It's a gaming rig aimed at 4k 60fps in modern titles, as well as powerful enough (cpu) for emulators. Since I share the room with someone else, I used all noctua fans (excluding the gpu) to minimize noise. I also wanted a natural, minimalist look so I went with a modern looking case from Fractal.$1,973.92 -

I use it to play mostly FPS shooters, like VALORANT and CS:GO. A little bit of Terraria and Minecraft. But now, I mostly use it for simple word processing and school. Too busy with classes for gaming :(. I've done some pretty cool computing with it related to IT and hosting web services.$1,459.94 -

It's tiny and it handles 1440p like...well not like a champ, but well enough for a Final Fantasy XIV and a few shooters. It's probably a bit overkill for what I actually play on it, but it was way more fun to build this than to unbox a laptop.$1,184.57 -

CPU runs as 6 core x 2 threads per GPU, which is the best combination for optimizing runtime up to about 1,000,000 atoms in LAMMPS. This setup allows two systems to run simultaneously with nearly 100% parallel efficiency.$3,794.86 -

I built it back in February 2020 with friends, my entire friend group has always been in love with computers and when I finally got the money to build my own everyone helped out. It's decorated with all sorts of random stickers and nick-nacs, D&D/game themed pins and even an old pocket watch on the front. As far as games go you name it, I've got a capture card so I can play ps2 games through OBS. A true assortment of games to say the least, Minecraft, Foundry, Space engineers, Dishonored, Half life (both older half life games and half life alyx on pcvr), Metro games, Phas, Mirror edge... the list goes on for miles. There is not much to say on what I would want different, I will likely upgrade the gpu and cpu in the future but that feels years and years away from now. Regardless of what game I try to throw at it from when I built it to now, the system holds up. All that has changed with it from the day I first turned it on is the addition of another 2x8gb RAM kit, another 2TB HDD and a noctua cooler. Compared to the laptop I had previously this feels like owning a super computer. I went from a 940m laptop gpu and an i7-5500U which at the time of building my pc would idle at 80-100% cpu usage when running anything including a single chrome tab to a computer where I can host a dedicated space engineers server for me and my friends to play on together blows my mind to this day.$1,695.19 -

I built this as a an office desk PC and wanted to build a ITX PC and wanted to show off my components. The Streamcom DA6 features an open air frame with no covers, which allows me to show off all my components, especially the GPU. Unfortunately the case does now allow me to put very large GPUs in. I purchased the 13600k as it was able to be cooled enough by the Noctua low profile cooler. While I was contemplating on getting a 13700k or 13900k, I was hesitant as those are not able to stay cool without thermal throttling alot by a low profile cooler. Cable management was tedious but I spend quite a bit of time to make sure it was cleanly tucked away.$1,366.86 -

I've always wanted to have a NAS and a plex server and I deciced to go the DIY route. This will be my first foray into both and I also plan on using it as a playground to learn about virtual machines and more. The current plan is to install unraid and add plex as an app then in the future I'll mess with things such as a minecraft server or home camera system. The chassis is rack mountable and is made by a company called myelectronics based in europe.$553.95 -

I originally built this computer in 2020 with a Lian LI Lancool II Mesh case, and only the Sabrent and Samsung SSDs. However I soon realized that I would need more storage so I added the hard drive and Crucial SSDs. This computer handles anything I throw at it whether it be for gaming or for CAD design. It is great and I love it. I look forward to using this for years to come. In the future I would like to design and manufacture my own case to my own specification. The main games I am playing right now are COD Warzone 2, MARVEL Spider-Man remastered. Some games I do want to get into are No Mans Sky and Cyberpunk.$3,842.99 -

The motherboard stopped working. Initial intention was to upgrade to AMD 4 which had both good specs and prices. However, AMD 5 was on the horizon and I decided to wait and build to that spec to provide a longer life for the motherboard. I selected AMD as my builds for my wife use Intel and thus I could compare prices, specs, features, etc. The AMD 3 computer was quite efficient and more than sufficient for my foci on writing, from essays to books, and basic graphics. I often had multiple programs open as writing required accessing sources, looking at uses of the sources and my music to work by, ideally running simultaneously. The graphics programs were used for cleaning up old family photos, films and other materials such as newspapers. As I am not professionally into photo and video technology, I use basic software such as that from Cyberlink. The family pictures date to the turn of the 20th century and by the late 1930’s included old Kodak family films. I then sent the processed files to third parties to be placed on DVD’s which were distributed to family. For my AMD 5, all components were purchased locally, all but one M2 at Microcenter as I want to keep such local sources viable. I selected the Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite motherboard, The retail cost was under $300, had the latest chipset and could be bundled with both other hardware and software. I was particularly interested in using M2 storage and the motherboard had three slots for it, one tied directly to the CPU and two PCle 4.0 slots. For memory I purchased a one TB M2 2280 for the CPU slot on which I put Windows 11 and a second partition for downloaded software that I installed in the C: partition. For data files I selected a 2 TB mvme which was a later purchase from Best Buy. The latter was on special sale, almost 50% off. On this device I created three partitions for storing documents, music and pictures/videos. I had planned on using my existing 3 TB HDD but it too had stopped working. I hope to recover the data from it. The slots for the M2 storage are under a heat sink located next to the PCle 16 slot. Thus the M2 devices did not need any heat sinks. The slots are partially under my PowerColor RX 6600 graphics card with 8 GB of memory. I am not a gamer so don’t need the most recent graphics chips but did want a decent card with sufficient memory for a future 32 inch monitor. I purchased a Ryzen 7 7700X CPU that was bundled with 32 GB of GSkill memory. I selected the Noctua UH-14S cooler. The cooler is a large passive heat sink nearly six inches high and three inches wide. It comes with an attached fan but a second fan can be attached to the other side. I installed only one fan. I used existing hardware for the rest of the build. All was installed in my Antec server mid-tower case that has room for the cooler. The case has temperature controlled fans, one on the top back of the case and two on the top of the case. I reused my Antec 1000 watt platinum modular PSU along with my LG internal Blu-ray read/write drive. I have a 27 inch ASUS monitor and connected it via HDMI. After more than a month of using the new build, it runs fast and cool. The CPU cooler fan is almost noiseless and the case fans have not been turned on as the operating temperature is low. Booting takes less than 15 seconds and shutting down is about 5 seconds. The build was under $1,500 including tax. I look forward to increased efficiency and pleasure in my computing.$1,084.94 -

Built this PC as a primarily gaming focused rig with 3D modeling and light AI training on the side. 7700x paired with a 4080. I am currently on a survival game kick, but I play pretty much anything first person. Obviously this PC has no problem keeping up! If I did it again, I would use a smaller cooler than the NHD-15. It performs fantastic, but it is so big it is hard to work around when adding an M.2 drive for instance. Now, I would for a b650 motherboard over the x670, but at the time, the B series boards were the same price as the x670 boards.$2,438.91 -

My brother wanted to upgrade from his 3 years old gaming laptop to a proper gaming PC because his laptop is getting old and overheating often. He wanted something fairly powerful and can handle FPS games in 2K resolution. He also wanted it to be a small footprint PC, so he can move it around, so I decided to build him a pc in mini-ITX case. This is my first time building in a such small pc case, so it took me a while to research and make sure the parts I picked fit in nicely. Overall, the building process went smoothly. The cable management was a big mess because it was such a small PC case, but I got it sorted.$2,214.92
