Went with the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X and the MSI Radeon RX 6900XT GAMING X TRIO. Both seem to be great so far although the CPU does run a little hot at 95 degrees went testing with Prime95. Bought the CPU and RAM together from Microcenter because they were offering the RAM for free when you buy the new AMD chip. For the case and cooling I went with Fractal because I liked that they had great looks while still providing good airflow while also being pretty minimal. I went with the lite version of the Meshify 2 Compact to save money, but if I were to do it again I would get the non-lite version. I originally didn't plan to add much RGB but eventually I fell victim to the pretty lights. As a Software Engineer I plan to use this for some development work along with some gaming. I'm hoping to eventually use this setup for VR too. Currently have it paired with three monitors in PLP orientation, one Gigabytle G34WQC A and two Dell 1708FP, along with the NuPhy Air60 keyboard and Logitech MX Master 3 mouse.$1,780.94 -

I like old-school tech, tinkering, and trying to make things work that don't make sense. So, I took an old Compaq Presario 4090US Internet PC case, gutted it, chopped away some of the metal on the back, and squeezed modern parts into it. Well, mostly. The system is a fully-functional modern computer, though for extra fun, I've Hackintoshed it to run macOS Monterey. Even though it's running the latest macOS release (as of this writing), it's still got old-school charms: I've got a working floppy drive and optical drive inside of it. Was even able to use the original power LEDs! The only real trouble was finding where to put the power supply, as the case was designed for a proprietary sized PSU. Right now, I'm just using double-sided mounting tape to stick it to the bottom of the case. Hey, it works! :D For comparison, this computer originally had 128MB RAM, a 30GB hard drive, an 800MHz Celeron, and ran Windows ME.$684.94 -

Mainly the ability to play casual games, perform regular tasks, but not exceed an absurd budget. Was upgrading an originally Intel/Nvidia gaming build from 2013 that can meet regular PC requirements in 2022. Last step is to purchase and install an RX 6800 XT to pair with the new AMD cpu. Mixture of parts that were salvaged from the previous build and parts purchased this year to bring the Budget Build into a more respectful up-to-date PC. With the budget prices I paid for the new parts, selling of old parts, and being able to salvage some old parts, I believe I accomplished the "Budget Build" name during the insane chip shortage era. GPU still in process.$2,242.60 -

My first custom built PC after upgrading from my last PC, an HP Omen pre-built. It wasn't a bad PC, but the amount of custom proprietary components in the system was a bit annoying and I wanted to upgrade either way. This PC runs games very well on my ultrawide monitor, so I am very happy with the results. Also, the case and it's overkill amount of fans looks pretty good, and keeps the system cool even under heavy load.$2,054.94 -

I wanted to build an all white PC for myself from so long. I am a huge fan of small form factor. I wanted the PC to occupy less space but don't want to compromise on cooling. This SFX case from Jonsbo made it possible. It is not a very popular case and I wanted it for that reason. Ordered in from Aliexpress and waited for decent time. Apart from the case all other parts are best in the class. 5800X3d launched at the right time. Added white case mod cables and white fans from Arcitic. Added an after market plate for the Noctua cooler. Actually I went with the cooler as there are after market parts available for this one. Very happy with it and should serve my streaming and design work for quite some time.$2,643.95 -

This is my first pc build and I wanted to go all out with this build making it a high-end gaming pc for a long-time use. I spray painted the case to match the look of Kratos from God of War 3 with the front mesh being the "Golden Fleece" he wears from the game and as well as red plastic tints to represent the tattoo he has around his body. I use this PC to play games such as BO3 because it was a childhood classic for me. Hopefully in the future God of War Ragnarök will hopefully come to pc in steam the same as its predecessor. I also use this for streaming for the sole purpose of capturing the funny moments I have playing games with my friends.$2,827.93 -

This is the first PC I've built, been into them for years but just never had the opportunity to build one until recently. This build is the culmination of all the research and knowledge I've gained. To be honest, with how this build looks, all of my subsequent builds will likely just be downhill from here. There were regrets for this build however such as getting higher speed memory, a case with more airflow, and better fans. I'll preface this by saying I did not buy everything around the same time, the parts were spread out over the span of a couple years. I snagged a set of 3200MHz C16 for a decent deal (for that time period) back when 3200MHz was the standard until just a while afterwards, 3600MHz became the new norm. I got the Corsair Obsidian 500D just since I thought it looked clean but because I cared for aesthetics at the time, I sacrificed on airflow which I regret. All is not bad though since this is all still on a custom water loop. I do plan on modding the aluminum front panel (I got the standard 500D and swapped out the aluminum front panel for the tempered glass front panel) for the case so it has a giant hole in the middle so the fans can breathe easier so I won't be regretting the case decision as much. Reality hit me hard when I realized Corsair's QL fans are glorified RGB rings, I would much rather have gone with Noctua fans (psst, I'm down to trade them for Noctua fans if anyone locally is interested). Definitely wanted to build something beefy to play games but also do a lot of other things on the side simultaneously. I tend to push my hardware pretty hard so compromising for weaker parts was not ideal. Been casually enjoying F1 2020 but I also have a fondness for Nier:Automata and playing that modded with high quality assets and higher frame rate would really put the immersion just that extra step further. Subnautica is also a fun one to play and I would like to dip my toes into making videos or streaming myself playing it. As a final tidbit I want to add, the naming is based around JayzTwoCents Dark Knight build and Nebula build. It borrows a lot from the Dark Knight build mainly since it's built inside the same case. but all the nickel-plated tubing, fittings, blocks, etc. is more heavily drawn from the Nebula build.$3,633.07 -
