Black Box With Wood
by Zarif Posted on: 5/3/2024Build Description
I like the Fractal North case because you can just look at it and be pleased after a very expensive purchase decision. I wanted the inside to be blacked out since you can't really see the inside of your case all the time, and the only RGB I really want is the Geforce RTX logo from my graphics card. Decided to be conservative on the specs I go with, albeit the 7800 X3D bundle is too good to pass up. I wanted to save the rest of the money for a very nice (and expensive) QD-OLED monitor, preferably, something like the MSI MPG 321URX, which is sadly still not in stock. Other than that, Noctua fans keep my PC quiet without any annoying frequencies, which is useful since I use open-back headphones. 4 TB main drive should last for a while, and cover all my storage needs.
Favorite Feature
I like how simple and elegant the build came together, and an all black interior hides my sloppy cable work. : )
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Raphael AM5 4.2GHz 8-Core Boxed Processor - Heatsink Not Included
Qty: 1
$175.00
One of the best gaming CPUs, though it won't matter much for 4k, likely. However, insane value when considering this bundle.
Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V1 AMD AM5 ATX Motherboard
Qty: 1
$199.99
6-layer Mid-loss PCB, unlike the Aorus Elite AX V1, which I would've preferred more. However, it is perfectly fine, especially, if you don't plan on OCing your RAM. Insane bundle.
NVIDIA Founders Edition GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER
Qty: 1
$599.99
Founders edition cards are really well made, some of the quietest cards too, I believe. The RTX logo shining through just looks nice.
G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000 PC5-48000 CL32 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit F5-6000J3238F16GX2-FX5 - Black
Qty: 1
$114.99
Not 6000 CL30, but with the 7800 X3D it hardly matters. Insane bundle.
Fractal Design North Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower Computer Case - Black/Walnut
Qty: 1
$149.99
One of the best looking and high airflow cases. The only case I've seen that wowed me more in person was from Hyte, but that's a different aesthetic entirely than what I was going for.
Seasonic USA Focus V3 GX-1000 1000 Watt 80 Plus Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply - ATX 3.0 Compatible
Qty: 1
$139.99
Seasonic seems pretty reputable, so I went with them.
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 Black 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler
Qty: 1
$38.90
Great heatsink, but I replaced the fans.
MSI SPATIUM M480 PRO 4 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Qty: 1
$285.00
Crucial T500 2TB was the other choice, but I wanted more storage, like, right now.
Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM chromax.black.swap 60.09 CFM 120 mm Fan
Qty: 3
$34.50
Used as heatsink fan, and single rear exhaust. Would get more if I could, but they're very expensive.
