RYZEN - Home School & Gaming ITX
by Eric W Posted on: 9/16/2020Build Description
With homeschooling on the horizon, I knew that I had to provide a better solution for my 5th grade son to continue his education instead of the school provided Chromebook. I'll end up playing tech support, so I wanted to make sure that I had a decent computer for him and I to work on. Budget was also important, so I picked up most items on sale at MicroCenter and we ended up building a perfect computer for our needs.
It was a great build to work on with my son. His small hands were helpful reaching into the small case to plug in cables. Plus it was a great learning experience for him!
I had a spare monitor and a GPU I pulled from my machine when I upgraded back in January, so I figured I'd put them to use and build my second computer. Asides for school work, my son also plays Fortnite, so I wanted to make sure that the computer was powerful enough to handle that.
Size and portability were also important so I decided to go with the Lian Li TU150 and built in the ITX form factor. Right now he's working on a D.I.Y. desk in the basement, but one day he'll want to take the computer up to his room. The weight and case makes for a very portable solution.
I used the Ryzen Wraith stock cooler to start, but I'd like to update in the near future, and he is saving for a nicer keyboard.

Favorite Feature
I love the Lian Li TU150 case and the associated form factor. The Ryzen 3600XT has been running perfectly!
