This was my very first gaming computer I ever had, assembled from leftover components and an old case from a prebuilt computer. Starting with the classics like Minecraft and CSGO, to more intensive games like Fortnite (i know, real intensive) and BeamNG.drive. It was with this device that I survived quarantine and managed to grow closer to my friends over discord. I'm submitting this form to help pay for my first solo PC build, which will replace this six-year old machine. I'm proud of what it's been capable of, and I'm hopeful someone will find the same joy in it once I pass it on.

After spending weeks coming up with a list of PC components, waiting anxiously for them to go on sale, and getting them delivered to your door, it’s time. You’ve got a phillips head screwdriver in hand, and you’re ready to go. For the purposes of my home PC building guide, I’ve used the following low end parts as an example of how to build a complete computer. These components are also exactly what you need to construct an modest – if a little last generation – Budget Home PC.

I built this PC to get rid of an older GPU (an ASUS ROG Strix RX 570 4GB) and also still offer a competent starter gaming system for its next owner. AMD's 5600G isn't by any means the best CPU out there right now, but I did feel that with a B450 motherboard (a Gigabyte B450M DS3H V1 and a bios flash) already limited to PCI Express gen III, the 5600G's smaller cache was really the only down side under the $80 more expensive 5600X CPU. Integrated Vega graphics is also a bonus in my mind if the card ever goes south, or if the next owner wants to sell the RX 570 while its worth good money and save their pennies for the next big thing. this CPU sips power, runs cool and the included Wraith Stealth cooler is more than up to the task in a well ventilated case. On to the remainder of the component choice! I chose an antec mid tower tempered glass side case because I found one open box for $41, the Power Supply is a Thermaltake SmartPower 430 80Plus white non modular unit, good enough for pretty much anything thrown at this PC's way, and comes with enough EPS power and PCIE power connectors to step up to a 5800 CPU and a RTX 3060/6600XT level GPU without a worry in the future. Building off the B450M DS3H board and the 5600G, I paired it with a 256GB SATA based SSD for booting and a couple of AAA titles. Bolstering this, I did include a 1TB hard drive as a secondary game drive. this combo seems to work really well and amounts to under $50 for the pair after tax. Not bad for one and a quarter terabyte of storage! 32GB of dual rank DDR4 sit in the two ram channels of the DS3H. 3600 CL18 is the speed they're operating at and the additional buffer is really nice for when the computer gets called on for production workloads or a bit too many chrome tabs! All-in, this system cost a hair under $550 after tax in components, and honestly considering it plays esports titles at over 100FPS and AAA titles at 1080P low at 60 or so.. this is a screaming value build that you yourself could probably handle too. the 4GB RX470 and RX570 are not very expensive on the second hand market as they're really not viable for mining most of the profitable coins.. you could snag one yourself and get something thats near parody with a RX 6500XT, has a video encoder and a decent video decoder built in as well for a lot, lot less money.

In the bustling town where I grew up, there weren't many options for computer enthusiasts like me. Sure, there were a handful of small computer shops scattered around, each offering a mishmash of components, but none could compare to the tech haven that is Microcenter. My journey into the world of building PCs began amidst these humble surroundings. Armed with determination and a modest budget, I scoured the shelves of these local stores, piecing together my first rig. It wasn't perfect, but it was mine—a testament to my budding passion for all things tech. As I tinkered with my creation, learning the ins and outs of hardware assembly, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more out there, something beyond the limitations of my small town's offerings. That something turned out to be Microcenter. The first time I set foot in that gleaming megastore, I felt like a kid in a candy shop. Row upon row of pristine components stretched out before me, gleaming under the fluorescent lights. It was a paradise for any PC enthusiast, with shelves stocked high with the latest processors, graphics cards, and peripherals. But it wasn't just the sheer variety of products that captivated me—it was the expertise of the staff. Unlike the often clueless employees at the local shops, the Microcenter team were true professionals, eager to share their knowledge and offer advice on even the most obscure tech questions. Armed with the resources of Microcenter and the guidance of its knowledgeable staff, I embarked on my next build with newfound confidence. Gone were the days of settling for "okay" parts; now, I had access to the best of the best. With their help, I carefully selected each component, ensuring that my new rig would be a masterpiece of performance and reliability. As I sat back and admired my completed build, I couldn't help but marvel at how far I'd come. From humble beginnings in those small-town computer shops to the pinnacle of PC building excellence at Microcenter, my journey had been nothing short of extraordinary. And as I powered up my new rig for the first time, I knew that the best was yet to come. At its core lay the beating heart of my creation, the Intel i7 8700k, a processor as reliable as it was powerful. With its six cores and twelve threads, it was the engine that drove my digital adventures, powering through the most demanding of tasks with ease. Surrounding it, like loyal soldiers standing guard, were 32GB of RAM, a veritable army of memory, ready to tackle any challenge I threw their way. And nestled snugly within the belly of the beast was a lightning-fast 1TB SSD, its silent whispers promising swift load times and snappy system responsiveness. But it was the crown jewel of my rig—the RTX 2070 SUPER GPU—that truly set it apart. With its ray-tracing prowess and blistering rendering speeds, it transformed every pixel into a masterpiece, bringing my virtual worlds to life with unparalleled beauty and realism. Together, we embarked on a journey unlike any other, a journey into the heart of gaming and streaming glory. From the darkest dungeons to the farthest reaches of outer space, we traversed virtual landscapes with skill and determination, our every triumph and defeat broadcast to an eager audience of fellow adventurers. But it wasn't just about the games—it was about the connection. With my powerful rig, I streamed in crystal-clear HD, my every word and gesture captured with stunning clarity. And as I interacted with my viewers, sharing stories and swapping strategies, I felt a sense of camaraderie unlike anything I'd ever known.

This PC was put together around the Intel i5 12600kf and Intel Arc A770 Bundle from Microcenter. The total cost for this PC was super impressive given the performance it was putting out. I am able to play demanding games like Flight simulator with stable performance using DX12. I posted some synthetic benchmark scores in the images for reference if anyone is considering getting the A770. If most of the games you play are newer DX12 titles then the A770 is legit. The Powerspec PSU and Teamgroup RAM were also great deals that really completed this build. It will be used for gaming as well as a general purpose workstation PC with its 10 core i5.

My consulting business requires some power and my laptop was aging far too rapidly. I also downloaded Baldurs Gate 3 and when it kept crashing that was the final straw, I decided to build my own showcase instead of just building them for other people. With a budget of only $800 I built the most powerful build I could and it takes everything i've thrown at it and then some. I'd like to upgrade the processor as soon as possible and potentially take advantage of DDR5 rather than the current DDR4

I have always wanted to make a themed build around star wars! This is my first custom build and I am pretty satisfied with it. It has a ryzen 1700x, 32GB of GDDR4 2666, RTX 2070 super, asus crosshair vi hero, and all RGB is Corsair. I play all different types of games as of right now I am on that apex grind. I am hoping to upgrade my CPU when the new ryzen 4 comes out and the RTX 3000 series.

I used to game on my gtx 1650 laptop, but it was starting to show it's age. Instead of spending around $1000 on a new laptop, I thought I would build a PC for around the same price instead. Right now, I only have a couple games installed, which are Prey and Need for Speed Unbound. Prey is a well optimized game, but it runs on dx11, and arc was known for having issues with non dx12 titles when it came out. I know Intel has gone back and improved drivers for certain dx11 games, but when playing Prey at max settings at 2560x1440p, there would be times where my framerate would drop from 144 fps to around 70 fps. The GPU usage would drop to around 30% To solve this, I ended up using dxvk to make the game run on vulkan. Now it stays at 144 fps all the time, with some shader compilation stutters. Using dxvk in dx11 and dx9 titles to make the game run in vulkan has a good chance of boosting performance with arc cards. To use dxvk, you just need to paste at most two folders into the game's exe directory. There are videos on YouTube that show how to do this. The only downside is that you can't do this in online games that use anti cheat. With need for speed, the game ran well out of the box. Playing at 1440p, I get around 70-85fps at max settings with xess quality. If I disable upscaling, I can reach the same framerate with textures at ultra and the rest of the settings set to a mix of mostly high and some medium. After setting a gpu fan curve, the hottest I've seen the GPU get is 64 Celsius, with vram hovering around 62 Celsius in a superposition benchmark. In terms of the ryzen 7700x, I was able to set a pbo curve of -35 on all cores, and I didn't crash after running prime95 for 20 minutes. I'll have to run core cycler and see if it is truly stable, although I haven't crashed in any games yet. Because of this, it runs extremely cool. At most, I've seen it hit 55 Celsius and pull 75w when gaming. In the prime95 benchmark, it pulled somewhere around 120ish watts and hit a max temp of somewhere around 86 Celsius. According to hwmonitor, the hotspot was also around that same temperature.

I built this pc to get into video editing, music creation, heavy gaming and streaming. I dont have any channels yet but im working on it. I got the idea to make a pc after watching bitwit and austin evans make custom pcs inside microcenter and when i found out i live only 1 hour away from microcenter i started planning my build, obssessively checking if motherboards were in stock (the board i was looking for kept getting reserved and sold out). Then one day i see they got a shipment and so i put the items in the cart and reserve them. I only reserved the motherboard and cpu because i was afraid they would sell out. So i planned a small trip with my gf to this store an hour away. At first i was just going to leave with the parts i reserved but walking into the store i saw an opportunity to grab almost everything (excluding graphics card more on that later) for a lot cheaper than i would get in other places and instantly instead of waiting on shipping. Luckily my brother upgraded his computer a couple years back so we had an extra graphics card laying around collecting dust so i decided to wait on the gc, insert the old asus r9 380 and keep looking at microcenter for a good time to upgrade. And thats what i would use this money for. I was looking at getting a rtx 2070 super but with the money i would be saving i can shoot for a 2080 ti! Thanks for reading -Billy Juarez Proud owner of a new pc :) -edit added powersupply to complete build isnt exact model but specs are the same added graphics card i would like to buy (to see full price of build)
