My first gaming computer
by Michaela F Posted on: 10/3/2022Build Description
This PC was my Covid project, I built it in the summer of 2020. I couldn't afford to buy all the parts to build a new PC so instead I upgraded an old desktop computer that was no longer in use with some new parts so that it can play modern games. The memory and CPU both needed to be overclocked to make this happen, since they're pretty old. When I eventually upgrade this, I'm going to have to replace about half of the parts, since the motherboard is far too old to handle any modern ram or CPU. I'm pretty sure the motherboard has the newest CPU possible and can't take any ram faster than DDR3. But oh well, I'm pretty sure most people upgrade those parts every few years anyways. I enjoy playing Skyrim, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Kingdom Hearts, Fall Guys, and Rocket League on this computer.

Adding a better heat sink on the CPU was a nice upgrade from the original computer, as it allows me to overclock the CPU by about 30% without overheating it.

Having 2 different types of ram probably should not work, but if you wiggle it around enough and pray, it actually does.
