I originally built my first pc for gaming but I did not treat it right I ignored driver updates and refused to clean it I was in the mentality that if it still turned on it was fine and I would check my temps with my hand ✋️ and had no idea what "fan orientation" was . The good old days . Then it overheated for reasons unknown to me. My pc had died from heatstroke. Yet I turned to salvation (pc reddit forums pcmr) and learned the error of my ways. To me my second build way about trying and learning. Alot of learning. Now I mess with cpu and gpu overclocks (attempting ram) not cause I need to but it's become just as fun as gaming.

Playing Cyberpunk, Dirt Rally 2.0, Assetto Corsa. Occasionally used for admin. GFX card was just too tall so used a piece of acrylic as a spacer and added a addressable LED for some color. There's also a ESP8266 for switching the computer on/off remotely or via voice commands.

This PC was built with no specific purpose other than do anything my busy mind decides to focus on at any moment. I do business, photography, gaming, video editing, streaming and race sim / vr all from this bad boy. Slowly upgrading parts over time allows me to stay on top of the trends but I think I found a point where an upgrade isn't necessary (unless 3080s become easily in stock) I'll try to get better pictures later lol

Since coronavirus started I've found a group of friends I play Overwatch with that I used my MacBook Pro and external GPU for, which increasingly felt more and more tedious due to heat and performance reasons. When I found out that we'll be stuck at home for an extended period of time with a little bit of extra money I decided to create a new build that could handle the load better on Overwatch, Forza, and other games. Since my budget was limited I decided to load up on the components outside of the GPU and use the existing Nvidia GTX 1070 card I had in my eGPU to save some cash. The result was a great performing build that I now use for most of my gaming, including Overwatch, Star Wars the Old Republic, Forza Horizon 4 (with a steering wheel), various single player games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and eventually Cyberpunk 2077, and fairly recently Fall Guys. The rig itself was great with the components I put into it, however the display was quite choppy, so I went back to MicroCenter and scored a great deal on a Dell Nvidia GSYNC 2K monitor that I absolutely love with a 144Hz refresh. The only thing truly missing besides maybe an upgrade from 16GB of RAM to 32, is an upgraded graphics card. For that I plan to grab the upcoming Nvidia cards that are on the way, be it the 3070 or 3080 (2170 / 2180?) once they're announced, also depending on budget and cost of the cards.

I built Ernie because my old PC could not handle everything I wanted to do. I know, sounds pretty generic. This was a huge build for me. I have lived my whole life using low end, or very old hand-me-down parts. I had built a brand new PC before but it was entry-level at best, and I was not smart and favored looks over performance. I learned my lesson and buckled down and saved every penny one summer. I was going to spare no expense. RGB and looks were low on the list, but still very important. I was going for a Storm Trooper theme PC, and I think that turned out. I wanted the maximum performance possible, fast storage, and lots of it. The latest graphics and features and the RTX 2080 Super from EVGA fit the bill nicely. I wanted the CPU to have at least 8 Cores, so it would excel at recording and streaming. I was originally looking for the PC O-11 Dynamic, but it required fans and water cooling looks sick in that case, but I don't plan to do a custom loop, anytime soon. The Fractal Design Meshify C, it has good thermals and even better looks. It is pretty small for an ATX chassis. The biggest reason I built Ernie, was so I could start doing Youtube, and Streaming. My old PC could not handle gaming and recording at the same time, and struggled to run most games at 1440p/60FPS. I am looking to upgrade my monitor to an LG UltraGear IPS 144hz QHD Monitor. I also am looking to upgrade the AMD Stock Cooler to a Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, because the stock cooler is super loud. I need to add more fans to further improve thermals, I am looking at some Corsair HD120's those look nice and perform well. If you read this far, Thank You, and maybe subscribe to my new YT Channel, QuackoOperator, I have already posted a video about this PC and I hope to continue to grow the channel and make some gaming content in the future. I want to make a series on F1 2020, maybe some Nascar Heat 5, and other racing games and shooter games such as COD: MW/Warzone.

Okay, so this is my build for gaming/streaming on a budget over time. I call it Genie, because that's what the RGB is based off of, hex code pulled directly from samples of Alladin's Genie. The one thing I actually want more of on my board is fan headers, I'd like at least 5, but I'm not sure it's a thing. Also, I hope to eventually grab a case and board with USB-C front panel options. I think that if I had thought I would have saved less on RAM and gone with 3200 over 2666 OCed to 2866. But, I'm still figuring out the platform. The 2060 Super still leaves a bit to be desired when streaming, and becomes overtaken by RTX Voice, but the 3600 (non x, upgraded from 2600) leaves a large delta for upgrade on the GPU side. I run no OC on the CPU to take advantage of the 4.7ghz single-core PBO. My 2060 Super is OCed via MSI Afterburner on the automatic curve. The entire system is air cooled, and rarely pops over 80C even under max load.
