I don't do much gaming anymore, but my old build was 2015, and I literally could not play some of the more recent games even if I wanted to. The old build was still fine for most day-to-day stuff and I wanted another build that would go the distance. So here we are. My first build was 1998, and PC components have come a long way. I wanted something that could run Cyberpunk at 2k on max settings and still get over 60 FPS. I wanted something that I could hook up a top tier VR headset to without worries. The Lian Li components are super good, but they don't have great software support. Mostly, I would say that they are first rate components with second rate software running them. It often resets, and I can't update because of their file servers (or lack thereof). The Lian Li case is superb. The strimmer lighting looks great and is customizable. The CPU cooler is where the RGB software could be better. Even with the great cable management, the back of that case is STUFFED with cables, Lian Li USB controllers, internal USB hub. The fact that I put a RAID 10 SSD array in there didn't help with space. It seems like no mater what improvements are made with cable management, I'll find a way to fill it with cables! I was going with an ASUS 4080, but it was out of stock when I went to the store, so I settled for the Zotac. It's fine, but the RGB is about 3 years behind the RDG in the rest of the box. Even though it was 1200 bucks, I won't hesitate to return it if the 4080 super comes out in time. I may replace it with a 5000 series in a couple of years. My background is scientific computing, and this PC is about on par with the number of threads and memory that was in $20K servers I was using in 2010. I really like that it's super quiet, even with 6 fans. When its running full blast, its makes half the noise that my 2015 does. I'll probably try DnD next...but then will go back to checking my email! This PC specs out in the top 1% in Passmark. But 1% is a huge number of builds. Maybe next time I go ThreadRipper and Nivida XX90!$3,655.81 -

I sit in front of the PC most of the day, so I want a comfortable and efficient machine. This is the build I go with. A powerful AMD 7700x CPU and a 4080 GPU is exactly what I needed. It's fast and responsive which saves me a lot of time when rendering my design. Plus, it's great for gaming as well.$3,217.93 -

I spec'ed out the rig, but made key changes at the store with the help of the MC staff to substitute some items. We substituted an MSI MB for a "better" Asus MB (bundled the MB, AMD Ryzen 9, and 16GB DDR5), separately bought a more capable DDR5 for 64GB RAM; save the cost of SSD and upgraded the graphics card; swapped the power supplies.$2,129.90 -

I've been saving up for months, and I finally have all of the components I need. The centerpiece of the build is the TUF 4080 graphics card. it offers up to 2x the performance of the previous generation. I can't wait to see how it performs in games.$2,639.92 -

Find everything on sale and don’t go overboard. Find a good CPU and MOB combo deal and save some money. I used the i7-12700 and the Z690-plus wifi DDR5. Great combo. Graphics cards are harder because they are overpriced. I used the AMD Rx 6950 XT because the bang for the buck factor. It was on sale and an Nvidea equivalent would have cost hundreds more. It is a beast too. I shopped Micro Center sales. The case is very important and Fractal design is the best. SuperNova power supply is reliable. Good memory vs cheap…don’t cheap out on this! Trident Z5 is the best. Have fun and watch YouTube how to videos.$2,217.41 -
