I put this together mainly because I needed a powerhouse that could handle my gaming needs without breaking a sweat. I'm mostly into AAA titles—think Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, and some of the newer FPS games like Call of Duty: Warzone. This rig handles them at high settings without any hiccups. The 850W power supply gives me plenty of overhead for overclocking too. Looking back, I might have gone with a 2TB SSD because these games don’t just sit light on storage, and it fills up quick. Down the line, I’m considering adding another SSD for more space, maybe even pushing it to a full custom loop for cooling just to get that extra performance edge and maintain aesthetics.$1,359.92 -

I built this PC as a balanced rig for gaming, multitasking, and working from home. It should run most modern games at high or ultra settings in 1080p and 1440p, with optimized performance at 4K for certain titles. The Ryzen 5 has relatively good performance for the price, and enough cores to handle working from home or multitasking. I'm generally not too fussed about the CPU performance, and it works well enough. I primarily play games like Valorant, League of Legends, Call of Duty Warzone, CS2, and GTA V. It also handles more demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077, God of War, and Watch Dogs Legion quite well at 1080p, thanks to the RTX 3060. In hindsight, I might upgrade the RAM to 32GB down the line to future-proof the system for heavier multitasking or more demanding games. The 850W PSU is a bit overkill for now but gives me room to upgrade the GPU or add more components in the future, so I think that it was a good investment. Overall, I'm happy with the build, and the white case with glass looks super clean, especially with the RGB lighting.$807.92 -

Full MSI Build, this is the Cooler/Graphics Card/Motherboard/Power Supply unit. I love how quiet it runs and how cool the temps are. It's also a beautiful PC that is mixed up of new and used parts. I was able to get a 5700x3d + 32gb ram and upgraded it from a 5600x and 16gb ram. The GPU is perfect for what I need at 1440p.$1,359.94 -

I recently built this gaming PC with a focus on both performance and budget. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600 paired with the RX 6600 is great for playing modern games like Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, and Call of Duty: Warzone at 1080p with high settings. In the future, I might upgrade the storage to 1TB or consider adding more RAM to push into content creation. Looking back, I might have opted for a slightly higher-end CPU or GPU for future-proofing, but overall, I’m thrilled with how this build turned out.$792.92 -

My main goal with Redshift was converting the processor and graphics card to AMD and this build accomplishes that. In the... My main goal with Redshift was converting the processor and graphics card to AMD and this build accomplishes that. In the previous build, I mentioned that Redshift was the only desktop computer in the household, but not anymore. As for Redshift, that computer still has the same components from the last time that I updated it and has become a computer that my sister uses often. I went through implementing VLANs into the network, but the process did not go as smoothly as I thought it would be. At first, I bought the Ubiquiti EdgeRouterX and tried to utilize Link Aggregation Groups (LAG) with the Netgear GS110TPP; but after hours of trying, this never worked. Later, I realized that the router was not going to work well with the symmetrical gigabit connection from the Internet Service Provider (ISP), so I returned the router and sold the GS110TPP to someone else. Then, Ubiquiti announced the Unifi Dream Router (UDR) which I was seriously considering getting, but that was not capable of 1 gigabit Intrusion Protection System or Intrusion Protection System (IDS/IPS). I also started buying open-box Unifi switches from Micro Center which expanded to 4 Flex Mini and a Lite 8 PoE. After the plans for a UDR fell through, I liked working with the interface on the EdgeRouterX, especially with Command Line Interface (CLI), so I got an EdgeRouter12 which could take full advantage of the speeds provided by the ISP and shifted the Unifi Network host to a Raspberry Pi 4. Then, Ubiquiti announced the Cloud Gateway Ultra (CGU) when I had owned the router for a few months. Unlike the UDR, the CGU could do 1 gigabit IDS/IPS, but this gateway did not have the ability to host other Unifi applications like protect, talk, or access. I was okay with that because I wanted some redundancy for Unifi protect and set my sights on the Unifi Network Video Recorder (UNVR). Making my decision, I purchased the CGU which unintentionally made Unifi the main part of the network. One day the network experienced some sort of outage which unplugging and plugging the power cable into the router could not fix. In desperation to bring the network back online, the CGU began to be the key part of the network and eventually some VLANs were implemented including an IoT network which used 3 Linksys WHW03B along with a few shelves. Continuing on the Unifi path, I bought a couple of open-box Unifi U6 Pro at Micro Center while I was on a shopping trip with my mother. This was derailed by my father, who was disappointed in me because he did not approve of the purchase and added to my pile of networking stuff which I told him that I would sell most of them. Despite how much I wanted to keep them, he was strongly against me owning them, so I had to go back to Micro Center with her to return them. A few months have passed and I am selling most of my Linksys stuff that I had built up over the years. At some point, I acquired a Verizon CR1000A to provide additional coverage with the Verizon G3100 that was the main part of the network which allowed my father to sell his ASUS routers. Now he approves the purchase of the Unifi U6 Pro and I am waiting again for some open-box ones unless some other opportunity presents itself.$3,683.25 -

So after a much needed revamp and redo of my wife's music room/office, she decided she wanted me to build her a PC of her own. Who am I to turn down a chance to build a new PC? So of course I said yes. She said she wanted something simple, that would allow her to do basic work stuff (Microsoft Office, etc), play a few retro game emulators, and also play around with some basic music creation software. She also wanted a mostly white build, as well as a lot of RGB just for fun. Also to keep the price down, we decided go with an AMD "G" series with onboard graphics so we wouldn't have to buy a video card. After assessing what this PC will be used for, we decided that for now, that would be ok. It's possible we might add a dedicated GPU in the future. This is what we came up with for her PC build.$519.94
