Except for gaming at anything higher than ultra low. Other than the crippling old hardware, this pc for the use in a lan scenario and actually got a lot of mileage out of them playing csgo, tf2, and other old title. Made cheaply into a gaming pc, its performance can't be beat, costing around $100 to put together. It might be slow, but man the PC Case makes it look so fast.$116.00 -

Been upgrading this box for almost 8 years now, building off of the very well-supported AM4 platform. Started with 1st generation Ryzen and upgraded all the way to 5th generation Ryzen. It's running Proxmox and virtualizing TrueNAS and an Ubuntu VM that is running my Plex server. I sometimes spin up a Minecraft container as well to play with my friends!$2,279.15 -

I wanted to go current gen AMD, but was not sure about stability with 4 sticks DDR5 and Ryzen7000. I've heard it is doable but only at speeds below 4400 MT/s. I ended up with tried-and-true 5950x and DDR4 cranked up to 3200 MT/s. Went with matte black, no-RGB and no sleeved cables.$1,858.91 -

I've been piecing this build together a bit at a time for the last six months. I mainly kept an eye out for components that would be a significant upgrade over my 11900K / 3070 Ti desktop build. Shoutout to the employees at my local microcenter who take time to hunt down the random clearance items I order. Everything but the AIO cooler and the ssd storage devices were bought at microcenter. Currently on the 13700k, I have all P cores overclocked to 5.8 with all E cores at 4.4 with vcore set to 1.35 and medium LLC. My ddr5 is modestly overclocked from 6000 to 6400 for the time being. I need to re-learn how to overclock ram because a lot of bios settings have become more complex since ddr3-ddr4 days. From what I understand, Hynix A die modules should be able to overclock significantly higher frequencies - I just need to learn how to pull that off.$1,624.25 -

I wanted to make myself a modern day linux-based steam machine, that doubles as a build server for work as well as a host for plex/nas/etc, hence the strong cpu Loved the case for the DIY-ability and the m2 mounting holes absolutely everywhere. My highschool had a two week course where we could learn and build our own computers, we had a budget of 500$ and the choice to add extra from our own money. This is my first build and I am very happy with how it turned out. Using our budgets, I bought the 400$ bundle at Micro Center that contained, Intel Core i9 12900K, ASUS Prime Z790-V WIFI motherboard, and the G.skill Ripjaw 32 Gb 2 x 16 ram. Additionally, I got a PowerSpec PS 650GSM 650 W power supply, a DeepCool AG400, and a Seagate Laptop Thin 500 GB 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s 32 MB Cache 2.5 Inch Hard Disk Drive. Using my own money, I bought a Inland X1 black case, two Inland TN320 NVMe M.2 storage SSD's, and a Nvidia RTX 3050. I am very thankful I took this course and I am very content with how my PC turned out, it runs most games I play at high to max graphics (I mostly play RTS such as Men of War or Total War games). The total cost of this build was roughly 800$ USD with me paying around 270$ from my own pocket.$1,122.93 -
