I appreciate gems like Starcraft and ROR2. Since I'm not moving around as much, I can use a PC consistently instead of gaming on my laptop. Build Purpose: I day trade using Thinkorswim, bookmap, and tradingview on two 1440p widescreen monitors. I also run a smaller monitor with OBS set to record the two larger ones. Thinkorswim is mostly a single core application so I wanted a processor with great single core performance. Bookmap is extremely RAM hungry so I went with 64gb to give me some headroom with everything else I'm running. I saved some money on the GPU front; bookmap does benefit from GPU acceleration but I just really needed the GPU to run 3 monitors. I've been wanting to put some of my profits to use. Building thoughts: I had to RMA my first Asrock Z790, the I/O shield was bent and a part that was screwed in had broken off the board. The 2nd one was perfect. Also, I was worried about clearing the AIO tubing around the Dominators because they're so tall, but I saw another post with the tubes routing over the RAM heatsinks and they ended up fitting well. Finally, I went with an 850W PSU just in case I want to upgrade my GPU eventually. Overall, I'm very happy with my build!$2,184.92 -

It's currently running Ubuntu 24.04, but will add another M.2 SSD for Windows and gaming. Currently I'm participating in multiple scientific distributed computing projects with boinc, I have transcoded ripped blu rays (1080p so far) at a stable 500 fps to AV1 mkv's using ffmpeg (cuda hw accelerated). I plan to run an LLM locally, and want to see if i can run a 70B model without too much quantization, and compare to my old rig (core i7 3770, 16GB ram, GTX 1080). That only ran 13B models max. I might need more system memory. Lol.$2,424.92 -

I do a lot of casual gaming, but I enjoy playing with the graphics cranked up most of the time so I chose the parts based on the fact that I'll be using it for everyday use like YouTube, Discord, Twitch and gaming. I do stream but it isn't often, and despite all of the problems with Intel I'm happy to say that so far at least I have been able to keep my rig at stock settings and haven't had any issues since I built the pc over 9 months ago .$2,679.93 -

Built this PC to upgrade from my old laptop, mostly play competitive FPS games (Overwatch 2, VALORANT) and I will also use it for university work (majoring in computer science). I've done some video editing as well, so I might do that too. No plans for upgrades for now, but I could probably have saved on RAM and SSD and upgraded the GPU. Definitely happy with the 7900XTX though and it fits the theme very well.$2,809.90 -

I don't do much gaming anymore, but my old build was 2015, and I literally could not play some of the more recent games even if I wanted to. The old build was still fine for most day-to-day stuff and I wanted another build that would go the distance. So here we are. My first build was 1998, and PC components have come a long way. I wanted something that could run Cyberpunk at 2k on max settings and still get over 60 FPS. I wanted something that I could hook up a top tier VR headset to without worries. The Lian Li components are super good, but they don't have great software support. Mostly, I would say that they are first rate components with second rate software running them. It often resets, and I can't update because of their file servers (or lack thereof). The Lian Li case is superb. The strimmer lighting looks great and is customizable. The CPU cooler is where the RGB software could be better. Even with the great cable management, the back of that case is STUFFED with cables, Lian Li USB controllers, internal USB hub. The fact that I put a RAID 10 SSD array in there didn't help with space. It seems like no mater what improvements are made with cable management, I'll find a way to fill it with cables! I was going with an ASUS 4080, but it was out of stock when I went to the store, so I settled for the Zotac. It's fine, but the RGB is about 3 years behind the RDG in the rest of the box. Even though it was 1200 bucks, I won't hesitate to return it if the 4080 super comes out in time. I may replace it with a 5000 series in a couple of years. My background is scientific computing, and this PC is about on par with the number of threads and memory that was in $20K servers I was using in 2010. I really like that it's super quiet, even with 6 fans. When its running full blast, its makes half the noise that my 2015 does. I'll probably try DnD next...but then will go back to checking my email! This PC specs out in the top 1% in Passmark. But 1% is a huge number of builds. Maybe next time I go ThreadRipper and Nivida XX90!$3,655.81 -

The games I recently been playing have been, need for speed heat yakuza 5, Red dead redemption through ps3 emulation (rpcs3). I plan on upgrading to the 4090 and i9 13900k when that's available. We’ve gamed together competitively across multiple games for over 2 decades. He gave me complete creative freedom on this machine. The only strict requirement was it had to be a closed case as his office can tend to get very dusty. His office is pretty small so I went small. While these images make the machine look larger than life, it’s housed in the Lian Li O11 Mini. His favorite color is blue, and one of the card games he plays, one of his favorite cards has Blue, Cyan, Black, and Purple on it. I themed it to bring that element into the build, beyond just his MMO characters. This machine features a completely custom water distribution block and reservoir that I designed and machined. I also designed and built a custom RGB circuit board that I machined into a plate that I sandwiched inside of the distribution block and did diffused illumination of the V logo which is embossed 8mm thick inside of the water channel. The machine also features a custom laser etched piece of artwork by Philip J Newman, an award winning tattoo artist containing the 3 main characters my friend has played across 20+ years of gaming together. Everything on the front side is Blue, Black, Carbon. Everything on the back is Black and Silver, giving the machine itself, a split personality. I’m a die hard exotic car fan so naturally I had to incorporate custom carbon fiber tubing as well as custom cabling, custom sleeving, a custom plate inside the rear wire management area, a custom logo plate on the pump cover, custom engraved rear back cover, and a modified custom Lian Li fan controller allowing me to control individual fans, and each individual RGB component separate. The cable combs are also a custom design to account for the 40 series signal wires in a more visually appealing package. The machine is truly breathtaking in person, and one of my favorite pieces of work yet. I hope you enjoy it community! -Veratu Specs: CPU - Intel 13900KS MB - Asus ROG Z790-I PSU - Asus Loki SFF 1000 Watt GPU - NVidia 4090 Founders Edition Memory - GSKill 32GB PC-6400 DDR5 Storage - 1TB and 2TB Western Digital SN850X Black Case - Lian Li O11 Mini Cooling: CPU - EKWB Velocity 2 GPU - EKWB Velocity 2 Pump - EKWB DDC Pump Cover - EKWB Quantum DDC Radiators - (2) EKWB Quantum Surface S360 Fittings - EKWB Torque Micro and Quantum Torque HDC Fans - (6) Lian Li SL 120 Infinity Series Additional: Custom distribution block with V logo embossed and illuminated Custom front glass laser etched artwork by Phil Newman, an award winning tattoo artist Custom RGB circuit board for lighting Custom blue Vs on the radiator ends Custom cabling and sleeving Custom wire management plate Custom rear back cover engraving Custom pump cover cap Custom carbon fiber tubing$4,229.87 -

I wanted to create a high-end gaming PC that would leave even the most serious gamers, streamers, and simulators in awe. The sleek white design with the custom Corsair Water Loop gives it a sophisticated look. And let's not forget the stunning Lian Li Strimer Plus RGB extension cables that add a touch of brilliance to the setup. But the real showstopper is the white Radeon RX 7900xtx Hellhound Spectral, which truly completes the aesthetic. Its power and performance are unmatched, delivering an immersive gaming experience like no other. To make this PC not just a powerhouse but also a work of art, I opted for the 128GB G Skill z5 Trident Memory. This not only ensures lightning-fast speeds but also adds a touch of elegance to the overall design. From its impressive specs to its breathtaking visuals, this gaming PC is a true masterpiece. It's not just a computer, but a statement piece that showcases the passion and dedication we have for gaming.$4,399.35 -

Initially, this project started out with me just wanting to recase my Omen 30L. Waltzed into MicroCenter for a new case and mobo which I got. But then everything else started coming into play since the case/mobo just wasn't enough. Foolishly I asked the BYOP team if they had any 4090s in stock and they did. They happened to have the ROG Strix 4090 I was looking for and, well, everything kinda went downhill after that. Next thing I know I'm choosing RAM, finding an optimal price for a PSU and then trying to source all the fans I wanted for the build. Whole process took a little over a month or so and lots and lots of $$$$. But, now that everything's complete and rig is working fine, I am a happy camper now.$4,694.94 -

I didn't leave the NVME in that slot. I did test with it in that Gen5 slot vs the other M2 slot with the 4 lanes direct to the CPU (so not making the GPU run in 8x PCIE lanes). There was zero performance difference (actually it gets slightly faster 3dmark scores with the PCIE gen 5 M2 slot occupied (within margin of error though). Also.. not sure where the AsRock Nova Wifi went on their website (it's still there if you search, but not on the list of MBs). It is an awesome board so far, both in performance and looks.$5,825.81 -
