I do a lot of casual gaming, but I enjoy playing with the graphics cranked up most of the time so I chose the parts based on the fact that I'll be using it for everyday use like YouTube, Discord, Twitch and gaming. I do stream but it isn't often, and despite all of the problems with Intel I'm happy to say that so far at least I have been able to keep my rig at stock settings and haven't had any issues since I built the pc over 9 months ago .$2,679.93 -

Mostly new parts but bought CPU and case with fans second hand and a few things on deals or with coupons savings money. Putting it together was very easy after watching videos and reading manuals. Just need to take time and be firm but delicate with parts. As for bios settings, using Intel POR helps keep everything cool and playing games with no hassle. Fans don’t get very loud when going full blast so generally a very pleasant experience using the PC so far.$2,994.91 -

I needed an upgrade from my 11-year-old MacBook Pro from 2013 (2.6 GHz Intel i7 Nvidia GT 750M 2GB) which could barely run Minecraft, so after saving up for a few years I finally got the budget for a high end build for moderate gaming and light productivity for college. An upgrade from my 2010 build, this computer is primarily meant to last another 10 years with Photoshop, web browsing, video-watching, and the occasional video game playing on it. I wanted a solid foundation with the latest Intel processor, DDR5 RAM, SSDs for system and primary storage, and 8TB HDDs in RAID 1 for backup of years of art files and the likes. The GPU is fairly underwhelming, all things considered with this build, but GPU isn't my primary concern and it's also about the easiest thing to swap out when I need to upgrade it. Since I'm not doing water-cooling, I went with a well-ventilated case a Noctua CPU air cooler, and added Noctua's budget fans to the front (using the case's included two fans for a rear and top ventilation.) I also am going with a stealth build... everything is all-black (except the Noctua budget fans... which I may swap or paint later), and I've turned off all lighting (except for the power light.) I do have a slight buzzing from the glass panel of the case that I need to remedy at some point though. I also mis-read the mouse packaging and thought it was a wireless-charging mouse. Instead, it's a standard AA battery. The Keyboard is nice, except that the D key illumination LED is already miscolored days after initial use, and it doesn't keep its key-lighting setting after power-cycles (FN+F12)$3,205.68 -

I build this system so I could stream and game at the same time, rather than run two pc's at once. I usually stream a selection of games and whatever is currently popular I will make content on. I upgraded to a msi suprim liquid x 4090 and i9 13900k. The pc is rocking a msi edge wifi z690 mobo , 32 gigs ddr4 corsair vengeance pro ram , msi 1000 watt psu, artic freezer II 420 mm rgb aio and 2 sets of lian li fans. When I got the 420 mm aio I didn't account for the thickness and how big it is. So as you can tell the case had to be cut and modified a little, since I spent all of my budget on the cpu , aio and gpu. Overall it looks amazing, this pc has come a long way! I will eventually have to upgrade my chair from a bad 100 dollar "gaming chair" to a more comfortable one.$3,207.91 -

After upgrading to a 4K, 144HZ monitor for accessibility purposes, I soon realized that my 6800 XT couldn't quite push the frames I wanted for games at 4K. I decided to upgrade my entire rig in order to get the absolute maximum out of the DDR4/Z790 platform for the next 5+ years. I work heavily with Docker, Hyper-V/VMWare Workstation, and WSL - so 64GB of RAM is a necessity for me. Additionally, my i9-13900K gets put to great use in my professional workloads I handle at my employer. If I were just gaming, I probably would have saved a lot of money by going with an i5-13600K, a cheaper board, and more "optimal" choices - but I have specific use cases (such as a TPM for Bitlocker, even in the event of a BIOS update). For compute performance: the i9-13900K wipes the floor of every other chip I've laid my hands on. Even compared to my old Ryzen 5 1600, my system feels like a completely new one. Everything is immediately so much faster to open, load, download, render, and process. A good reason for this is also due to my choice of storage - all PCIE 4.0 SSDs. For boot, I bought the (at the time) fastest & available 2TB M.2 SSD for my operating system + games. I considered a WD SN850X, but I've had reliability issues with my old SN850 - so I steered clear. The other three SSDs are cheaper SN750 SEs I got on sale for bulk storage/ISOs/VMs and my music library. In games, my 7900 XTX also wipes the floor - even compared to my still-venerable 6800XT! I'm able to constantly achieve 190FPS (capped) in Apex at 4K competitive settings, and I imagine just about every other game I may want to play for the next few years will run excellent as well. I could have gone for an RTX 4090 for the maximum 4K performance possible, however, I refuse to support NVIDIAs practices and I've had bad luck with their drivers. This specific GIGABYTE model of 7900 XTX was chosen just because it was in stock around MSRP and runs cool. I never get above 75c at 100% load. I went with DDR4 on Z790 mostly out of convenience: at the time - I already had a high-end 4000MHz CL15 kit laying around and I didn't want it to go to waste. This is also why I have the Corsair Vengeance fan over my RAM - that kit ran very hot. Unfortunately, my needs increased early this year, and I had to upgrade to 64GB of RAM. I took a tiny bit of a performance hit by getting slower RAM, but in the real world, it doesn't make a difference. If I were building everything brand-new at once, I would 100% go DDR5 now that the platform has matured a bit. For Power Supply, I went overkill: I got a 1200W PSU, and ATX 3.0/PCIE 5.0 ready as well. While I don't plan on buying a 4090, having the ability to use 12VHPWR is nice. The RM1200X Shift is quiet, cool, and fits in my case. However, your mileage may vary when fitting it in your case - wait for more reviews and PCPP to verify compatibility. For my case, cooler, fans, etc. - I went with about the best I could without having to go full water-cooling. The only reason I went full-ATX is just for convenience sake, but in retrospect I don't think I'd change to a smaller case since I'm not moving it around often. All-in-all, I'm incredibly satisfied with my 4K gaming PC & workstation. PC building and repair is my hobby and has been for 10+ years - and now that I'm an adult I'm proud to call myself an enthusiast.$3,208.92 -

Along with anything else I may need to do on a computer. The future upgrades I see coming is adding the Lian-Li strimmer's for the 24 pin and 12 pin, and maybe 32 GB more of DDR5 ram. I am a gamer, and I focus on graphics and smooth game play, so the games I play take up a lot of room and computing power. With a game library of over 1,000 games and constantly getting more, I have to keep adding and/or replacing parts to my rig. Anything from older Command and Conquer games, Mass Effect, Starcraft; to new hits like Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, Destiny 2, Battlefield. With this in mind I am always looking at new gear and reviews (even when not planning an upgrade) so I am able to keep up with new games while making sure I can still play the old favorites. I am looking into the streaming field as well, just not sure how to start getting followers.$8,174.25
