this turned out. I may not have those RGB gainz, but I can really feel the extra 5 FPS from the $30 Noctua Chromax heatsink covers. After I bought the Torrent, I found out that they were recalled because the fan controllers tended to catch fire - but luckily the one I bought was new stock with a fireless header!$2,544.91 -

I built it over the course of many months while obtaining parts in 2018 and incrementally upgraded it along the way. I used it for all of my schoolwork and my gaming needs since then. It does need upgrades but it was been very highly useful and still is good enough for most of the games I need. Though modern titles do not get as high of an FPS as a modern rig, I have been able to play with my friends as necessary. I first purchased a prebuilt PC back in 2018 and it had a very strong processor for the time (i7 4790s) and a low end GPU (GTX 750). I used this build for a few months and I started collecting and saving PC parts. I purchased a GTX 980 TI from EVGA Midweek Madness deals and got a solid deal for the time at $200. My original prebuilt build was in a smaller case using a microatx Motherboard and the case could not fit the GTX980TI so I purchased a new case when I saw a deal. The NZXT H550 Build a PC Limited edition. I then transferred the old build to this new case and was able to install the GPU. After replacing the case, PSU, and SSD, I had a full build. Since my new case was larger I was able to make some upgrades from time to time as well, I upgraded to a Samsung 860 EVO ssd, a EVGA CLC 280 AIO, a EVGA z87 Classified Motherboard and some slight asthetic changes as well. This build means alot to me since it was my first build and I have since graduated college and now am working so I do not have the financial constraints I once had when it came to gaming builds so I am thinking of upgrading in the future. However this build was made out of passion and a very strong thought about the financial aspects of what I was building and even then I was able to find good deals for all of my parts using reddit and such. And It is still adequite for my gaming needs. Since I am now working I don't have the time that I did in college but I do hope to get back into gaming soon.$2,239.91
